Is That a Threat or a Promise?

I'll sit by my widow,
yet again,

and watch the rain pour down,
radio on,

with words that I disregard
completely.

Will you please tell me
what I did

to deserve this unusual,
cruel, harsh,

and unbearable punishment
that causes so much pain?

I hide it well, because it's
only in me.

So I put on a pretty face
(if mine counts)

just to please my friends
whom I love.

They are the only ones
I'm fooling

because I can't fool myself
anymore.

I'm falling apart and only you
know why.

Why won't you tell me?
It makes no sense
and you don't seem to want
to change your mind
but by the time I'm
done with you,

you will.

His Painful Gift

The snow falls lightly down,
each flake a fragile treasure.
They are all different... perfect,
don't worry God, no pressure.

I watch them drift in the light breeze,
leaning a little to the right.
It simply takes my breath away.
What a magnificent sight.

I sigh as I watch silently
and think how I wish that I
was so perfect, so intricate,
but a wish is only a lie.

Never Know

The leaves left lovely Mother Tree
and fell to the freezing ground
Mother Tree cried in the dusk light
as the leaves gathered in a mound

As time turned toward Winter
the leaves were smothered in silver snow
"What happened to them?" Mother Tree asks
but she may never know

Starry Night Sky

Sitting at my window
looking at the sky
just wondering why
this is happening
to us, to me,
to my family.
What it is we did
to deserve this,
be so close to Death's kiss,
to have to hide
in this attic for years,
shedding so many tears;
tears for joy,
tears for love,
and tears just because of
the fact that we
have nothing...

...nothing at all.

(Inspired by Anne Frank.)

End With You and Me

The radio came on again...
another song to remind me of you,
but that's normal.
Well, it is for me.

Everything I heard
caused some reference back to you,
so that I'd almost cry
and not know what's wrong with me.

I'd sit in my room
and think of you
hours upon end
until my sister came in to talk to me.

My mind would wander
but always end up back on you...
another peice of proof that you don't
know how much you really mean to me.

Now go back and see if
a pattern jumps out at you.
The second and fourth lines
of each stanza end with "you" and "me."

Will life?

Anybody have any comments? Feel free to post them, but I'd prefer you not to post poetry unless you ask and are okay'd first. (Unless it's in response to my poetry.) biggrin

These are really good. My fave has to be the one about Mother Tree. The first one you posted; I've never actually seen a format like that, it made it very interesting. ^^ I like them!

Hopes and Dreams

Good morning,
Sweetheart.
Have I mentioned
lately
that I miss you?
That I'm having
problems
going so long
without you?

I need the comfort
of you
right next to me.
I don't care if we
can't be together.
I need you here
to break the silence
that's fighting
with the darkness
to overwhelm me.
I need to know
that I'm alive.
I need you
to show me
that there's life
beyond our little
Southwest Missouri
hopes and dreams.
I need you
to tell me
that everything
will be alright...
that I'm free
to sleep
without the fear
that you won't be there
when I awake.

I'm on my way
to Sunny California
but I could care less,
because I want you
and the light
that you
give off...
the warmth
that you
radiate.
The warmth
that seaps
into every ounce
of my body,
killing the pain
that has built up
over time.
I don't need
the sun...
You are my sun.
You give me everything
I could ever need...
Light,
Warmth,

Strength.

Evertime I see you
it's like
you become
even more
of what I want,
which is hard
to believe
because I thought
you were
absolutely
wonderful

before.

I need you.
I hope
you can
understand
that I care.
I want to say
thanks...
...for being there.
...for all the advice.
...for caring for me
when few others
would.
...for letting me
love you.

You would be amazing as a poet

more perfect then a shepard
more fragile then a sheep
and through the mist shall call
a riddle and a poem
