So I just downloaded UFO, and I was about to play it, but whenever I try to run the game it says:
This application has failed to start because d3dx9_40.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
Can someone help? x.x;;

Simple. Your computer is missing the d3dx9_40.dll file. You can download it here. If you're unsure where to put the file, read here for more information.

its not working for me either..... its the same thing too, but I'm clueless on it... the dxd9_40 file is stored in my downloads, but i don't know what to do with it from there.... sweatdrop
umm.. subterranean animism needed the d3dx9_37 file, and someone i know made that run for me but i do not know what to do now... and I'm trying to figure it out on my own but that got me no where.... any ideas?? heehee... sweatdrop sweatdrop

The .dll files go in C:/Windows/System32.

I get that pop up message too about the .dll files it requires. But when I sucsessfully get a .dll file for 11, 12, 12.3, and the 13 demo, I try to run the game and it keeps going back to my screen I was last on and the microsoft explored error pop up window shows up. (you know with the Send report, dont send, and debug) I tried that and nothing works. Tell me how many people here has that same problem as I have?

Reinstalling DirectX should fix those errors. It seems you're missing some Direct3D dlls that the Touhou games need to run. Just google DirectX and you should have a

Just google DirectX and you should have a Im downloading a DirectX 10 for XP for my laptop.....I hope that should work. As for Stigmanizer's advise..... I moved my downloaded .dll files to my windows system 32 folder. I hope that will get it running.
