"Being an indoor feli, I wouldn't expect you to understand a female being protective to keep me here, instead of going after her young." he growled, his nose crinkling as he snarled at the mother, attempting to try and get her to go back to her kits, before he sat down, his tail wrapping itself about one of his legs, and simply starting a silent stare war with the vixen.

After was seemed to be five minute, the fox turned tail, and booked it back into the forest.

"I may be a killer, but I refuse to orphan the helpless."

She sighed as he said that, slowly sitting down beneath at tree. The comment hurt, a bit, she wouldn't lie - but it was probably the truth. She was an indoor Feli with no real clue of how the world worked.

And that suddenly made her feel quite alone, and quite unimportant. Like a paper bag blowing in the wind.

"Well, I suppose there's a heart in there afterall," she said quietly, her eyes distant as she looked away. She was sulking now. A pity party. She'd never had one of these before, because she didn't usually care what others said about her.

But she did care what Kenji said, for some reason, even if he didn't mean it insultingly.

Kenji left her to her sulking, meanderign into his lake and standing ankle-deep in it, purring and attempting to get his headache to go away, even though being in the water himself didn't help too much, as even his own presence gave him slight migrane.

Everything else, well... anything, no matter how small it was, was a factor, which is why there were no fish in the lake.

Looking back to Aino, Kenji quirked a brow. "... Doesn't mean you don't have time to learn, though."

She glanced to him, tail flickering, and shrugged, "It doesn't matter," she said quietly, with a cold, heartless, rather painful laugh, "I'll always be a grumpy little indoor Feli." She sighed softly, glancing away. She knew she had never been, and never would be, nice. She knew that she was alwyas going to be an old grump. But it wasn't until now that she realized that exact knowledge, that exact cold hearted arrogance, that was what was going to leave her inevitably alone.

"I'll grow old and be the lonely little old maid curled up in front of the fire, too weak to even swim any longer, with a tatter, limp fin." she laughed, as if it amused her, but it was clear she was more worried than anything and it didn't, and couldn't even amuse her in the slightest.

Kenji snorted a bit. "You think YOU'LL be alone? You have a neice, and a sister, whom I'm sure would be around. I'd be more alone then yourself. My sister wouldn't visit me. I know that." He took a few steps out of his lake and flopped down in the wet mud-sand bank of the water, resting his head upon his paws.

"As nice as that thought sometimes is, it's not exactly pleasant, is it?" he inquired, crinkling his nose a little at his own nonsensical speaking, which he himself didn't understand.

"But I'm sure one-day you'll meet someone who'll stick around, don't be such a pessimist."
PostPosted: Sat Dec 10, 2005 11:11 am

She laughed, coldly, rather feeling sorry for herself and it was obvious. "Why be such an optimist?" she asked him, eyebrow quirking, "after all the time I've been here, the only friend I've got, or the closest thing to a friend I've got, is someone who is completely opposite of me." She sighed, shutting her eyes.

"And don't be such a pessimist either. After all, you're rather attractive, as long as this secret, mysterious other doesn't come near that lake, then you could have a very productive relationship," there was that laugh again, her tail flicking. She glanced to the sky. Hmm. To be alone. Not as grand a she always thought it would be, not now that she had a taste of companionship.

"And please, I come visit you, don't I?" she asked quietly, turning her eyes to look at him, "what need have you for your sister, not now that you have.. me." She let her brows furrow though - not entirely sure he cared for her being around.

Kenji chuckled a bit. "You're calling me an optimistic pessimist by the sound of it." he smirked, crossing one paw over the other and lifting his head to look at her. "And you've implied that I wouldn't come to visit you, either." he mused, rising to his paws and shaking to get all the water out of his fur, before brushing it down so one side looked like a mass of dirt and filth.

He made no faces at how... lovely.... he looked at that, but instead simply walked another 5 feet, and plopped down on the grass instead. "And I guess in turn I implied you wouldn't visit me.. not that I'd expect many people to want to."

She laughed softly as she shook her head, "not an optimistic pessimist, just having different views on different subjects." She smiled, weakly, glancing to him. "I suppose I did imply that you wouldn't come visit me, and I'm sorry," she murmured with a little bow of her head, "I guess I just figured I wasn't worth the time, afer all, you belong outdoors. Not cooped up inside like I am most of the time."

