I don't think that has to do anything about the education you can get from inside the thread. Are you claiming the info old news? x.x;
No I don't think it does either. Just, I dunno, they never stick around.
Isn't non-matching the red headed step child of the AT? Plus I think this style is just so hard to put a thumb on, a lot of people plan it out different. Because I think nonmatching avatars has more to do with flow then color, yes it's important but it's about big picture not matching. So to find a guide that really defines all sub-styles of nonmatching has yet to be created because everyone has their angle. That's kinda why I made this thread to see what everyone thought of this style.
Yeah.
Mm, lots of people do it differently, like there is the "Cute" style in the AT which is basicly non matching but you put a mole and a smile on. Yeah, maybe we should try and write one XD I see. =)
Well i was thinking of it, might be a lot to put on my plate but to have a really good guide on it takes more then what I've seen from other guides.

First off, love the avatar.
Secondly, yeah none of the non-matching guides really seem to be that great to me. For instance, they have examples of "bad avatars" but they don't really go into why it's a bad avatar, and same with the "good avatars"

Right? doesn't it feel like a bunch of guess work when you go into one of those things? XD;

Hm I think I like 2 + 2's guide better. But then again that was made in 06. XD

I think they were made by the same people, because they have some of the same avatars in the hall of fame. Just different people. I don't know. xD There's both helpful though I think. <3

Yeah it would be hard.

Natti, that is what got me when I first read 2 + 2's guide, was that he showed two bad examples and didn't stat why and then he only showed one good example.

I think 2 + 2 would have based his guide from hers, taking pictures and info and stuff. So that is why they would be similar.
Her guide probably became dead so he made a new one.

I think some comments have stayed on the borderline and none have gone over to the mean side... but I just thought I'd nudge in a little preemptive post. <.< >.> Just please don't go bashing any other guides in any way. I'd hate to find out that some people were bashing my guide in some other thread and not coming to me with constructive criticism. > <

After reading quite a bit on the style and playing around with it for a few months now, I have come to love this style.

It allows use of items that normally wouldn't appear much in matching avatars and makes better use of my inventory (basically I got bored of matching somewhere along the way).

What I found is that there should be at least one unifying color along the avatar that is balanced and well spread. More than one is better. The unifying color(s) don't need to match exactly in shade, especially if they are a bright color, which appears more.

Also, it looks better when the avatar has an interesting expression/face. People won't be looking so much at the outfit if the face catches their attention.

Textured items are great to make an avatar like this stand out.

You'll also notice I don't add large items that are too far away from the avatar base and stick to mostly items that aren't too fantasy-looking, personal choice.

Some of my favorites:

Any comments and suggestions are welcome.
