The beginning in a nutshell.

In the beginning everything was dark. Well, it wasn't really a darkness, more of a nothing. And the nothing liked to stay that way.
But one day, a man came to the nothing. He was a strange one with the body of an old man but the disposition of a child.
But enough about that.

For a time, the nothing welcomed the man. It found it's meager existence, or lack of it, brightened by his company.
The man, however, didn't care much for nothing and soon found himself wanting to replace it.

So he made the most infinitesimal speck, which may not seem like much to thousand cell organisms such as ourselves.
But to nothing it was the end of all it'd ever known. Since nothing was now something it poofed so fast it didn't even have time to wonder at this betrayal.

Now the man was left with a tiny something workshop to play in. He rubbed his hands together in anticipation. Don't ask why that's historically important.

When the beginning took root.

Now that he had a workshop, the man decided to make a world. He always wanted to do that.
So, naturally, the first thing he did was prepare people to do the work for him.

He started with Time, since fitting it would be more complicated without it.
Tricky thing, time. Takes forever to get it running, but once it starts- woosh!
Anyway, once he'd gotten that started he left it to stew and went on to the next thing.

Creation, also a messy step. You have to start it while Time is stewing or it'll run real messy.
Throw in a bit of this, a dash of that, and a bit of rutabaga... for color.
Soon he had the very soul of creation rising up out of a Ceasar Salad.
Always wanted to put a Ceasar Salad in something.

Meanwhile, Time was coming to a rolling boil and rose out of the steam.
The man turned to see his work and the spirit of life rose from his sidedish.
He looked upon his work and beamed.

Food parables aside....
There was now life and time. They looked upon him and wondered at this man from who's efforts they'd been born.
From that moment on, he was known as the Creator.

But he didn't stop there. He jotted up some blueprints for Creation to start off of, gave some quick instructions to Time, and got started on another project. For where there was Creation there had to be Destruction.
Through some method I'd rather not speak of in detail he created another being.
He didn't know it yet, but he was up for a very boring existence.

Now there was some balance to the world, or so he thought.
But Creation soon came to him with a problem. The creation of the world was going smoothly enough, but it was also very boring.

The Creator then realized that there needed to be life on this world.
People.
And the needed to live full lives, go full circle, and then die.
So he thought about it all night (or the equivlent of, since night and day hadn't been created yet.), and designed a system.

Living things would be born into this world, they would each have individual souls.
Now that could get cluttered, so he decided to filter it by allowing reincarnation.
Most souls would live out there life in the living world, then die and go to the realm of the dead.
But wait, someone would need to look after the souls of the dead.
So, he gave the job to Time.

That problem solved, it still baffled him as to who was gonna watch the living.
After much scratching of the head he managed to concoct another being.
This one, he'd planned, would rule over the Fate of the living. To watch them, even control them if need be.
Now things were settled.

He gave Creation some quick instructions on creating people, but she'd come with more problems...

And so the tree grew.

It seemed that the balance of things was not quite right.
"Everything just started falling apart all of a sudden."
Gonk.

The Creator examined the situation and came to the conclusion that the energy balance was thrown off by the new soul system.
They needed something to hold it together.

So the Creator went back to the old drawing board. (Well, not that old.)
He looked over the mess a bit and turned it a couple angles then popped it in the oven.
Ding!
Out came four freshly baked Elements. Flavors include: Earth, Water, Fire, and Wind. They cooked up an extra or two as well, but we'll get back to them later.
He explained the situation to the newborn gods and they set to work mending it.
Yay, crisis averted.

And so, life began. But the full formation of the world was far from over. The real challenge was just beginning.

But as far as the Creator was concerned, that was their problem. He'd done more then his fair share, in his opinion. Now he was gonna sit back and watch them do it.

The First Age

The planning stage over, the real creation was underway. The world was oversaw and governed by the 8 gods who kept vital watch in these chaotic times.

Of course the governing wasn't perfect. They half destroyed all there work trying to figure out who was in charge among them. But in the end it was all part of the creation process itself.
And who were they? Or what did they do during this time?
Well...

Gaia, goddess of creation, slapped together the land and created new species.

Chaos, god of destruction, destroyed failed attempts and disasters. Though he ended up destroying nearly everything else in his path as well.

Lilithian, goddess of fate, kept all the new life forms in check. They weren't ready to run free in this wild world yet.

Chronos, god of time, had his stuff going on.

Geo, god of earth, went through a couple name changes, tried to keep balance in the earth energy, and helped Gaia make mountains.

Aquis, goddess of water, explored all the potential there was to the world, recorded half of it, kept balance in the water energy, and helped make oceans and rivers. (All while filing her nails.)

