General Information

Non-Weyrbrat Candidates arrive in the Weyr thinking candidacy will be a time to relax and feel important, but this is for from true. Candidates will be assigned basic chores including but not limited to: cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, latrine duty and even babysitting. In High Reaches, they are under the command of the Headwoman Jilis as the Candidatemaster has recently passed on and they have yet to replace him. Telgar has a Candidatemaster, and their candidates answer to them.

Candidates are discouraged from being in relationships and engaging in sexual activities. However, this behavior is not absolutely forbidden for them, and usually at most they'll get a slap on the wrist, so to speak. (Punishments may be more severe, however, depending on the situation.) Pregnant females are not allowed to stand to Impress. In High Reaches, the males responsible for getting the female pregnant are not allowed to Stand either. Telgar is more prone to looking the other way for the boys.

In both Weyrs, your rank as a craftsman means nothing. A journeyman candidate will not be spared from hard labor or tedious jobs any more than an apprentice or even someone lacking an official craft all together would be. If you're a candidate, you do what you're told when you're told, and that's that.

Who do the candidates listen to?

- The Weyrwoman always comes first, followed by the Weyrleader.

- The Candidatemaster. This person usually gives the orders since it's their job and the higher ups are too busy anyway.

- If there is no Candidatemaster, the Headwoman. (Such is the case in High Reaches currently.)

- Any dragonrider who "asks" for assistance within reason, as long as this does not prevent them from obeying an order / side track them from obeying an order from one of the higher rank weyrfolk. If this power is abused by the riders, candidates can (and in fact are expected to) bring the issue to the Candidatemaster/Headwoman, and they are not available, to the Weyrwoman. If she is not available, the Weyrleader.

Can my candidate be removed from the Weyr or stripped of their title?

Yes, candidates can be both kicked out of a Weyr and lose their title as candidate.

This takes severe wrong doings to accomplish. Some examples would be fighting too much, drinking too much, fighting then drinking too much, mouthing off to the authorities, breaking a rule of some sort, not following orders and so on.

The people who have the right to remove someone from candidacy are: Weyrwoman, Weyrleader, Candidatemaster and in the case of High Reaches the Headwoman.

The Weyrwoman and Weyrleader can dismiss a punishment issued by a Candidatemaster of their choosing. However, without any intervention from them, a Candidatemaster (and Headwoman for HR) is basically allowed to prevent anyone they want from standing.

(Note: We welcome conflict! But IC actions will have IC consequences. If your candidate smacks the Weyrwoman on a dare, don't take it personally if they are, ICly, kicked out of that Weyr.)
