When you get on a horse and you feel like you are doing every thing absolutely wrong
ie/ Asking for bend, posting, transitions, 2-point....?
We finally started jumping courses again and I felt like I absolutely COULDNT ride. Cim was being a cow because she was in season, but when we were trying to canter the course I could BARELY get her to canter! My confidence went totally down hill.... Then the other people in the lesson were just flying through the course... Cimm hasnt jumped a course in over three years... I understand if shes confused... If you want the story of her old horrible home ask and I will tell =]

i know how you feel. last sunday was my last lesson at my ranch, before i moved, and i rode a small pony named chips. (it was all they had to offer....) and i haven't jumped in a little over a year probably. So i did a single a couple of times, then a line...then a line and a single...and then a whole course! haha it felt good to jump again, but man was i sooo bad. i had the cantering problem, plus just general issues. it was soo bad....made me want to crrryyy!!! but its ok, cause i totally rocked on flat...so that made up for it i guess.

Yeah, I know the feeling. The important thing is to keep at it, and to keep getting better! Don't let anything discourage you. Try to think from your horse's point of view. That might help you decide if they're confused, or if they're just stubborn. Maybe you could ask a trusted, more experienced rider like a teacher or friend in your area to take a look at your riding and tell you what's going wrong?

I'm going to feel this way sometime soon (I hope). I've been unable to ride with a back fracture. I'm afraid all the muscle I've built over the years riding will lose it's strength.
