One of my best friends (who is white) has a brother that is a year younger than us. He had a crush on me, and it was a joke that we were going to get married. This summer he moved down to Louisianna with his dad, so when my friend went down their for Thanksgiving, she was telling me how much he changed. The southern white boys down their instilled it in his head negative thoughts about blacks... Him and his cousin were having a conversation about them... I think his cousin called them dirty... but my friend's little brother said that he didn't really mind blacks, but he'd just never date them.
My friend told me this all over the phone, and I try to find things funny instead of getting mad, so I said something about, "So much for that marriage." And she told me that she said the same thing, but I am different, cause I'm 'educated'...
Erm. Okay.
So by that statement... I am guessing that he wouldn't talk to uneducated white girls either? The comment kind of upset me, because it seems like an assumption that an overwhelming portion of black people are uneducated. Needless to say, I have lost respect for him.
