So does anyone know the point of bloomers? Since no one see's them the only thing I would think you would need them for would be

...

to keep your legs from rubbing together? xD

Any thoughts?

Okay, so here's the thing. Bloomers in the Victorian age were puffy shorts that sort of resembled a skirt. Ladies could wear bloomers while riding that newfangled bicycle and not have to worry about their dress getting caught up in the chain. Or about the whole straddling the bike in a skirt. (you were supposed to ride side saddle on horses for that same straddling bit.) These bloomers were frowned upon by older generations while more modern feminist women were into them since they were like pants for women. (SCANDALOUS!)

Before these fabulous bloomer pants were made, bloomers were underpants for ladies. That's right. Women wore big baggy shorts under their dresses instead of the small and snug panties we wear today! It was pretty scandalous to let anyone see your bloomers. Like picking up your skirt today. It's just trashy! (although back then showing your ankles was also scadalous...lol)

And now you know all you need to know about bloomers!

Also, a link to a wiki about it that includes a little nod to Japanese culture with an anime picture for reference!

The point of what? Bloomers? They're underwear. Like panties and bras.

Ya know what's kinda sad about it all though? 90% of my information about bloomer pants came from reading the Samantha books when I was a kid. (You know, American Girls?)

Everything Mugoi said is the truth. Thank God we don't have to wear those monstrosities anymore. At least with the Loli wear, it's meant as part of the gettup - they don't have to use it as real underwear. I've seen cute ones that have pink and/or blue ribbons on the bottom that partially show under the skirt. It's not meant to be seen, but the idea was that even the undergarments are meant to be super cute too.
