"Mom, dad, you know how all the girls are showing thongs and belly button rings and tongue piercings and cleavage? And smoking and getting pregnant and rolling their sweatpants that say Juicy on the butt down so you can see their undies? Well, instead, I want to wear modest dresses, cover my body and act like a respectable young lady. I think grandma would approve. Any objections?"
Parents should be proud of your classy choice in individualism. Start out slow, incorporate pieces so they won't think it's a costumed fad. Then show them the princess you can be.
Hope that helps.

kochi~mochi Most parents accept it best (from what i've seen) if you start with casual lolita, and work your way up. Start wearing a loli blouse over jeans, for example. Find things that work with loli in stores around you - so your not bringing home a lolita blouse, its a cute shirt you bought at forever 21. Work your way up to wearing full lolita for special days with friends, then special days with family, and then they should be used to it. Exactly

I would think parents would like their daughters to dress like that. You're completely covered, you don't look sexy (or not supposed to) so they won't have to have a shot gun to keep guys away, and you look and act like a young lady. My parents think it's a little weird cuz everyone else isn't doing it, but they accept it.

So have your parents actually told you not to wear it? Or are you afraid to bring it up to them? I had the same problem a few years ago when I started liking J-rock at the time but they so did not care when I finally told them. If they do have a problem with it then just show them some pics on the internet and logically talk and reason out why you cannot, and tell them that this fashion/lifestyle is important to you. Hope that was good advice. 3nodding

Wow. So...
I'm 20-something and I recently sent my parents a few pics of some new lolita stuff. Mom thought it was cutie. Dad, however...
"There are things you do that as a man I approve. As your father... it ruffles my feathers. [insert disappointed sound]"
Apparently, the outfits, while more modest, are more fetish-ish to the older and more worldly. He put it to me this way. A school girl outfit may cover more than a swimsuit, but men like it much much more because of the connotation.
So, uh. Man. Talk about my first experience with parental disapproval of lolita...
Good luck!

If i could i'd move out. but i have no money.plus staying home is cheaper. I think i'll move out next year. well i love lolita but my parents are the same. They don't like different. So i showed them a dress with very little frills and keep going from there. I'm trying slowly to get them used to the idea. if not i don't care that much, my grandmother is making it haha.

Any behavior deemed as unusual is obviously a sexual thing. There seems to be no other motivation for anything. It's really quite sad.
