[First character, OH MY.]
Name: Erikai
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Craft: Tailor
Rank: Apprentice
History: Born within the Telgar Weyr, Erikai has been exposed to her fair share of Dragons by them simply being a part of daily life. Her father has, for as long as she can recall, been in the tanner’s craft while her mother a prominent baker and living elsewhere. From where Erikai stood, things were perfect in that little world she lived; she had no responsibilities but to be a child and grow…
Grow at least…physically.
Edward, Erikai's father was becoming increasingly popular amongst a small lot of riders nearer to his workshop, so the long days became longer when orders were made in the double digits. There were days he often could not make it home, leaving Erikai with friends who offered a hand in his struggle, but soon even that became a burden on all. At the bubbly sixth turn of Erikai’s life, she was an extremely silent child who could barely remember to breathe let alone form a sentence. It became clear that Edward’s constant absence was putting a damper on Erikai’s mind and emotional wellbeing; the father felt incapable of helping his daughter’s mentality blossom.
The following turn, Erikai’s seventh, Edward could no longer let the child’s mind decay. He saw potential in her and on the very moment he had to spare went out to find the woman who had raised him, his mother Adriane, and begged for her apprenticeship for Erikai.
Upon acceptance, almost eleven turns passed under the ever watchful eyes of Adriane, drawing Erikai to the path of a tailor. Everyone in Telgar needed cloth, it seemed suited for his daughter to take up a craft that would be beneficial and with Adriane being as skilled as she was, Edward had no doubts this training would aid in Erikai’s lack of proper education…but things were bad from the start with the trainee, and every turn seemed to worsen more than the last; the wits, the common sense, and even the sheer attention span that was needed in any craft lacked in the child. She had a desire TO learn quickly that just didn’t match her capability to. This wasn't to say she was barren of intellect, having picked up a lot of the trade and managed to function at the BARE MINIMUM, but it hinted to a longer and slower amount of time to gain any kind of knowledge...ever. This was immediately addressed by Erikai and she became distressed with her lethargic mind not keeping pace with the world around it, and Adriane too felt the wave of frustration as she would need to slow down all too often for the elders liking.
Neither her father, nor grandmother would give up however. Adriane had not been a part of Erikai’s life for the first several years and blamed Edward for that, but she would not let her grandbaby suffer. The reasons behind Edward’s decision were obscured by fronts and lies on his part, but for Adriane, knowing her son was the way to the solid truth.
Adriane had a…particular fondness to females that neither seemed too frowned upon, or all too welcomed within the weyr. Edward, a diehard heterosexual, could not fathom the way of life she chose; it was unnatural! With mating flights, the instinctual desires that rose off the ground and all the riders like luring scents, should attract one gender to the opposite; but Adriane had other ideas. Granted, he accepted his mother, but that didn’t mean he had to do it in close range. For as long as he could manage, Edward chose to leave Adriane’s life separate from his own, never taking Erikai over nor mentioning the existence of a grandmother to the child. There was also the influence it would have on his daughter…oh, how Edward dreaded the thought of Erikai’s future had it been intertwined with Adriane’s.
But that was all history now as Edward needed his mother’s wisdom. One could be vengeful, hold a chip on their shoulder but that was not the way for the old woman. This was her family, and though loose ties were often kept with relatives due to the ‘freedom’ that sex upheld, she was devoted to her bloodlines.
Adriane [though not vengeful, she sure was pricy!] continued her practice and training with Erikai for a small fee; leather straps. Having taken on a ‘temporary’ female mate, Adriane wished to gift her companion straps crafted with patience and elegance…for what purpose? Adriane’s female lover was quite the rider.
And it was when Erikai met this twenty-nine old woman [COUGAR ALERT] that she became fascinated with the creatures who, for as long as she had lived, infiltrated her life from the get go. Erikai was not the brightest bulb in the box, she just as many had faults that needed work and time to overcome; but she was capable of striving for goals, and one in particular surfaced as Adriane’s mate introduced Erik to a lovely green drake who stole her heart.
Those eyes, that skin, that mind. If becoming a tailor was not her calling, dragonriding would be...
Appearance: Where Erik's personality lacks...her features have potential to make up for it. With hair that reaches down to her tail bone and and is blond in color, it has the capability to float on the winds that pass in the weyr; but usually the nappy strands are tangled and darker (because of filth) than is natural, kept in a braid set high on her head.
Though she is not often outdoors, her skin is the shade honey and is covered in a dozen or more freckles across her nose, cheeks, and shoulders. (Her father states this was given to her by the mother since he is extremely fair skinned and prone to burns instead of tans.) Those same cheeks that blush when frustrated are, like her hair, set high on that face, with a petite nose arched upwards and her lips fixed in a pout. Her eyes are almond shaped and are a very light brown color, features such as eyebrows and lashes dark compared to her light hair. Standing at 5’5, her body is proportionate to itself. Where curves are deemed necessary, not too much or not too little, one can find them since Erikai is a stickler for keeping a fit, well adapting form.
Personality: Erikai is humble, kind, generous, outspoken…and quite the hot head when provoked! Having grown up with a father who at times could not always be there, Erik could be seen as an accomplishment amongst the single parent society. She is often offering a helpful hand when she can, perceived as a perfect young woman to many, but in reality this is not so. Prone to bursts of rage, one must be careful how they speak with her, about her, or of her family or else she’ll be glad to stir up a fight! More often then not, it is Erikai who takes something "the wrong way", which leads to these arguments.
She is also not the exceptional learner, which leads to self discouraging and even, on rare occasions, self inflicted pain. But on brighter notes Erikai has a very kind disposition on a more consistent basis. People who are objective, and do not pass judgement upon first look usually tend to like her...however, making friends seems a lot easier for Erikai than keeping them...
Other: + Erikai's learning disability is not apparent to anyone who isn't teaching her or learning side by side with her. + Erikai favors green over all other colors of dragon

