So,
First off don't bash me for joining a different service first. I picked what I felt was right for my life, now I think at the stage I am in my life, I'd like something similar but different. Something more challenging and I like the majority of what I've seen with the Marines I've worked with, and I'd like to give that a shot. This being said, my husband is a Marine at the moment and we have a 4 1/2 month old son. He'd be closer to 3 years old when I would be going into the Marines but does anyone have experience with a change in their branch? Or going into MCT or MOS school with your child? I understand a child wouldn't be allowed to stay with you for boot, but what about the schools afterwords?
If not, well, thanks anyways.

Someone I know went the opposite direction from Marines to Navy to become a Nuke operator. Didn't work out so well for them, but that it can be done is about all I know.

IF it's what you want, go for it. I had a PC that was origionally from the Navy, and knew an arty mech that cross-decked to the army. Of course, you'd have to go through bootcamp again, and with a child that may not be the best course of action.

i wouldnt switch from the marines because there are very few because they are special and only few are picked while soldiers are in need of help the marines(the underdogs)are there to help them but they are never thanked all the credit goes to the army sad i know this because my mom dada and uncle are marines

I don't know for sure if a Marine recruiter could be trusted to answer all your questions honestly but that might be the best source of information for you.
I've been told the Marines do not transfer rank, so you'd probably be starting over. Boot camp would definitely be without your child as you said, but I believe throughout SOI and your MOS training you would still have to go without. Although it would be good to find out if you would even need the MOS training again if you stayed within the same job when you switched branches...
If anything you might have an easier time switching between those two branches since the Marines are a component of the Navy so that could be helpful.
