( This rp is for people questing to use so they may get more familiar with their characters.
World: Earth
Place: Nassau, Hotel))

Due to a sudden tropical storm there would be no ride to Baenare's island today for workshop attendees. Everyone pretty much trapped within their homes and hotels. Daniel had no intention of braving the torrential rains and rough seas in the Jazzy tune just to keep to schedule. Benjamin would wait a day for his next crop of writers if he wanted them alive.

Still he'd had notices sent to his future passengers rooms informing them of the delay, becuase some people would inevitably think they'd be sailing anyways he was sure. He'd also against his better judgment invited them to join him in the bar of the hotel all of them were coincidentally staying at. It'd give him a better chance to watch them before the trip and
hopefully give him more to tell Benjamin.

"Wow. I'm surprised - I'm nineteen and I can come into a bar," Renee said, covering her mouth out of shock that she actually said it out loud. Her attire wasn't really all that strange, if you liked Hello Kitty. The little Sanrio mascot was also the theme of her tote, which had a small, almost-used-up notepad inside. Pushing the falling-out notepad and the note within that in her bag, she looked around for someone who may actually be representing Mr. Baenare. However, while the note on her pillow had a name, she didn't think much to look at that vital piece of information.

Going up to the bar, she asked the bartender nervously "Um, is there a representative of Benjamin Baenare here? I'm sorry, I was here for a workshop and it's been postponed - someone asked the group to meet this rep guy here, but I don't know his name..."

The bartender stared blankly at the girl for a moment then something glimmered in the back of his eyes and he gestured towards a dark skinned man sitting along at a table over near the other wall. "Daniel's who you're looking for." Kenneth recalled the other man complaining from time to time about having to ferry people for his friend now and how none of them understood the concept of being prompt.

"Alright, thanks," Renee told the bartender, walking away from the bar and toward the table with the dark-skinned person.

After approaching the table, she stood for a few seconds so she could rummage through the bag for her note. Pulling the notice out of the worn pad for character ideas, Renee skimmed it quickly to make sure it was what she brought, and after reading the name at the end - Daniel - felt really idiotic, slamming her hand to her head. "Wow," Renee whispered. "I feel dumb now."

Alice stumbled, tripping over her own feet as she entered the hotel's bar. She mumbled about her own clumsiness but kept her eyes glued to the note that she had found from Daniel inviting to meet him there. Lifting her gaze away from the note - there were only so many times she could read it over and over again - she glanced around the bar, looking for the man, though she wasn't sure what he looked like. If they had met earlier, the memory was quickly shuffled off to some far off reaches of her brain and replaced with a hundred other thoughts. Having been accepted to the workshop made her nervous and jittery. She could hardly believe that she had been picked.

Still standing at the bar's entryway, Alice was glad that it didn't seem overly crowded. She had never done well in large groups of people. She supposed she should really try to get over that. But for now the thought of joining a group of ten or more strangers made her feel like slinking off to some dark corner to observe them from afar.

Daniel looked over at the young girl with a mildly amused expression on his face. " You're one of the attendee's then?" It was that or Kenneth was sending lost little waifs to him for fun again.

Kenneth was polishing the bar when he noticed the young brunette stumble into the bar. So odd to see that when it was usually going out that people were unsteady. He noted the paper in her hand and the way she scanned the room clearly looking for someone. He cleared his throat to catch her attention and gestured over towards Daniel's table. Clearly this was another one looking for the captain.

When she heard someone clear their throat, Alice looked toward the source of the sound. The man at the bar gestured toward one of the tables, and Alice followed it with her gaze. She turned back to him and nodded her thanks to the man before making her way over to the table. She paid extra attention not to make another mistake with tripping over her feet, mildly embarrassed by her clumsiness.

There was already another woman at the table when she arrived. She glanced briefly at the woman then to the man. "You're Daniel, yes?" she asked uncertainly and tried very hard not to fidget.

