yeah my band had our christmas concert and when the trumpets (aka my instrument group) played we wish you a merry christmas there would be a note then like 6 rests then like 2 notes then a bunch of rests then 1 note etc. its annoying

Oh yeah? Try seventeen measures, counting every note in a four count measure, in a one hundred thrity measure soung.
About five measures of playing in the beginning. REST. REST. About five more measures. REST. REST. Five more measures. REST. REST. Then the one measure and three notes for the ending.
Oh, and for concert just... REST. REST>>> LONG NOTE>>> REST
