((Time Frame: Present. Hello! This thread is based around my character Revaire's journey to find a cure to his mysterious disease, which will end his life in about 5 years. It is a story about hope, mystery, sadness, and determination. Anyone is welcome to join!))

Running, that was what he was doing. Ducking below the low branches and hopping over crooked rocks, Revaire made his way as quickly as he could down the narrow jagged path of the mountain. He had to get off the mountain as quick as he could before they could catch him. It was in the middle of the night. The glow of fireflies and the chirping of crickets filled the nighttime air, and the peaceful scenery that surrounded him was quickly displaced by the yelling and running of the castle guards who were chasing him. As Revaire jumped over a fallen log, he tripped on rock and was sent tumbling down into a small ditch. Guards were coming nearer with every passing second, and with his final ounce of strength Revaire got to his feet and continued running. That was until he reached the cliff. As he looked down, he couldn't see the bottom, nor anything else for that matter. The guards were still running, closing in on him with no other place to escape. With a deep breath, Revaire took the jump into the darkness below, yelling all the way.

DAY 1 - THE BEGINNING

Revaire woke up with a short scream, covered from head to toe in sweat. It was another nightmare. Revaire groaned, it was the 4th one this week. The same terrifying event as before, repeated in his dreams. Revaire's room was a clean one, with a dark oak clothes dresser and nightstand near his bed, and a black desk near in front of his window. A little bit of sun peeped through the edges of the window curtains, which Revaire wouldn't really open in the morning, since he would get a bad sunburn if he didn't put on a special vampire suntan lotion. Waking up in the morning was always a hassle to him ever since he started, but by now he was pretty much accustomed to it.

Grabbing the crutches near his bed, he walked with a limp to his small and also organized kitchen, filled with electronic appliances and a small oven and microwave. Opening the double doors of his kitchen cabinet was like opening a pharmacy, with the cabinets lined completely with medications. Most of them were for suppressing his disease, but some were for the few occasions where Silven would cause him to lose his mind. Taking out a vile of clear liquid and a clean syringe, he loaded the syringe and, biting the cap off, injected the contents into his arm. A small fizzing sensation appeared but soon faded, and Revaire's skin color turned from a pale while to a semi-pinkish glow. The dark rings under his eyes faded, and his posture turned upright and stiff, rather then limp and slouched.

He went back to the room, placed his crutches near his bedside, and went back to the kitchen, opening his medium-sized grey refrigerator. There were 3 cases of concentrated blood pills, a bottle of Dr. Pepper, orange juice, milk, some leftover pizza, and a carton of eggs. Revaire let out a sigh "Looks like I need to do some grocery shopping" he said. Grabbing the eggs, he cracked several of them onto a hot pan and made some scrambled eggs. Eating the eggs, some blood pills, and the carton of orange juice, he grabbed his coat from the closet, wrapped on his scarf, and folded up his sword into his sleeve, just in case something bad happens. Jumping down the wooden, semi-broken steps and through the large metal door guarding his house, Revaire walked outside. The cool air hit is face with a refreshing breeze as he walked leisurely down the winding cobblestone streets of Durem, deciding on what to do. "Hmm, I guess I should go to the Shinigami Library first." he thought to himself.

As he neared the corner of an empty street, a vampire, whose grey long hair and a black gothic coat reeked of royalty, jumped down from the rooftops above. He quickly placed the end of his silver sword at Revaire's neck. "Come with me now without fighting, Prince Revaire. Your father needs you" he said in a firm tone. Revaire yawned. "So, you're gonna threaten me in a populated town? My father has gotten even more foolish over the years," he said.

Unfolding his sword as fast as lightning, Revaire sliced through the base of the vampire's sword, which landed with a clang as it fell to the floor. "Tell me now, why did my father send you to get me? He never wanted anything more with me." Revaire said questioningly. "It is not what he wants of you, its what he wants in you," the vampire remarked. "What do you mean? Are you talking about Silven? If so, you can have him. I never wanted that parasite in me." The vampire grinned. "No no, he doesn't want Silven. He wants--" A loud noise rang out as the vampire was shot in the back of the head. Revaire swiftly dodged a couple bullets and retreated in a back alley. His father was after him for sure, even though he ran away over 10 years ago. But for what? Silven would serve him no purpose, and he didn't need his son since he only cared about giving himself power. As Revaire thought about what the answer could be, he made a mad dash in the direction of the Shinigami Library, the only place he knew that his father's soldiers couldn't find him.
