I hardly see how a single Armored Core game would have any impact on the genre. Most of the AC games feature similar gameplay mechanics.

AC4 is still managing to be the first next-gen mecha game. From Software made some gameplay changes when the series jumped to PS2 and hopefully there will be some changes to the formula on 360.
I'll just hope that the godamn radiators are removed. I never have warmed up to the things. stare

I'm not planning on getting PS2 of x-box 360 but a Mech Assault title for the DS will be out this summer. That might be a good title.

The next generation has arrived ladies, in a splendidly visceral visual glory that only the PS3/X-360 can deliver. I mean seriously when I saw the open video for Armored Core 4 my Frontal Lobe melted that’s how hot it is….. But let’s start with. Lost Planet released on Jan 12th with a $60 price tag $70 for the collectors editions that comes with a 24npage art manual and a token to download a multiplayer map form the Live marketplace. Witch might be worth it considering the game supports 31 player online with both co-op and competitive modes.
Armored Core4 set for release on March 30th most likely also in the $60 price range. Armored Core4 will have an all new damage system as well as and this is big folks sporting 8 player online battles. That’s right AC online how can it get any better, I can not wait to take my AC Liberty online and school the online world in the fine art of mecha combat.

I played Armored Core 4…..I played Armored Core 4 and it is F****ING mint. I was wrong on the release date but whatever. Anyway on with the AC love, the controls are tight although the new scheme took some getting to know, The graphics are very clean and sleek some of the landscapes are a little bland but will over look that. The sound is booming, the effects are electric especial the overboost effects. Armored core 4 is big, fast, loud and sometimes frantic everything a mech game should be.
I’ll give an example in the last mission I played I was in the desert in the middle of a massive sand storm, there’s red sand flying I can’t see a dammed thing. I look to the top of my screen to the radar it’s cover in green dots, missiles coming right at me. I scramble there’s explosions all around I switch to my rockets and start firing into the sand at anything that looks like an enemy. I’m weave back and forth up and down trying to survive the attacks trying to find my main objective targets, I managed to scrap 1 or 2 of them at least before I was destroyed, but man I haven’t had a game induce tunnel vision like that for a while, since Z.O.E 2nd Runner or the last stage in Ace Combat 5.

Kickass, it is indeed. I have the 360 version. Anyone who has the game that wants to take me on, my gamertag is Stalwart Jester.
Either way, AC4 is a godsend.

I should be playing this in the near future. Admittedly I have been somewhat busy with Halo 3 lately (never played the series before, but I gave into peer pressure finally).
Gamefly is selling used copies of the game for under $20 right now.
