Now that we have a scanner I will probably be selling chibis and what not, [I hope I am not talentless] other than that my gold comes from good old hard work.
The art will help me get all my stolen items back hopefully!
As for the cash shop etc I hate it because if you have money it is just that much easier to become "successful" where the rest of us can't afford the items due to inflation and rarity and even if we work our butts off we won't be able to get them. We should be able to work for it instead of give money for a gif file.

Well, I hate to say this, but sometimes you gotta invest money to earn money. You don't have to go all out, like you can buy a $5.00 gift card to buy 2 monthly collectibles and sell them on the marketplace as soon as you can open the envelope. There's a good 10,000+ there usually. I don't really have an art talent on Gaia either, but I did teach myself how to BBCode. It's simple and fun and even though I do the service for free, people tip me. Here, if you feel like it, you can teach yourself too form here: BBCoding and you
I posted somewhere else on the thread how to make gold...lemme go copy that for you:
HOW TO MAKE GOLD: Ok, here are some easy things I've learned that have helped me boost up my gold: ~Think of a minimum limit of gold you want to keep at all times and will try not to get below. (For me it's 200,000) With a limit, you're usually more determined to keep the gold instead of spending it right away. ~Check daily chance in every section if the navigation bar. ~Write in your journal once a day, even if all you write is bump. ~Post in one or more of your guilds/forum/arena you visit frequently. ~If possible, whatever junk items you have in your inventory, sell from your inventory NOT the marketplace. More than likely all your junk items' sell back value will be higher than it would if you were to sell it on the market place. ~Try to keep your marketplace shop full. Out with the clutter, in with the gold. ~Get rid of housing items you really don't want by selling it back. ~Enter a tektek challenge in the dressing room. You never know, your style may be perfect for the Gaian who asks for a tektek. ~Reply to more than one post on the Verizon bottle post thing. ~Play the games, save tickets, buy something from the Prize and Joy and sell it on the marketplace. ~Grab Booty whenever one flashes. razz
Yeah, if I come up with more then I'll post it. Hope that helped a little. 3nodding

No no. Never invest your own money in a website like Gaia or like in a MMO. And, if you must, do not throw away your cards. You just spent $25 on a little piece of plastic and you purchased an intangible "object" that you're never going to be able to use. I think that they're a waste of money. If you're going to get your hands on the items then go for buying it off of other people.
I agreed with a lot of the things that Water Angel said. Just don't exchange USD for Gaia cash. Remember, they can hypothetically take the website down at any time. Do YOU want to have $100 evaporate from your bank account? What about when you don't have time for Gaia anymore?
-Is so against Game Cards- Don't get me wrong. I've gotten them. I just hate them. They make things easier and sometimes you need life to be easier. That doesn't mean I don't regret it though. smile

I don't look at it as paying for a tiny plastic card. I think of it as donating to a website like I might any other site. It's a fact that they need money to run. People work there which means people have to get paid. I'm helping some Gaia employee put food on their table.
I think your (Miss Chloe) view is rather more harsh than mine. You see it as throwing your money into a fire whereas I see it as supporting a website that has provided me with a service (entertainment) for years. I support it the same way I support my local NPR station.
(that's right! I'm a geek! I listen to public radio with all its classical music and intellectually stimulating programing! lol)

If it were that I was supporting Gaia through buying cash cards I might not be so -pouty faced- about it but I look at all of the advertisements and the like and I know things are expensive but...
I suppose I also have an unrealistic view about it too. I feel like they've gotten money greedy lately to be honest [even though I realize that the prices of hosting and even living has skyrocketed lately]. I wish that they would just go with the cash shop instead of the other advertising or go with the other advertising instead of the cash shop. I don't like them both. >:

A - Because I have since the incident back in 2006.
B - I send a NEW hacked report every year as a reminder that they have yet to fix it [I have also spoken with MODS about it and they tell me the same thing].
And C - I am tired of waiting and have essentially given up save for the annual Hack report.
I hope that answers your questions. :3 If you know of any other way that I could get my account back please, don't hesitate to say anything. I'm getting tired of the RIG items and wish they'd just come out and say, "Dear Gaians: We are REALLY hurting for money this month. Please send large cash donations. You will be rewarded." and end it there. I almost feel like they're tricking people into spending tons of money trying to get that ONE REALLY COOL ITEM that's hidden deep within the RIG.

I agree. I hate feeling like I'm being swindled. x] Here in Hawai'i we're realizing how twisted all of the businessmen really are. It's terrible. Gh. If you wanna be a lawyer... Come out here. (Really.) It's sad. But...Oh well. smile

I agree. I would feel a lot better and would probably be more willing to give them money if I knew I was going to get a cool item and that it wasn't going to just be luck of the draw. Plus it would also help with the Gaia economy inflation and other problems these items create. :3 It could be like when the shops needed "Gold" and they gave us items. They could just do it with Gaia cash. mugoi_usagi Miss Chloie If it were that I was supporting Gaia through buying cash cards I might not be so -pouty faced- about it but I look at all of the advertisements and the like and I know things are expensive but... I agree with what you guys are saying, it would be a lot easier to just say, "Hey, we're broke, donate and we'll give you stuff" but the problem is it would only appeal to a certain demographic. I mean, we've all been on Gaia for a while now, right? So we've already established a kind of affection for the site to where, we wouldn't mind donating out of our pockets a little bit. But imagine if you just signed up with Gaia, and you're like a 12 year old. Gaia sends you a notice begging for some cash because their expenses have gone up. Would you do it? Would your parents let you do it? Most cases, not. It's much more convincing to parents to go buy a "cash card/giftcard" and let the kid go shop happy online.
Plus, Gaia is trying to be more fair, hence the reason why they got rid of the Donation Items, and made them Monthly Collectibles - so everyone gets an item, not just the select few (teens and adults) who could afford/choose to donate. With cash cards, they can allow all ages to get what they want. : /

Agreed. However, it's important to remember that Gaia Administrators themselves even admitted to it being only semantics. They changed it from "Donation Item" to "Monthly Collectible" because of the feedback they were getting from parents about teaching their children that "Donation = Gift in return" and that they didn't want their children growing up greedily thinking that a donation was really just a "gift" exchange. Originally, Gaia called it a "Donation Item" to dissuade the IRS from charging them for the money they got. NonProfit organizations don't get taxed on donations they may receive.
