Magna Carta 2
Released: 10/14/09 (US) 10/16/09 (EU)
System: x-box 360
Player(s): 1 Player

Story:
Starting after a great war the story starts off with Juto, a young boy who suffers from amnesia and being raised by Michelle and the highwind islanders. When there is said to be a "Guardian" (a weapon) on the island the southern forces led by Princess Rzephillda (Known as Zeffie to her companions) comes there to find it and take it away (and protect the Highwind Islanders). At the same time the Northern forces are attacking the island and southern forces to take the weapon first.
Due to some circumstances Juto ends up volunteering to lead the princess inside the cave to get the Guardian and at the same time was looking for Melissa who last told him she was going inside the cave to check on their enemies, the northern Forces. When Juto sees Melissa about to be killed by the Guardian he unleashes a surprising and unknown power that somehow gives him the ability to destroy the Guardian with a wooden sword. (Also, Juto lost his memory but was learning swordsmanship to help Melissa out with Island Guards. However for some reason he couldn't pick up a real sword so it was assumed he might have been a solider who fought in a war.)
This surprises everyone including himself. However when the Northern Forces hear about the Guardian being defeated they immediantly bring out Elgar, a powerful and deadly general on their end, and powerful weapons to destroy the island completely.
During the battle with Elgar, Melissa faces off with him. It's then that Juto picks up a sword but fails to protect Melissa who is killed by Elgar in front of him. The Islanders along with the Southern Forces fall due to their reinforcements not arriving on time and only Juto survives with the southern forces. Juto then travels and decides to join the Southern Forces in order to face off with Edgar avenge Melissa.

Gameplay: RPG Based.
Towns, Real time based, Strategic, ect... When in towns the characters split up the player gets to choose who you'd like to run around as so your not forced to use one main character all the time. When on the field map you can switch between all your available characters but only three can be in party at the same time. The games graphics are nice and the gameplay is nice and smooth!

Towns:
In towns you can talk to NPC's and collect quests which are reasonable and not complicated at all. You can also shop for weapons/items/accessories for your characters. For quests you always have your main goal shown with a red arrow and flag on the map so it's rather easy to find where you last left off when you stop playing or get sidetracked.

Field Maps:
When on the field map you can see the three chosen party members you want to use with you. The battle is kind of real time with a bit turn based mixed in. You can switch between Movement and Combat mode and enemies can be seen on the map.

CG Scenes:
It's a story! And a good one. The graphics are very lovely and the CG scenes come around quite often but the story is interesting so it's not a problem. You get a fair share of game play of course with just important scenes here and there.

Voice Acting
Splendid!!! The English voice actors aren't bad at all!! I was absolutely amazed that the game delivered good voice actors that weren't disappointing and Crocell and Juto can be hilarious when they fight. ^_^
(New update: Celestine bugged me a bit with her high pitched voice ...I suppose it was perfect for that of a 10 year old but the point that she had the body of an adult threw me off... and I can't help but think he voice could have been better done)

Background Music:
The background music is great as well. I actually find myself paying attention to it.

Battle System:
Battle Team- 3 Characters
You can change characters during battle and even charge character fighting styles as well.

Switching Characters during Battle:
The player can change between the three chosen characters so they can work together sometimes with chain moves or just switch when you need to be another player. To change characters within the other non-participating members you'd have to access the main menu then change formation but it's still easy and can be done when your in the midst of fighting an enemy/boss.

Fighting Style: Every characters has two styles they can change between and each characters has different ability's. For example, Juto can change between 1 or 2 handed swords and both have their own unique attacks.

Rate: 8/10 (decent recommendation)
New update:
Not a bad game! On a serious note the characters were well designed and the graphics were very nice. The game play was fun and brought back your typical RPG game!! The dungeons weren't long and annoying either.
Characters on the whole: Were not bad. The voice actor for the Celestine was a bit too squeaky or high pitched.
The ending? Won't give any spoilers but it wasn't bad! The story was decent with your normal storyline nothing special but it kept me playing and the game wasn't terribly long or annoying either.

The only odd thing? The female anatomy legs. Though this has nothing to do with the game, the artist is really good, but the artist tends to draw the female legs a little out of proportion and too wide spread to be normal. ^_^"

The cover art looks quite similar to a game I have with an equally similar name-Magna Carta: Tears of Blood.

The lead female role also suffered from amnesia.....lol

cool - it must be good if it's a 10.10 biggrin

though the title confuses me...maybe it's the history nerd in me.
(looks guiltily at the copy of the proper magna carta document it stuck to my wall) sweatdrop
magna carta ftw!

random history fact: There were several magna carta manuscripts created as copies, and to preserve them (and be flashy) they were written on fine leather. Later on (maybe a century or whatever) after King John left the throne, many copies of it were turned into shoes because of the good quality leather it was wirtten on.
hence why there's maybe only 5ish copies left in the world

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magna_Carta

It's basically the start of constitutional law in England and was written in 1215 against king John. It basically restricted his rights, enforced the nobles' freedoms and made the monarch fully accountable to the law and limited his powers.
While we have never had a formal constitution we do have 'common laws' I think, and this bound him to it and stopped him from abusing his powers (eg over land and taxes etc) and ensuring the freedom of the english church and fair trade.

Quote:

The most significant clause for King John at the time was clause 61, known as the "security clause", the longest portion of the document. This established a committee of 25 barons who could at any time meet and overrule the will of the King, through force by seizing his castles and possessions if needed. This was based on a medieval legal practice known as distraint, but it was the first time it had been applied to a monarch. In addition, the King was to take an oath of loyalty to the committee.
