My Light
Be my light that leads thru darkness,
the one thing that shows me the way.
The warm that protects and guides me,
Thru every night and day.
Lead on my light, forever,
Never do go out.
I need you my little lanturn,
Need you without a doubt.
And if, perchance, you fail me,
I'll stumble on my way.
But perhaps you never left my side,
And I was blind that day.
Oh little lanturn, of truth, of faith,
Of hope, of love, and light.
I know you're always with me,
E'en in very darkest night.
Your little light illuminates
Those on the path besides me.
I look at all the others and think
Perhaps that they'd help guide me.
Old men and women, child, too,
All have unique points of view.
They help me to perfect my faith,
They scratch, shine, cut, and hew.
And then the light shines farther out,
I see others wandering out in the dark.
They're looking for that light I see.
Waiting for that tiny spark.
And if I do not show them,
I ask of you, who will?
If I show them that tiny spark,
They'll no longer be still.
We'll walk the path together.
How great our joy will be!
And we'll stop to help all others,
Who simply cannot see.
How great a simple work this is,
To go thru all your days,
Helping the lord complete his work
In all his mysterious ways.
But not all others you will touch,
Will turn and see the light.
But wander off, yet farther still,
Into the pitchy night.
Now as we near the path's completion,
I look around at all my friends,
And realize I have svaed them
From a night that does not end.
The light I realize, after that,
Wasn't something you could see,
It was the spirit, oh so bright,
Magnified by me.
Be my light that leads thru darkness,
the one thing that shows me the way.
The warm that protects and guides me,
Thru every night and day.
Lead on my light, forever,
Never do go out.
I need you my little lanturn,

This is my favorite poem that I've ever written, so here it is, first. I wrote it for a friend, but I think it's helped me more then her. I fell it was divinely inspired, because I was really bored one night, so I picked up a notebook and started writing. I was in tears by the time I finished the poem. The funny thing is that I thought I had written it in the front of the notebook, but in reality, I wrote it right in the middle. I didn't notice the 30 empty pages in front of it until the next day when I tried to find it!
