Anatole_serial A lot of them, fairly frequently. Easier to spot when they have mics, though. Mics are awesome ^-^

Girl gamer here as well and I always use my mic...and sometimes I'm on mic while my bf plays lol!
Relaying info is funny when someone else is playing. (Like when the spy is behind us and someone yells that a spy is behind me but it was too late to tell my bf cause we're dead by then lol)
I've never had anyone comment on a game online about me being a girl, at least yet and I did find another girl in there as well once...but then the server crashed and she was gone...before I could friend her.... T-T

This thread made me feel off. Ive seen alot of "GURL GAEMERS" and gamers who are girls. There is a specific difference. I avoid mics myself thanks to the horrible quality and how I sound on them. I have a question for you all though do you answer the question "Are you a girl" or do you ignore it and continue with the game. Or do you just declare youre a girl in the beginning. (If its the second one Oh.My.God.)

From a guys perspective, I'd say reply if you're asked, and correct if someone calls you a male.
I think saying it when you go into a server is somewhat pretentious and annoying. It makes you seem like a GURL gamer instead of a girl gamer.

Wut? Why would you just go right out and say it?
I just use my mic when I wanna (usually as a team helper for spies and sentries and s**t but sometimes the conversations are too great to pass up. xd ) And then if anyone says anything, I just go with it unless I feel like saying "No, actually, I'm a girl" or if they ask me, I'll say yes. I was called a 12 year old boy once because my voice is kinda high even for girl standards (Which kills me). I lol'd so hard.

౦ ౦ ౦xxxxнιρρσ¢яαтι¢ σαтн? 【Haha, what Hippocratic Oath?】 I have not yet encountered one of those 'GURL' gamers playing on a server yet. Thankfully. I'm afraid I might have to punch their faces in (or at least riddle 'em with needles) if I do.
Regardless, I'm a girl, but the only people who really know are the people on my friends list. I have a mic but I always forget I do, so I hardly ever use it unless there's a bunch of great conversation going on.

I play with and meet many female players in TF2. Just because they don't blatantly display their femininity doesn't mean that they are not women.
There are also plenty of Steam groups for Girls, so if you're looking to horde up female players - join some of those.
Generally, I run into most on Casual servers, Pub servers and Prop Hunt servers.
Also, my pug team has 3 girls in it, with myself being one of the 3.
Female gamers make up 48% of the market, and while that number may not be directly representative of the PC FPS scene, I assure you we're not "rare" though it may seem like it.

This thread is getting a lot of attention...
Our server and Steam group consists of many females. It's practically half of it... okay, maybe 25%. We highly encourage the girls to use their mics too in our server. We encourage everyone to do that... And we won't stop bugging you about it. ;D

On the Calculated Choas server I play on there is about four or five girls that play on there. Which I am one of those, if someone says he or something calling me by the wrong gender people playing will correct that one person and it will bring up the whole 'A girl on the internet?!' Type thing. Kinda lame. Sastora is my steam name if you wanna play. I also have L4D2.

I make it fairly obvious that I'm a chick without going all 'gurl gamer'. (Simply put, my steam name is MissNapalm. Simple enough, right? Feel free to add me.) While I consider myself just one of the guys, I do like to make my gender subtly clear. I just find it more comfortable when they're aware I'm a chick.
Anyway, I see a few girls on my regular servers. But most of them don't have mics and play sniper or engie or pyro. I'd use a mic myself, but the one built in my laptop is crap and I can't get it adjusted right. >.<

Zactura [Note: Don't just charge in here screaming 'GRILS DNT EKSIST' or something like that. Please keep a level of maturity as well, and I will have none of the sexist jokes that may arise.] So, those few members of the TF2 community that are female. I am a part of that relatively small slice, and I've noticed that many people who play claim to have never have seen a girl on a server. It's like we're urban legends or something, and I get a lot of 'HOLY CRAP, CHAPEL'S A GIRL?!'--well, used to, before it became common knowledge. Well then, that being said, how many members of this guild are/have seen a girl on TF2? I think the only people that immature to do that don't play TF2 and reserve their gayness for games like Halo 3 and Modern Warfare 2 (Moder Warfare for the win but screw the new one.)
