The Guardian Name: Riley Rodes Nickname(s): Roadie Date of Birth: July 14th Age: 19 Gender: Male Status: Single Orientation: Heterosexual Religion: Believes there's something out there, but doesn't now what. Race: Human Heritage: --- Occupation: Paperboy Location: Amies
Height: 6 foot even Weight: 110 lbs. Hair Color: Fire engine red. (It's dyed) Hair Length: Varying. Hair Style: Buzzed on the left half of his head, while the right falls into his face at varying lengths. The longest it reaches is past his nostrils. Eye Color: Ocean Blue Skin Tone: Spends-all-his-time-inside pale Physical Build: Skinny. Super scary skinny. Distinguishing Marks: Thin, nearly white lips. Clothing: A long sleeved white thermal, a pair of dark blue jeans, black sneakers. Accessories: Three silver rings in the top of each ear, two silver thumb rings.
Personality: Quiet, demure, reserved, introverted, and shy can all be used to describe Riley's personality. He hardly ever talks, and when he does it comes out in a soft whisper, barely audible.
He keeps to himself, shutting himself up in his room if not out delivering newspapers in the dark hours of the morning when no one is awake. While in his room he entertains himself by imagining scenarios with surreal creatures and even more surreal terrains. Often he finds himself writing down his scenarios, and if they're especially interesting, he will sketch out a scene from the scenario and then color it in, tacking it to a wall reserved just for his imaginary situations.
He has a few friends, a boisterous and enthusiastic group of young men, sons of his mother's friends. They all try to crack his shell whenever they see him, and they mostly succeed. After coaxing him out of his room, they abduct him for the day and take him to the casino to gamble away the money of their fathers. Riley finds these outings exhilarating and horrid at the same time, as he is surrounded with things that look surreal, but also he is surrounded by his worst fear; unfamiliar people.
As he has more of these outings, his fears of unfamiliar people dwindle little by little, devolving into a fear of seedy looking people. He still likes his solitude, but doesn't fear a normal looking stranger any longer.
Habits: Clacking his two thumb rings together, sweeping his hair out of his sight, folding his arms over his body as if he were cold. Hobbies: Imagining, writing down, and drawing surreal situations. Philosophies: "People can hurt you, but your imagination can't."
History: Riley Rodes grew up like a normal boy for his first eight years of his life. He was becoming a social butterfly, he had tons of "friends" (any child is a friend to another child if they play even once), a family that loved and cared for him while lightly spoiling him, teachers and mentors who taught him life's important lessons (always wash your hands, treat elders with respect, etc.), and all the color crayons a child could ever want. He was happy, content with his life, and loved everyone, even those weird looking guys that walked around with torn up clothes.
In fact, a lot of those people were great friends to have! They told him stories of giant dragons and talking bears, pillars of fire and streams of mist. But mother had always dragged him away when they began to talk about weirder things. They would tell him that those things would turn on the human race, because humans had been evil. But they were just joking! Riley knew they had to be. Like Grandpappy would joke about him and Grandmom splitting up or how he was once a prince of a land that was made of chocolate!
And then it happened. On his ninth birthday, Riley had been starring out the window waiting for his father to come home. Where was he! Daddy wasn't supposed to miss his birthdays. Maybe he had to hire people to carry his present? Yeah, that had to be it! Daddy must have gotten him something really big, since nine is such a big number. So Riley waited, sitting on the window seat and waiting for his father to come home with his ginormous present.
And he waited, and waited and waited. He waited until it was bedtime, and he still waited through the night. Maybe Daddy had to go to another part of the world to get his present? Maybe he got him an elephant! That would be so cool!
And in the morning he waited for Daddy. Then some men came to the door, they were wearing those funny uniforms that the law guys wore, and they were dragging one of Riley's friends that wore the torn up clothes. Were they here to wish him a happy late birthday? And if they were, why was Mommy crying? Why did she scream like that and lunge for his friend? What was going on!? ---
"Riley...baby...Daddy...Daddy's not coming...Daddy's not coming home."