Taio, god of fire, dabbled in the art of combat, kept balance in fire energy (nasty business), and helped start flames beneath the earth. They also gave him the happy little task of creating sunlight.

Windy, goddess of wind, helped the air and breeze to circulate evenly through the world. Which seems to be even harder when the world is under construction.

As mentioned before, the gods weren't quite sure who was in charge or who was supposed to be doing what where.
This continued for a good while, until a human did something none had expected.

This particular human didn't like the way the gods did things. He didn't even like the gods. In fact, he didn't particularly like humans. Due to this fact, he lived alone in the woods. Probably one of the reasons he didn't like humans.
But through an unclear series of events (also known as "I haven't played it out in full scripted clear color") he gathered an army of men and marched forward against the gods.

This was where Lilithian came in handy most. She could control most humans and make them drop out or even turn against the army.
But for some reason she couldn't control this man.
He marched onward against them, defying them wherever there influence held strong.

Eventually they beat back this man, but the effort had forced them to form a working team. They saw the misdeeds of their fighting and vowed never to battle on such a scale again. Yah, we'll see how long that lasts.

Meanwhile, the Creator had been watching it all. After careful consideration he decided to visit and make some revisions.

He decided, first, that Chaos would only act when absolutely necessary.
He was to sit tight unless under express orders to destroy something in particular. And then to destroy only that.

The next thing he decided was to remove the concept of fate. You see, in watching the humans battle he realized there will was so strong and there determination so great that forcing them to run a specified course was a crime in itself.
Which meant Lilithian was out of a job.

He told her that if, and only if, there ever came people from another world she could govern them.

His final act was to designate different sections of the land to the 6 available gods and let them reign over them as they wished.
They agreed. Though Gaia only did on the condition that another goddess, Eden, would get her own land. She had been vigilant during the creation of the world.
The creator agreed, and gave her an island to live on.

Then Zain, another elemental god but not quite enough to make a major one, demanded that he be given land of his own. Most of the gods disagreed saying that he wasn't entitled to this land. He disagreed.
After careful consideration, the Creator decided that he was just as important as the rest in the long run.
Chronos supported this theory.
So, Zain was assigned his own land.

Then all the people were placed within the land of their element.
Fire people in the land of Chini.
Water in Agua. Wind in Gale, and Earth in Terre.
Eden's land, named after herself, became the territory of Krann. And all plant life became her people.
Finally, Zain set up the land of Magnetico Lectricas, the land of electricity and plasma.
Meanwhile, Lilithian, who'd been exiled to an island of her own, set up the territory of Destin.
As for Chronos... Well, he's got the whole Underworld to rule over.

And thus the Clans were born. And the First Age came to a close.
(Please note that this took place over hundreds, maybe even thousands of years.)

Second Age

A ton of stuff happened, including Chaos getting married and becoming widowed. The world almost died again here. This was also a time when most of the larger cities were established.

More to be written later.

(Dark Ages like.)

Third Age

Lilithian ran amuck and tried to re-write the order of things. She was eventually subdued and restricted to living on the island of Destin for the next few millenia.
A couple political orders changed in the clans. Some territory was exchanged.

Will write more as it comes.

(Roughly Middle Ages.)

Fourth Age

(current)

The clans are all excelling at different things so fast they can barely keep up with themselves.
(Please note that these apply mainly to the capital territories and that situations of the minors will be determined by the situations of the capitals and other surrounding areas.)

Yang just had a factory boom, which actually just put a lot of hand labor out of jobs. Many of the people working factories aren't sure what they're doing. The few that do got rich quick and stopped working in them.
Yang is in turmoil on the political field, and the churches there are having a field day claiming their beloved "Day of Judgement" is nigh.

In Agua the people are, as usual, cool and composed. They keep an air of calm and can make anyone believe all is in order. As it is there.
But their currently going through an artistic revolution, which mean the streets are filled with "impoverished artisans" trying to prove a point. It's a little embarrassing for the more normal people.

Chini is currently having two problems: Drought and a baby-boom. This leads to shortages on food and suitable land. Though they haven't officially admitted their plight to the other clans yet, officials are frantically searching for a resource.
Contradicting the rest of them, the King and his closest officials seem quite composed about the situation. You'd almost think they'd found a solution and were being hush-hush about it.

The drought is naturally effecting eastern edges of the surrounding Yang and Terre areas. (Ying and Magnitecos are coming out okay.)
This leads to the residents of those areas moving west. Which in turn leads to them moving farther west (or north, or south) or the residents of the west areas moving west. Eventually they will either deliberately migrate to or spill over to the more prosperous regions of Ying and Magneticos.
