I just saw a preview for it during my last trip to the movie theater. Looks pretty good from what I've seen, but I am sure there will be plenty of complaints from people who don't like having their "secrets" exposed on the big screen. rolleyes

Of course it will happen. But these are things that need to be exposed on the big screen. Stars always say that they want to help out the community with their fame and this is one way to do it. To expose the secrets that make causes so much problems with people.

And what does that have to do with the Hair movie? And "Northern translation"? That's a little offensive. xd

When I read the OP I was like oh god what is this going to be about!?! And after seeing the trailer I need to see this movie! I'm interested in documentaries like this that look into why people do the things they do that are informative, entertaining, and have good fun humor.
I'm sure Chris Rock didn't think when he was making this movie. I need to address this issue to educate all the white people. I'm doing this to expose the black woman's hair secrets. I'm pretty sure most white people won't even care about this movie. And maybe some will. Those will be the ones with the black gf/wife. the ones who have a good number of black female relatives/friends and the oddly curious bunch. But who cares if they do see it?

When the Waynes act like fools then every one's in stitches laughing but when someone talks with some dern sense then black people want to get all serious. They get offended about the wrong mess. They don't want the world to know they mess themselves up coveting other peoples' features. They don't want to be "embarrassed." They NEED to be embarrassed for putting caustic chemicals on their head. I love little kids because they'll give it away. They don't beat around the bush with these technicalities and euphamisms BS.

Correct. It's like don't try to play for both teams. If you going to be all offend all the bloody time then be offended by it all. Seriously why come down hard on Chris Rock for his movie when you should be coming down on Chris Brown or better yet some of the current political changes.

I guess I understand now: if you're going to let a movie like Good Hair offend you, then you should also be offended by the Wayans' movies, and the Boondocks; in other words: don't be a hypocrite. That's true, and that's actually what probably happens, since I don't see fans of the Boondocks and the Wayans' movies hating a movie like Good Hair.

I cannot wait to see this movie. I just...wow. I dunno what to say. I'm going through this thing right now where I'm super frustrated and re-considering getting back on the "creamy crack". There are so many opinions out there against "nappy" versus straight. I have nothing against the women who choose to go straight but jeez...some of them look me up and down on the Red Line because I'm not like them. confused
Anyway...not gonna rant. xp I wish there was an extended version. I could watch this movie all day long. It's going to be so interesting. Especially seeing where Indian hair comes from. I've seen a few previews via a blogger on Xanga called blackbeatpress. I wish I could have been at the premiere but really, this is one movie I'd be proud to pay for..

I dunno I just like seeing more Blacks getting in the movie making business to tell the true. Because these are the kinds of movies I like to see. Save your white comedies and romantic films. I want to see this. 3nodding
