I need help on this, "A bicycle is on sale for 152 dollars. The original price is 164 dollars. What percentage was it on sale for?"
I don't get the question.
I'm thinking I should do it like this:
152 x __ =___ 160 100
Then cross multiply...
152 x 100=160X
152000=160X
Divide both by 160?
152000=160X ____ ____ 160 160
950 = X
The bicycle is for 950% off?!? That is messed up... I think the teacher made a typ-o? Help!
(My work looks sloppy on the computer.. Gaia won't make the spaces show up right, sorry.)

Hmmmm, It would be more like 152/160 divided by 100/x I think...it's been a while since I did this, so I really can't help you for SURE, but all I can say is remember that with percentages, you have to remember to move the decimal when you're done.

So perhaps the answer is 96 = x?

Is that what you get when you do my method? Hmm...that doesn't add up. Cuz with numbers like that, it couldn't possibly be a 94% discount, nor a 4% discount. Sorry, I haven't done this in years and I suck at math either way. DX

I got 93%
I did 150 multiplied by 100 and then divided by 160
