So we haven't made a lot progress into Sci-Fi territory with our topics so I'm going to go with an old geek standby.

So discuss:

Which incarnation of star trek do you enjoy the most and why?
Who was your favorite character?
Do you think that new incarnations should continue to be made?
Anything else?

I'll have to be like everyone else and say the next generation. It had enough drama, comedy and great sci-fi writing to keep me engrossed. The characters and the great actors who played them made me love it.

I really enjoyed Deep Space Nine as well. It's a close second to TNG. It had great writing and good actors, just not quite as many compelling personalities as the next generation had though.

The original series had some solid story writing, but it was a little too campy to take completely seriously. Which isn't of course to say I don't still like it. I do and I've got an awful crush on Leonard Nimoy as Spock.

I could stand Voyager mostly due to the actress who played Cpt. Janeway. She annoyed the crap out of me which really turned me off of the series.

I've seen one episode of enterprise and just wasn't interested. I like Scott bakula (or at least I did in quantum leap) but, he just doesn't work as a captain for me.

I was always a loved TNG the best. The characters and he story drew me in and it has Patrick Stewart. How can it be wrong?

I don't think I really had a favorite character actually. But if I had to say someone, it would most likely be Data.

As for making more, the last two have been real flops in my book, so I believe it is time to stop before they continue to ruin such a great thing.

How did I forget to mention Patrick Stewart? He did really make a lot of the show. To be fair though almost all the actors on TNG were pretty great.

Where else do you get such a cast of memorable characters/actors?

The actors in deep space nine were actually really great too, I can't say anything bad about any of them. They just didn't have quite the same great chemistry the TNG cast had.

I'm breaking away from the crowd and going with the original. I like it for its campiness. It took me a while for The Next Generation to grow on me. I didn't like the first season but then it grew into itself and became a good series. The original broke grounds for many future series by having things like discrimation discussed using the method of the right side of his face is white and not black to having the very first inter-racial kiss on television, Uhura & Kirk. wink

You can't beat the original in my mind. TNG does a fine job of trying though. 4laugh

You make a lot of good points. The original really did change the face of TV in a lot of ways.

I remember watching the original in reruns with my grandma when I was younger. I think that may be part of the reason I have trouble taking it seriously (though the Campiness can't be denied no matter what the circumstances), it was kind of like a kids show for me.
