Nyrk looked up at the witch, absent-mindedly shaking his head. His indecisive refusal did not share the severity of the subject it responded to, but he lacked the cognition to put his reasoning into words. He still silently insisted his bandages remain on.

Alice slicked her pupils down on the mummy man. Her shoulders tucked her head perfectly, only to let out a anger growl. Licking her cracked lips, Alice stood herself upward to examine in high quality. "I've got a simple question for you. Do you want the pain to stop?"

The man finally managed to speak. "I cannot feel the injuries I know are there." It was all he managed to say, and his jaw continued to undulate beneath his bandages, saying more thing he did not have the voice to say. He was slowly regaining cognition, but still had a while left to go.

"Hm." Alice questioned from Nyrk's speaking. Few minutes of silence flew. It didn't make any sense for the witch one bit. But she did remember his back being a trouble for him. She circled around him several times, tripping almost.

As Alice circled him, the man sat patiently, seeming to forget what he was doing there, but still flinching under an occasional pang of hurt. He was already bandaged, though. He wondered what more there needed to be done for him.

After a delicious meal Vii decided she needed to go get a job to subsidize her plan and the only place she knew that she would want to work would be a clinic. Stumbling through the door the intoxicating scent of blood animated her limbs into a way that made the human Vii a distant memory. Standing in the doorway observing the patients and their Doctor Alice, Vii smirked, revealing the tip of her pointed fang on one side.
"Might I be able to trouble you for a job? Perhaps a Phlebotomistt?" It was almost soothing to hear the sweet tone of her velvet voice, carefully crafted through the perfection of her exquisite disease.
Shooting a glance in the direction of the bandaged Excorcist, Vii straightened noticeably, clasping her hands in front of her.

(A few weeks later)

There was a knock on the medical ward's door. The knocker left immediately, but left behind the body of Nyrk Saron. His pants and feet were soaked in blood, but it was not his. The exorcist did, however, bleed profusely from several cuts to the face, and there were signs of suffocation on his neck. He was still.

The head of the medical ward was snoozing on the nearby bench, near the door. When she heard a broad thud, her dreaming stopped. "Huh? What happened?" Alice questioned, looking around and drooling.

There was a hastily-written note on the near-dead exorcist. It read,

"found this in the arena. please fix it all better."

"No name. How rude of him." Alice complained. But she didn't mind it so much and proceeded to carry Nyrk Saron to the closest patient room to see what was wrong with him this time. "Boy, he's as heavy as a rock!"

The blood that drenched him from knees to feet had nothing to do with his affliction. He simply wasn't breathing, but through sheer force of conviction, his heart continued to beat. What had slain the exorcist appeared to have done so by throttling him. There were marks on his neck, similar to links on a chain.

People had suffered more gruesome injuries in the battledome before. Nyrk could consider himself lucky.
