For this Halloween. What do you guys think? And what are you guys thinking of going around as if you plan on dressing up? And don't give me that, "Adults can't dress up" crap. I'll be dressing up even when I'm good and old.
For those who don't know what a Plague Doctor is: http://contexts.org/economicsociology/files/2008/12/plague-doctor-in-color.jpg
Text from http://maskwerks.tripod.com/id8.html:
"During the period of the Black Death and the Great Plague of London, plague doctors visited victims of the plague to verify whether they have been afflicted or not. They were mostly unqualified. Most qualified doctors had left the city to avoid being afflicted. Their outfit consisted of a hat to show that the man was a doctor, mask to protect the face, crystal "eyes" to "protect" the eyes, the beak stuffed with spices or herbs to "purify" the air that the doctor breathed, wooden stick to push away victims who would get too close to him, leather gloves to protect the hands, gown waxed from the exterior, and full length boots. It was believed at the time that the plague was spread through the air, not through the fleas living on the black rat. Therefore, they stuffed herbs and spices in their "beaks" or carried them somewhere. The waxed clothing may have helped prevent fleas latching on, and the clothing also prevented droplet infection. It has been questioned how much this costume was actually worn; the greater part of doctors fled the cities in the early stages of the plague. "
Anyway, the victim would look bruised and bandaged. I'll be following my friend around, who is going to dress as a Plague Doctor and poke me with her stick and such. I think it'll be fun.
Yeah, I know, I'll just be dressing as a bruised Plague Victim. I'm describing it as a "Plague Doctor Victim" because that's how we're going to look walking around.

Sounds like a fun costume. I think we have two other hallowen 2k9 costume threads, but anyway...I'll be a zombie. I saw some nice fabrics so I'm thinking of making a nice dress then tearing it up and of course smearing it with blood. My boyfriend is going to be a zombie too, and we're going to make a body on my lawn with edible (or at least non-toxic) body parts so we can gnaw on them. I found a really great tutorial on making realistic intestines. I'm also going to have a leaf pile so sometimes I can hide there and jump out at people.
I wear costumes on a normal day.Why not Halloween too?

I am definitely not coming to your house on Halloween. xD
I wish I could wear costumes everyday, but I don't think my parents would be too happy about it.
And ah, I wasn't aware, sorry if I'm just promoting the spammage.

It's okay, the other two threads are dead anyway as far as I can tell. My mom finds it amusing when I come downstairs wearing something strange and it's not like she can tell me to change.

The joys of being the age of adults, no? ;3 I planned on being a Renaissance vampire this Halloween. I just need fangs.
