NOT Mononoke Hime!!
I love this anime ~ heart
Mononoke is about a medicine seller who travels about Japan. His name is never said, so people (and fans) have taken to calling him Kusuriuri-san--literally, "Medicine Seller." One way or another, he happens across places haunted by Mononoke--traditional Japanese creatures (like Umi-Bozu, Bakeneko, and Zashiki Warashi) that have fused with the emotions and feelings of humans. At least, that's what I think. The anime actually says they're Ayakashi bonded to the emotions and feelings of humans, but then never explains what Ayakashi are. (It probably has to do with the fact that the first arc of Mononoke was actualy part of another series called Ayakashi.)
And once he finds the Mononoke?
He kills them.
Kusuriuri-san has a sword he specifically calls a Demon Slaying sword, but in order to unsheathe it, he needs to know the Mononoke's Form, Truth, and Reason--what form they've taken, why they've taken that form, and what they hope to accomplish. But, Mononoke often only bond to negative emotions, and as such, their Truth and Reason put the dark side of humanity on full display. And they certainly aren't bashful about taking revenge in the most satisfying way...
The series is rather short at only twelve episodes plus the three that are part of Ayakashi for a grand total of fifteen episodes. It's not enough. For more information/spoilers, click the link.

I guarantee you won't watch anything like it ever again.
