Allia had not intended her visit to the Oasis to involve swimming; as a matter of fact, she wasn't very good at swimming at all, and could do little more than an awkward paddle. She would rather keep to sticking her feet in, if anything at all. For the most part, she stayed back from the water and watched people and dragons, when they were there to see. For the most part, she went unnoticed or ignored, but today was not one of those days.
The young Candidate had been dumped, quite unceremoniously, into the water by a couple of boys in orange bandanas. Now she was thoroughly soaked - though it was not entirely a bad thing, considering the heat - and in clothes she'd just cleaned. Once the boys had gone, she started to slosh her way out, wringing the water out of her gray bandana.

From a distance, Lu'reni saw the boys dump someone into the water. It rankled her deeply. Just last Sevenday she had been attacked in the hallway by a pair of Rising Sun lackeys. They'd ripped an orange piece of cloth from her hair and shoved her hard onto the floor. The cut on her chin was healing over nicely, but it still hurt her feelings to think about it. To see something similar happen to someone else... it made Lu'reni seldom-seen temper flare up in a flurry of sparks.
Lazzy, swoop close to that pair running off. Let's scare them. Before Lu had finished her words, Lazulith angled low toward them, darting like a bullet at the pair. The green dragon might be tentative when forced to make decisions, but she could be just as impulsive as the haughtiest bronze -- and her rider have even commanded it!
I do not like what they did, Mine-lu, Lazulith said. It was clear that the dragon had also not forgotten what her rider had been subjected to at the hands of The Rising Sun, which was quite surprising indeed. Laz, like most dragons, had a pretty awful memory.
Feet from the pair, Lazulith let out a modest screech, pulling up at the very last second. The two boys squealed and fell to the sand, covering their faces. Lu'reni held up a fist and shouted, "Learn to be nicer!" It wasn't much of a battle cry, but Lu felt satisfied.
Having accomplished the goal, Lu directed Lazulith to land near the poor girl who had been attacked. Lazulith slowed her approached, gently landing several feet away. Lu slid off and jogged lightly toward the soaked girl. "I saw them dunk you," she said, by way of explanation. "It's not okay for them to think they can do that." Crossing the space to the edge of the water, she looked the girl up and down, trying to assess the damage. "Are you okay? Would you like a hug?" Hugs were nice for healing hurt feelings!

Allia was probably every bit as surprised as the boys when a green dragon and her rider swooped down out of the sky with a screech and a shout. Even more surprising than being 'avenged,' the greenrider turned out to be a girl! With both those things to process, it took her a few moments to answer.
As episodes of bullying went, going for an unexpected swim wasn't all that bad. It didn't hurt any, at least, except for her pride. It made her more indignant than anything, annoyed and a little frustrated. It drove home more than ever that she was going to have to make up her mind and choose a faction, sooner rather than later - not that Rising Sun was an option for someone like her, and even if it were, she would avoid it on principle.
"I-I'm alright," she said finally, with a touch of a smile. "They didn't hurt me, just tossed me in." It wasn't hard to do, with someone as small and light as her. "Thanks for...for doing that."
In regards to the hug, Allia answered, "I'd get you all wet."

Lu'reni held up a hand like some kind of pint-sized protector. "Nonsense. It starts with dumping you in the water. And then it ends up with them shoving you in a hallway and ripping orange cloth out of your hair. And then who knows what?" She glanced over her shoulder at the disappearing shapes of the two boys and shrugged. "I just don't like bullies -- but you're very welcome."
Behind her, Lazulith stretched her wings wide and glanced toward the water. Mine-lu, may I go swimming? The water looks especially sparkly today. Laz would go swimming in a mud puddle if she could, but Lu smiled, gesturing with a flick of her hand toward the water. In a flash, Lazulith was gone, completely submerged in the water. She resurfaced several moments later and began to roll in tight circles through the water, playfully splashing other dragons.
Lu kept her eyes on her dragon for a moment before refocusing on the girl in front of her. No hug? Oh well. For a moment, Lu contemplated dunking herself in the water so that it would be allowed. A hug is always nice... Instead, she settled for a handshake, jutting her hand out at the younger girl. "Hello, I am Lu'reni -- and that flapping, adorable thing in the water is Lazulith. She says hello." Lu often spoke for Lazulith, but the dragon popped one wing out of the water and gave it a bit of a way before resuming her splashing.