Heyo Shia! Glad to see you finally here! We need a couple of things tweeked, then we'll be happy to accept you:
- For starts, the affair issue. Sex is a really, really open issue in all Weyrs because of mating flights. It doesn't just effect riders, since riders whose dragon loses a mating flight will often substitute workers as their sexual partners. This is considered normal and acceptable, and allows for an open attitude for all the Weyr, even just workers who are raised there. It is possible that two workers would be less open, but we'd feel more comfort if her parents were at least Holdborn (and thus born into a place with more traditional morals than a Weyr).
- On the STD issue, we're not actually sure where canon stands on that, but they don't exist in the shop because with mating flights happening they would kill way, way too many riders (and other people). (But we found the idea amusing and original, so kudos none the less.)
- The Pernese don't have last names. I'm assuming "Barker" in the name "Adriane Barker" is a last name. All you need to do for that is make it just "Adriane" and you're good to go.
- Nutritionist falls into Healercraft, which people have to go to the Hall to study before they're considered "real" healers. She can still have learned this outside the Hall from someone, but she wouldn't be considered a "real" one. A good example of this would be the High Reaches Weyrwoman, who learned basic first aid under a journeyman healer, but would still not be considered a healer craftsman because she didn't go to the Hall to learn. Some crafts you can learn within a Hold or even a Weyr, but this is one where you must go to the Hall if you want to be recognized for it.
- On the subject of her hair, we'd like to change it to a more a realistic color. A young girl with three different colors, including white or gold (unless you mean blonde) hair isn't realistic in the Pernverse.

Hair is now strictly gold, switched her craft to Tailoring, dropped her mother from the story, and Adriane's last name [and gave her a more dominant roll in history], and used sexual orientation as a basis to Erikai's father not introducing the two prior...
EDIT: Also, nearer to the end where I put "Stole her heart", I just mean she fell for dragons in general, not that particular dragon. She does favor green, however.
Let me know if anything needs changing! <3

I'm going to approve you since the last change is really very minor. XD
Dragonriders use riding straps rather than a saddle. So Adriane would probably be getting leather from her son (very nice leathers, different colours for example) to give to her girlfriend rather than making her a saddle. <3
