Mars sat neatly upon the earth, hands folded and legs tucked up under her body. Kneeling there really as her hands were folded in a soft form of prayer, head bowed gently, long red hair flowing down to cover half of her face the other free bits tucked neatly up behind her ears.
She stayed there but a few moments, offering up her silent wishes to the heavens before moving from the spot. In front of her stood five small stones, roughly made and dark with age. Moss and vines slowly made their way up some, what looked like the beginnings of tree roots peeked up out of the earth around others. Yet each seemed lovingly cared for in a way, if the lotus wrapped rice cakes that lay neatly placed in front of each showed any sign of that care.
Mars did not often come by, the memory's often too sad and agitating, and yet other times it made her smile to see all her old friends again neatly in a row, always there for her until the time her life did end.
On this day of their anniversary though she came, always came no matter what the weather or time to share a bit of food with them in remembrance. To read over the words scrawled across the stones years ago.