"Why? Did he get employed by the government to do super secret spy stuff? Is he protecting us from bad guys? Is he working with a talking bear and a giant dragon?!" The prospect of his father doing awesome things like that excited Riley. How cool would it be to tell his friends that his Daddy knew a talking bear and a giant dragon?
"No baby...that man that the officers had cuffed...he k-k-kill-killed Daddy." His mother broke down in sobs, putting her arms tenderly around Riley. Riley's big blue eyes stayed excited and giddy for a few moments, before realizing what his had just told him.
"Nu-uh...Momma, don't lie..." Tears were already streaming from his eyes. Why would Mommy lie to him?
"Honey...I'm not." She spoke softly, realizing that her son's heart was shattering as they spoke. She felt his head slump onto her shoulder, and a flood of tears soaked through her dress onto her shoulder. Wails echoed through the foyer of the house, resounding off the chandelier and reverberating through the air. Mother and son cried together, mourning the loss of the man they loved. ---
After the funeral, Riley never was the same. He shut himself up in his room, lived inside his own head, cried silently into his pillows whenever the thought of his father entered his mind. He only talked to his mother, no one else could get a verbal response from him. He was pulled from public school and given a personal tutor.
The most concerning thing was his lack of appetite. The equivalent to what he ate per day was one square meal. He grew thinner as he grew up, becoming a sickly wraith like figure. He styled his hair strangely, he removed himself from society, he took his paper route on doctor's orders, because his leg muscles soon started to atrophy after he turned fifteen. Riley became a wreck after his father died.

Schwarz Gender: Male Dust: Charcoal
Skin Tone: Gray Eye Color: Gray Hair Color: Charcoal Black Hair Length: Buzzed sides. Bangs reach past the eyes if not styled. Ends just below the jaw line in the back. Hair Style: Buzzed short on both sides of his head, yet ample hair on the top. The top has been teased, mussed, and lightly spiked to create a fauxhawk to be swept slightly to the left. The back of his hair is done in to look rushed and sloppy, with few strands gelled and sticking out haphazardly. (Ref)
Build: Fair, not well muscled but not "oh he must have starved himself" thin. Healthy looking. Clothing: Punk clothes. And not the "punk" that Hot Topic sells. I'm talking '80's punk here. Zippers, chains, leather, and black galore. My only request is that his pants are slightly tight. Accessories: Badges and pins on his jackets, a black belt with an overly large square silver buckle, dog tags, one of those old school biker hats (optional.)
Personality: Schwarz is a fun loving, adrenaline seeking, high on life, gambling addict of a wild card that thinks he's bulletproof. He's very impulsive and rash, and often ends up falling on his face and embarrassing himself, leading to a small bout of depression where he stays inside one of Riley's many drawings. These periods can last from two days to a week, depending on how badly he messed up. After the period of depression is over, Schwarz is right back up on his feet and doing whatever he feels like doing again.
Schwarz's habit of being the loon he is comes from a self inflicted inferiority complex. Only able to see in shades of gray, he feels like he's worth less than Dusts that can see in color. So to try and compensate for that, he does the dangerous and often idiotic things he does. Habits: Tracing patterns in the air with his fingers, biting his lower lip when faced with logic. Hobbies: Making little charcoal animals, doing whatever looks fun to him. Philosophies: "Screw 'what if', just freaking do it man!"
Family: Riley (Well, he's kind of like family.)
Likes: Adrenaline, strawberry cheesecake, things that look dangerous, strip poker. Dislikes: Boredom, loneliness, chocolate, math, looking a fool. Skills: Using his fingers to make charcoal drawings that come to life, entering pieces of art, blinding a person with charcoal temporarily

YO MAYNE <3
lawlz I love the idea of charcoal. I think I like it more than gunpowder. Seems more natural.
It was easy to imagine the way your guardian looks and his attitude based on the history and I liked that. I felt that your dust lacked personality. I think you should add some flaws to it. Seemed to be all over the place. XD But I need to work on mine too. I've been focusing on my guardian a bit more than my dust. @A@;;; baddd
But overall, I think that if you flesh it out a bit more, write some practice posts with them, that you might get the hang of your dusts attitude a bit more.
Good! 8D
