Uh, um, well . . . I don't have much to contribute here, but I just thought I'd vocalize my support of this discussion (seeing as I've been lurking in here forever).
Hope that's okay. >__>;

Yes. I've been listening to Symphony X's Paradise Lost Album... what? It's awesome.
Hah! I guessed that before even reading that sentence.

Err...

Back to the subject at hand! If you follow the methos of the 3 primary religions from an objective viewpoint, you can easily see how Lucifer would have been considered evil. It's a classic turn-of-play ingrained into US this very day. Speaking objectively; Lucifer did or said something against what God wanted and was ejected from paradise and from then on was perceived as evil.

What is a common practice amongst some religious (Primary religions that is.) followers today? "If you don't believe what we believe you're a sinner and are going to hell.. unless you join us." Scary correlation huh? I just think it's a further argument we truly are made in God's image. Whereas God is an entity, or a living consciousness we are a physical manifestation of that same consciousness. We are both good and evil, we too are hypocritical and earnest all in one.

That's also why I think religion is a crock. Because religious types refuse to admit that God could do any wrong, that all God does is for a reason, and for the good of all of us. Personally, my philosophy is that none is more human than God. God has the ability to show compassion as well as anger, just like us. Now really, you can interpret that in the sense that the existence of God all together is just us acknowledging our own consciousness and personifying it, thereby disproving God. To which I say; There's way too much unexplainable s**t in the universe for there NOT to be some sort of metaphysical entity or living consciousness behind it. As for angels and demons.. ehhhh I think that's just fantasy.

On the opposite hand of people who don't believe in God.. a good question I like to ask is; So, if the universe was created by the big bang, what caused the big bang.. and if it was from something sub-atomic or from anti-matter.. where did that come from? To which they usually respond by staring at me dumbfounded because I'm a logical person who believes in God.. and they can't answer the question.

Haha I just realized something.. I can ******** atheists AND religious people.. xD I'm dangerous.

xd Actually they only look at you dumbfounded because they're idiots.

The Big Bang theory has the following:

1) The hypothesis is that time and space began moving as part of the expansion caused by the Big Bang. If you view time as a dimension ( as per General Relativity ) then it's easy to realise that time can expand, and that would appear to us as though it is passing, like space appears to be moving when it expands.

Ergo, space and matter was always there, but time had no meaning before the bang. It's kinda ********, but then theoretical physics always is.

Then there's always the disclaimer. Nothing before Planck Time can be known, only guessed. With any luck, that'll change once the LHC charges up.

I don't believe in all this religious mythical stuff, but i'd like to think that Satan was actually standing up to God's tyrranical rule.
*Yes...Unfortunatly, we were forced to read the bible....We also had free bibles every year.....But most of us threw it in the bins or burnt it up.... razz *
Well, so much for our love of religion. XD

I agree with the idea that Lucifer was so full of pride that he wanted to become God, and therefore "waged a war" (whatever that means to angels) against God, and upon failing was cast out of Heaven. I don't know why God would ask angels to bow to man, when none are supposed to bow to any but God, and I don't know what hypocrisy God would have committed for Lucifer to come to Earth to comfort us from.

See, that's what confused Lucifer in that account too.

What I heard was he didn't want to bow down to God. As a punishment he was thrown from Heaven. Depicted in a late painting of a being being thrust from the clouds.
