Geeeh, the battle system hardly ever attributes to my like or dislike of the game.
I'm perfectly fine with the turn based. And the weird thing they had going in XII. It's like they wanted to make it...wats it called. Real time? But it was still turn based.
but my answer to your question: I don't think it would be better, but it wouldn't be worse either. there's a helpful comment to this debate.

I love turn-based systems. It means the battles are about strategy, not button-mashing. It's not for everyone, but it's just my personal taste... I like to be able to think out different methods of beating a boss, not just trying over and over, hoping I do a little better this time...

I have to agree I like turn based and that, my brother is the one who enjoys other systems....Not sure what there called but like ones in war video games...