'Well, you don't look like the brightest pea in the pod,' Renee thought to herself, quickly spattering out "Oh. Um. Yes? Yeah, I am Renee Terrace-Fleet, I have this letter that I assume you'd have sent," while handing the note to Daniel with a nervous smile.

Hearing and seeing the shorter-haired lady, who looked to be about as short as she was, reply her greeting to Daniel confirmed that Renee, herself, seemed to be in the right place. However, she didn't notice the slightly older woman's glance. That was typical, considering she blocked out almost everything that came to her not relating to the here-and-now.

Daniel nodded to the newcomer " That would be me, please have a seat, both of you." It would be easier than craning his neck to look up at them. " The weather is supposed to be bad all night so we wont be leaving till tomorrow morning at the earliest," he informed them. " Benjamin is aware of this and neither of you will miss anything important."

As he spoke Daniel retrieved the note from Renee, not that he needed too but it would be sort of strange to leave her like that with her hand out.

"Fine... I guess," Renee replied as her note was taken out of her hands. She looked at the table, which did have at least a little bit of room around it for extra seats if needed. There were probably more than three or four seats for attendees, so Renee thought.

Looking at the hardwood chairs with cushions, she decided to place her butt on one of them, and while leaning down to sit, a bit of tenderness came to her lower back. It was from her chest again; it always hindered most activity that involved lots of movement. One of Renee's bangle-adorned hands reached toward the muscle that needed the help, and tried to rub her own back in order to relieve the soreness. "I guess I'm lucky - I doubt my writing was that great," she said with a small giggle, which did not seem laughter-induced, and a wavering glance around this unfamiliar bar with unfamiliar people.

Alice took a seat, glad when she didn't accidentally miss it and fall on the floor by mistake. She had seen some of the storm raging outside from her hotel room window, and she was thankful that they weren't making the journey to the island that night. She doubted they would make it there in one piece. Or maybe that was just pessimism sneaking up on her.

"At least, the storm should clear up by morning, right?" she asked, though she really hadn't heard any weather reports about the storm. But she didn't want to think that it might last through the week.

She glanced at the other woman. "The workshop is to help us get better, right? I know I certainly could use the improvement," she said, offering a smile.

"The storm should be over by then yes but it's hard to predict even for weathermen around here," Daniel replied. The man combed his fingers through his short, wavy, black hair as he spoke. He certainly hoped they'd be able to leave tomorrow anyways, Benjamin might be understanding but the other man did like to keep to his schedules when he could. Never mind that Daniel himself had other deliveries to make that had to be pushed back becuase of the storm and now also needing to spend practically another entire day going to and from the island.

"I can't really say why anyone was chosen or what the workshop will be like. I'm just an old friend of Benjamin's." A good old friend perhaps but still just that and while he'd read the other man's books he himself had never had the slightest inclination to try and write his own.

"Heh... this storm is nothing like the rains I got in New York state. New York state's probably in a drought compared to this monsoon." Renee started to fidget in her chair, still in pain. A small groan came to her, and while briefly thinking over the idea of getting a pillow somewhere, nixed that option. Renee was here, she wasn't queer, but either way, she had better get used to it; she would have to go on a boat headed toward an island with these people sometime soon.

Figuring talking would distract her from the backache, Renee spoke to the only other woman there, saying "Well, that's what I know. I love to write, but I need to add something. I don't really know what kind of thing I need. Maybe Mr. Baenare is going to teach his secrets on what makes his books so popular among the target audience?"

She guessed that was true. No one could predict when exactly a storm would end. They could guess, but even with all their technology and gadgets, they could still end up being wrong. She hoped the storm would be cleared up by tomorrow though. There wasn't a whole lot to do in her hotel room, other than read the books that she had brought with her.

"Ah," Alice said, turning her attention back to the conversation. "I guess you can't give us any hints about what to expect at the workshop." Her shoulder rolled in a little shrug. It wasn't too big of a deal, though she was insanely curious, and very nervous, about attending the workshop now that she had been picked.
