"Hah... " the woman couldn't help but let out a dark chuckle, lying back on the bench, "I'm suprised you're still alive. It sounds like alot of work. Luckily I've only got one hellspawn, and that's enough for now."
Baniru looked up to the darkening sky, shifting the weight on her other shoulder, "It smells like rain soon."
Karma looked at Calumet in curiosity, glad to be rid of the extra weight. What exactly was the other toddler doing? And why did he want him to follow? With some hesitation, Karma managed to stand on two wobbly legs, stick his arms out, and follow after with a teetering gait.

"It is," she admitted, "but when they grow up I can put them to work. You know, as payment for taking care of them." She was joking, really. Mostly. Her head tilted upwards, and she frowned at the gloomy-looking clouds. She couldn't smell it, but it certainly looked like rain. "Yeah," she sighed, hoping against hope that it wouldn't start raining on the way home. She started to get up, frown deepening as she found that Cal wasn't in her line of sight. "Hey, where'd the kids go?"
Cal really had no idea where he was going; he was running for the sake of running. At length he came upon a tree and contented himself by running around and around the trunk, occasionally looking to see if his friend was still behind him.

Karma, being the ever smart-a**, had followed Cal around the tree for a little while; that is, until he found out that they weren't going anywhere.
After that point in groundbreaking decision, he opted to stop running, coming to a dead stop.
"Your guess is as good as mine," Baniru whistled slightly, sighing, "Guess we should find them before the rain starts."
The woman stood, stretching a bit at the notion. Where exactly did those two head off to? Well on the bright side, nothing was completely obliterated yet. Cal must be a good influence, or some such.

Cal, being Cal, did not see Karma stop, nor were his reflexes fast enough to stop his forward momentum once he saw that his new friend didn't seem to be going anywhere. So he did the only thing he could do, really--he ran into him, then promptly lost his balance, flailing for a moment to try to regain it before failing and landing square on his a** with a soft huff. He blinked up at his friend through his shaggy hair; what had he done that for?
"Oh, do we have to?" Inle complained, standing and looking out over the playground. She didn't mean it, really; as much trouble as her children caused her, they made life that much more interesting.

Baniru laughed. Inle was a funny woman; she was pretty fun to be around. "C'mooon," she nudged her on the shoulder, giving a wink, "It can't be so bad if you keep them in the basement for a few days."
Though she didn't have a basement, the woman found herself suddenly wishing she did. It was a joke of course, but somehow she found herself hoping it wasn't.
"I think I spotted 'em, next to that tree over there."
Now what the hell were the kids doing beside a tree? Honestly, does anyone know how to have fun these days?
Karma lost his balance too, not really having great balance in the first place. Unlike Cal, however, the toddler rolled for a bit before he came to a stop on his butt. Which might have been pretty funny had he been watching someone else get hurt. So instead the toddler scowled; if you could call the squished up pudge to be a scowl. He pointed accusingly at Cal.
Meanie.

"You know, you might think so at first," Inle started, looking and sounding as serious as the grave she never went to, "but then they start whining about how they're hungry and oh, where's the light? and threatening to call child services so in the end, a few days of peace and quiet only leads to a few weeks of extra noisiness." All spoken with the air of someone who had been there, done that, and didn't bother to get the t-shirt.
Cal, meanwhile, was torn between hurt and surprise; perhaps even surprise that his new friend had hurt him. Or had he? He seemed to be on the ground now too, making funny faces and pointing at him. Oh, was this a new game? Cal smiled lopsidedly before imitating his friend, his mock scowl marred by the smile that tried to break through. His new friend was just full of fun ideas!
