Fort Knox is the worst base to go to. Everyone hates it. I never want to go back.
But on the lighter note. Training was long. 15 weeks of constant Basic type training. I am tired of Star grabbers, burpies, and just running period...
So yeah while I was in my last two weeks of training I about saw the Army make the worst decision ever and TRADOC almost made basic training for pussies.
If you didn't hear for about two weeks the only "corrective action" the Drill Sargeants could do was 5 push ups in red phase, 10 in white, 15 in blue and 20 in gold/black..... gold/black is for Tankers and the Cav scouts.
Also they can eat what ever they want... Most stupid thing I think...
But yeah other than that Training went well and I am heading to Fort Bliss on the 15th

For the record, Infantry does Black and Gold phase as well. But yeah, the idea of that kind of corrective training is mind-numbing. I still can't understand why the Army keeps beating a dead retarded horse by revising basic over and over again. Why they continue to "fix" unbroken things is beyond me......

For the record MPs get gold. That's nothing, While I was in OSUT in Ft. Leonard Wood one of the companies training with us actually gave their soldiers "Stress Cards" Basically these things were if you were stressed out than you handed your DS this card and they couldn't yell at you for 48 hours or something like that. How did I find out about this. My company got sent to the Pit for "Extra PT" to see if it was stressful enough to have them. Thankfully we didn't get any and most of the people who weren't fit for the job dropped out. I know it's cold to say, but the Military isn't for everyone and people need to realize it. Basic Training is there to weed out the potentially good soldiers from the ones who shouldn't be soldiers so that the casualty and death rates stay as low as possible. People don't seem to get that on the civilian side and keep wanting to try and make us a "Nicer Army". *sigh* Now to get off my soap box since I've obviously been preaching to the choir on this one.

I experienced Infantry OSUT, we didn't know wtf Black and Gold phase were lol. As for Wheel Vehicle Mechanic School, it was more laid back but the lack of discipline was mind numbing. I got so used to everything being ran so tight and smooth that when I went to Jackson I was pretty much stunned.
I hate the fact we let civilians work in the Army. If it weren't for them this stress card bs wouldn't be happening. I'm not gonna lie I sustained several injuries in Basic Training but it made me drive on, work harder to finish. I keep hearing about people getting cellphones on the weekends and s**t now and I'm like "wtf".
If you can't go a day without talking to your gf/bf or Mom, you don't belong in the armed forces. Because there may be times you go out on 24/48 hour missions where you're not allowed or able to contact people back home.
It sounds crazy but I wish we woulda got smoked in WVMS at Jackson like we did Infantry OSUT at Benning, people's attitudes would've been a whole lot different.
