name Traugott Kohl age 32 occupation blacksmith
height 7' 4" weight 535 lbs physical description Traugott is an intimidating behemoth of a man due almost entirely to a disease that will not have a name for many hundreds of years; Gigantism. Because of this disease, he has grown unusually tall, has a slightly drawn and older-looking face. He is a big-boned man and one who very clearly takes part in a lot of physical labor as he is something of a solid block of muscle. His face is long and strong-jawed and almost always covered in itchy stubble, and his hair is straight and black, always pulled into a pony tail that hangs just an inch below the tops of his shoulder blades. His eyes are a bright blue and always looks somewhat angry, sitting above his long and pointed nose.
personality Traugott is a very angry and unsocial man outwardly, which is understandable with the frequency he is ignored or avoided for a condition he cannot control. As with any human being, he wants to be happy and loved and, lacking both of these traits, he has grown bitter at life and people. That isn’t to say, however, that his life can change in an instant. Unfortunately, as per his disease, Traugott is constantly stiff or in pain, and he has a rather weak heart. He is sickly as a general rule, but he refuses to let others see this weakness in him, and he seems to have an incredible complex with maintaining an ultra-masculine appearance and reputation. past Traugott’s parents immigrated from to the city of Wynander when Trau was 16 and had already stopped growing, 6 years before Sehket's Awakening. His mother, Jutta, was from a relatively affluent family who did not approve of her running off to marry his father, a low-class cabbage farmer. When she got pregnant by him, she absconded with various family heirlooms to another, smaller town called Duunan. For 16 years they lived a very fair upper-middle-class life until Jutta grew ill and money began to spread thin. Traugott was uprooted from his home town and pulled from his academy by his father, who hoped for a better life in Wynander. Within two years of moving, Jutta succumbed to her mysterious illness. Anselm wished to take her body to their homeland, but young Traugott had already gone through the trials of a blacksmith’s assistant and wished to begin a new business in his new home, which he had grown to love. His father, Anselm, left sadly with his dead wife and no son. Traugott began doing odd jobs for various wealthy families until he had enough funds to outfit the front room of his family farmhouse as a blacksmith’s shop. He was popular for the quality of his work and well-known for his size. Business boomed until Sehket’s Awakening when all Hell broke loose, and afterward when nobody could seem to afford fancy metal weaponry or furniture. Luckily, Traugott had saved his money, being a man of simple living, and did not suffer so much as he knew others did. Since then, he has often served as a blacksmith for the Peace Enforcement unit to sustain himself. He grows most of his own food on the farmland he has kept, spending money only on meat and the occasional miller. Farming and smithing are both difficult jobs, though, and they have taken their toll on the once optimistic young man.
other Traugott is fluent in both English and his native tongue. He has a slight accent remaining, even after so many years in Wynander, although it only becomes strong apparent when he is experiencing some strong emotion.

card symbols A robed man or monk carrying a lantern. A barren landscape.
tarot story After a long and busy lifetime, building, creating, loving, hating, fighting, compromising, failing, succeeding, the Fool feels a profound need to retreat. In a small, rustic home deep in the woods, he hides, reading, cleaning, organizing, resting or just thinking. But every night at dusk he heads out, traveling across the bare, autumnal landscape. He carries only a staff and a lantern. It is during these restless walks from dusk till dawn, peering at and examining whatever takes his fancy, that he sees and realizes things he's missed, about himself and the world. It is as if the secret corners in his head were being slowly illuminated; corners he never knew existed. In a way, he has become the Fool again; as in the beginning, he goes wherever inspiration leads him. But as the Fool, his staff rested on his shoulder, carrying unseen his pack. The Fool was like the pack, whatever it was he could be was wrapped up, unknown. The Hermit's staff leans out before him, not behind. And it carries a lantern, not a pack. The Hermit is like the lantern, illuminated from within by all he is.
tarot meaning Represented by Virgo, the Hermit is a card of introspection, analysis and, well, virginity. This is not a time for socializing; the card indicates, instead, a desire for peace and solitude. Nor is it a time for action, discussion or decisions. It is a time to think, organize, ruminate, and take stock. There may be feelings of frustration and discontent during this time of withdrawal. But such times lead to enlightenment, illumination, clarity. In regards to people, the Hermit represents a wise, inspirational person, friend, teacher, therapist, someone the Querent usually sees alone, someone the rest of the Querent's friends and family may not know about. This a person who can shine a light on things that were previously mysterious and confusing. They will help the Querent find what it is they are seeking.

There is a small farmhouse on the edge of the Rumwell Community that barely stands, made of old wood greyed and stained by the strains of time. It is known to creak in heavy winds and the roof has not been thatched in years, but everyone knows that it is inhabited. Hanging outside the front door to the east is a weathered wooden sign carved into the shape of an anvil and engraved with the word "Blacksmith".
The front room acts as the blacksmith shop itself. The door is to the east, and the south wall is lined with windows that generally stand open to relieve the heat within. To the east is first the anvil and then the forge which sits upon a section of the floor that has been cobbled. To the north of the forge is a table burned deep with scorch marks of bizarre shapes. Smithing tools line the furniture and walls with clear patterns, smallest to largest, accompanied by a blacksmith's apron just a little too large for most people and too crudely-sewn to be from a tailor.
On the east wall is another door that does not lead outside. Behind it is the bedroom, which contains only a strangely large bed and a long locked trunk. On the north wall of the main room is a storage room often hung with drying vegetables and meats. In the right corner sits a black pot for cooking and beside it a long, high table.
The yard is fairly well-kept save the slightly unsavory length of the grass. A cart sits behind the house, a canvas laid over the top to hide whatever hides within. Beyond that is an immaculate vegetable patch that a dozen or so hens and roosters wander. The entire thing is surrounded by a stone wall nearly 8 feet tall with protruding nails and a trip wire with bells on top.
