Morta almost smiled. It was getting dark, very dark. Just how she liked it, especially when gatekeeping. That was what made tonight the perfect night to be alone. It would be nice to share the moment with her father.. but the mare had no idea where he was. Probably in his box.
But then her eyes narrowed. "Who is coming to my pasture at this time of night?" she muttered, sighing. All she knew was, that this pony was certainly bright. It was like a lighthouse in her perfect world of dark. And Morta wasn't too happy.

Night time, Hemera hated it. She missed the sun, the warm feeling of it beating down on her pelt, how beautiful its rays of light made everything look, night time was the exact opposite.
Everything was so dark and ugly, creepy animals and insects came out to lurk and hunt, the very thought of it made her shudder as she trotted along to her pasture.
She hadn't noticed just how far she traveled away from it earlier when she went for a walk. Her wings fluttered and little specs of gold glittered in the air, floating to the ground to be lost in the maze of dark green grass.
She squinted her eyes, faintly seeing the figure of what looked to be another pony? Who would be out at this time of night? Muttering under her breath, she continued to walk forward with her head held high. "Whoever it is, they had better not be annoying."

Morta glared at the incoming pony. It wasn't long before she was within spitting distance. "What do you want?" the mare asked, huffing. Now the beautiful darkness would be full of gold glitter. Just perfect. Morta rolled her eyes.

Hemera walked right on past the pony without even the slightest hint of acknowledgment to her presence but then she stopped a few feet away, calling back over her shoulder.
"Oh.. Were you speaking to me?"
She smirked slightly, her tail swishing back and forth as she turned back around slowly, squinting again. "I can hardly see you in this gloomy lighting. I mean, the moon is white.. you think it could offer up a little bit more brightness."
She rolled her eyes, cocking her head to the side. "Anyway, it's late and I have no business with you, so I'll just be on my way."

"I don't think so." Morta disagreed, glaring. The pony pushed open the gate, trotted through, and closed it behind her. If she really had to, the mare would get violent with the other.. It was just the way she was. Especially with Hemera's type. "Now, if you want to mess with me, get over here."

Her eyes went wide for just a moment and then they narrowed slowly, one of her brows raising ever so slightly.
"I'm pretty sure I just said I had no business with you, I don't even know who you are, you aren't from any pasture that I'm familiar with and I don't really care."
Her wings fluttered again and her ears were flattened back against her head, she was obviously feeling very threatened, there was no telling what this pony might do, so she had to be ready for anything.
"You can go right back through that gate and keep ding.. whatever it was you were doing, for all I care."

"How about I rip off those pretty little wings of yours?" Morta threatened, eyes narrowing. "You really don't know who you're dealing with.." The mare stepped forward, nearing Hemera. "Now, princess, what's your name?"

"You just said you want to rip my wings off and then you ask me my name? You've got some nerve!"
Hemera stomped her front hooves against the ground as a warning, taking a deep breath in through her nose, her eyes narrowing even further.
"You don't want to get on my bad side. Though I may look cute and innocent, I most certainly am not and I am definitely not afraid of you."

"You have the nerve to invade my pasture, you prissy butterfly!" Morta spat. Okay, her insults weren't the greatest, but she could still kick a**.
"There are seven other mares in that house that would just love to help me beat you down." the mare threatened, eyes narrowed into slits. It was true that now she was just talking smack. In her opinion, Bouquet was too prissy to fight, Duskrose was too shy, Yuuna was too wimpy, Cosette was too creepy, Satin was too haughty, Maldad acted too much like a Native American wise woman, and Vanidad didn't even talk. That ruled out all of her potential allies, but it wasn't like Morta needed them.. Did she?
"Now, if you do not tell me your name and offer an apology for invading my lands, I will have to resort to violence."

"Seven other mares you say?" Hemera almost laughed but she fought against it, kicking at the ground absently with her front hooves.
"If we are going to be bringing our friends into this little squabble, then I have sixteen mares in my pasture that I'm sure would not mind helping me out of this situation."
She nodded matter of factly and kept her head held high, never looking away from Morta.
"Also, if you share the pasture with seven others.. Then it isn't yours and you will get no apology from me, because I've done nothing wrong. I will however tell you my name and it is Hemera."

Morta froze for a second. Just how stupid was she? The mare might have been born with a backbone of steel, but sometimes, she was just plain dumb. "Hemera, you say.." Morta spoke in a lighter tone, ignoring everything else the other had said. "I think I've heard of you before."
Morta thought about it for a couple of seconds until she figured it out. "Oh, yeah." the mare said. "Bouquet just adores you." She pronounced 'adores' like it was some sort of dreadful disease. Adoration really wasn't her cup of tea, especially when it came from happy-go-lucky Bouquet.

Bouquet... The name sounded so familiar but she couldn't think of the pony that was attached to it. She shifted her weight to one side while in thought, her wings fluttering slightly, sending little specs of gold dust into the night air.
"I'm sure I know who she is, but.. I can't place her right now." Hemera smiled wide and shrugged her shoulders, if it was important, it would come to her. She took a deep breath in through her nose, shifting her weight to the other side, swishing her tail back and forth absently.
"Whoever she is, I'm sure she is a doll.. Smart, too!"
