^-^
I'm a Canadian university student and I've been a lacto-vegetarian since April of this year. There are several reasons I decided to change my diet, the most important of which would be my introduction to a faith with a strong opposition to eating other living beings. They presented the morality issue to me in a way I had never thought of which hit me so deeply that I began weening myself off of meat.
I support vegetarianism in all its forms, veganism as well. After becoming a vegetarian I was actually surprised by how many people I knew that were also vegetarian, thinking of being vegetarian, or had tried being vegetarian but had to give it up because they made themselves sick. I think I was lucky because one of my friends that I met last fall is a vegan, so when I decided to become a vegetarian she was greatly enthusiastic and helped me make the transition and still continues to help me find ways of finding and modifying recipes for my diet. I was also lucky because the faith I entered is, strickly vegetarian, and they have permitted me into the kitchen to help prepare the food being offered to their deity; I have learned a good number of tips from them for keeping up my iron and protein and numerous other things as well.
I think I'll leave it at that for now mrgreen
