You really couldn't win, could you?
Doremy had come to the Weyr to get away from the nightmares. He couldn't stand continuing in the miningcraft, and High Reaches had been... well, convenient, and maybe even a spark of hope at the same time. He had the potential to Impress, according to the dragon. Well. Even if he'd had to pester the Searchrider first...
Weren't dragons supposed to be gentle to humans? The violence of the Hatching was still weighing heavily on Doremy's memories, as he walked along the Weyrbowl, eyeing the dragons and riders on their ledges. The adults always seemed to be so... There was something almost charming, even, about them, the easy rapport between bonded. So how could the half-crazed, vicious things he'd seen bursting out of those shells turn into such mild adults? It seemed a ridiculous notion. He absently rubbed his forearm, where the scratch he'd received from a green dragonet was already healing. She hadn't meant it... but some of the later ones? They'd knocked down Candidates the way a feline pounces its prey. He had to wonder whether it was worth it.
But if he didn't go back to the Hold, and he didn't stand for another Hatching... What other option was there?

Again we come to another Weyr?
Yes, Varoth. A silent exchange passed between the two minds as they winked into existence above the stone walls of High Reaches. To go from the extreme cold and the death-like silence of between to the warmth and hustle of the Weyr below them was welcoming to the pair. They could have flown but the Weyrling Master has wanted a prompt delivery, and prompt usually ment very quickly.
As his Rider mulled over the message, the stocky Blue who's shoulders he sat upon angled his wings and drifted down into the Weyrbowl. He landed with a heavy thud, wings flaring up a small cloud of dust as they flapped and folded against the dark hide. Unstrapping himself, G'ind jumped down and removed the goggles over his eyes, plus the hood to reveal his pale face to this Weyr.
Looking around though, everything seemed upside down and turned inside out, a thought that made Varoth chuckle in his mind. He didn't know where to begin to look.
Mine? What of asking someone? Varoth, too, was looking around before laying teal eyes on a lad walking across the Bowl. Perhaps him, by chance? He may know.
Yes, thank you Partner! "LAD! You! Lad, hold for a moment!" He waved at the boy in an attempt to gain his attention.

Doremy jumped at the distinctive sound of flapping wings behind him, followed by the heavy sound of a landing dragon. He was about to quicken his pace, get out of there and back to his chores, but...
Well, he couldn't pretend he didn't hear the dragonrider calling to him. And technically, the rider had the right to ask his assistance. Who knows, if he ignored the call, the rider might even go to someone in charge and tell them that some idiot candidate had brushed him off. So reluctantly, Doremy turned around and headed back.
A blue. Well, at least it wasn't a bronze. Still, he couldn't help but think of that one blue who had hatched at the end... He sidled over, close enough that he could be heard by the rider if he raised his voice, but no closer than he needed to be. "Yes? What is it?" His expression remained neutral, his tone polite as possible, in the circumstances. No use annoying anyone right off the bat.