She smiled, though, her tail flicking, "but after all, us loners have to stick together, right?" she knew the statement was contridicting, which may have been why she liked it.

Kenji quirked a brow. "Maybe they do.. some loners are better off alone, though...Locked away were nobody can find them." he crinkled his nose a bit. "That's how my father was." ((Okay.. so he doesn't have a real Feli-father.. D: I can make stuff up! )) He rested his head upon his paws.

"Someday.. it'll get too cold out here, then what'll I do? Stay out here and freeze to death? My lake wouldn't be too well to stay in either, it'd get colder then the snow." he sighed a bit.

"Eventually, I'd be driven inside, if only to the porch." he smirked a bit. "So we'd see each other, if only through the window."

She laughed softly at the thought of watching him lounge on a snow covered porch, peeking at him through the window. "And we'll write secret messages in the ice crystals Jack Frost leaves behind on the window?" Her tail wavered, blowing a bit of leaves up, watching them dance in their dying ceremony - just dead brown ghosts of their former life.

"I don't really have parents," she said quietly, laying her head on her paws, "the closest I ever got was Fawn, even if she's just an adopted sister. I think I'd rather not have parents though, not after I see how it hurt Fawn to lose them and her brother too," she whispered, shutting her eyes.

Kenji laughed and nodded slightly. "I'd like that." he purred, lifting his head back up, then finally standing up, having gotten enough out of lounging around for now. Cracking his neck to one side, he shrugged.

"Family hurts to lose, but it's what keeps us sane as children, and it gives some a reason to be. I don't mean to sound sappy with that, it's just a simple truth." he shrugged a little.

"I guess I can see your standpoint, though."

She laughed softly at his reaction to her statement, slowly standing, stretching in an utmost feline way - paws pushed far forward with her back arched, a little tremble snaking down her spine before she straightened up completely. Her gaze landed on him again, like liquid teal, her tail wavering as she moved closer to him, "Well, we'll have to race to beat the children to the windows. I suppose there's some kind of awe as a child, writing in the foggy melting crystals of a winter morning, like you could speak to father Christmas himself."

A grin split her maw though, not overly excited, but remembering something. If there was one thing that Ainokami would come outdoors for - it was the snow. It always looked so serene, so peaceful, so.. clean. That was, until all the little Feli-brats darted out into it - tracking it up and turning over the mud that lay beneath, making it little more than a slushy swamp of faded white and chocolate brown. At the the last thought, she sneered a bit - simply at the thought of children. "There'll be snow," she said at last, smiling once again, though slightly less enthused, as she glancedback to him. "I wake up early to see it, before everyone tramples it. To see it when it's just fallen." For once, thinking of this, she didn't look quite so.. mean.

She flicked her tail though, letting the fin waver from side to side and catch the air in gusts with it's fanned out webbing. "What shall we do now, mighty lake king?" She asked with a little purr, her facial expressions once again faded to the emotionless facade she usually wore - but there was a twinkle in her eyes. A promise of winter, and she loved the winter.

Kenji was unaware of the awe that children had with the windows in the winter, his brows furrowing together as Aino went on to explain this logic, the large male nodding gruffly in agreement. "They shant stay there for too long. Children would be driven to run away from the 'being whom inhabits the porch' as I do.. sooner or later I'd be driven to haunt the sink of the house even." he mused, chuckling.

Jerking his head in the direction of the aqua's neice, the Kelpie grinned. "Might as well keep an eye on the kiddo, less she wanders where she shouldn't be." he purred... (though that's awkward since she just grew up. XD!!) before starting off into the direction of the frolicking wild.

She laughed softly at the explination he offered of himself, thinking that the-being-of-the-porch didn't honestly sound to grand, "you could always come and inhabit the rug in front of the fireplace with me, it's big enough for more than just me. As long as you keep your puddle to yourself," she added the last bit with a little of a smirk, batting at him with her finned tail.

As he began to teeter totter off in the direction of her niece, she caught pace, walking after him - eyes settled on the white and yellow blob in the distance. "There's not but one place I worry about her being," she murmured as she walked along, "and I trust that I have a friend there to look out for her, or, one that would at least come and get me if she got too stubborn." She walked along, watching as the blot of bright colors grew bigger the cloesr they got.
