For the first time in months, Liriel finally crept from her den at a time of day other than when she was absolutely certain that the pack would be sound asleep. For the first time, she was visible to the world as she deliberately walked, her footfalls scraping the earth from her angry clenched claws. Murderous intent glowed in her eyes as she sniffed the air in search of Caydenn's scent..wherever the scoundrel had gotten himself to.
She was a changed wolf..though she did not look the part. Under her silky fur and soft exterior there was a new toughness of muscle, bone, and mind that nearly likened her to Valdis. Forced motherhood had shaped the change, and the daily sight of her pups built a callous of blood lust for their father around her heart. She did not concern herself with who may have been watching or listening as she stalked the pack grounds for Caydenn.
"He'll pay..for what he did..tricking, raping b*****d..He'll pay in blood," she breathed, her voice dark and menacing, almost husky from disuse, "He'll not get away with it..."

Chernabog slid from the darkness behind Liriel and stood calmly his ears pricking at her words. Such a pity that his lovely amethyst gem had become a mother, still there was hope for she didn't appear softened by it. While she was still a favored female as a warrior, there was no more desire for her to be his queen. He had already seen what pups she produced some held promise, others held secrets.
He wondered idly if she would be angry with him for sending her son to her each evening battered and broken. The boy had a spirit Chernabog admired, it was deeply amusing, yet at the same time he knew someday the male might grow into a force more powerful then his mother. He also wondered as to why Liriel allowed her daughter to consort with slaves, yet there was ambition in that girl that was also admirable.
He grinned then his voice a soft admonishing tone. "Looking for your lover?"

Her steps halted, ears laid back, and her body shook with rage at her alpha's words. Slowly she turned and leveled her gaze upon him, her eyes burning in the dark like hot lamps. Her blood couldn't help but boil at the thought that her alpha, the male she had pined for, thought she was happily slinking around with that silver tongued devil that veritably ruined her life.
"WHAT lover?" she practically growled, her voice sharp and biting as she struggled to keep her calm. "You mean that conniving b*****d that stole me as I dreamed of you?" Her head cocked to the side slightly, her eyes for once showing the deep-rooted pain of her crushed dreams as her maw twisted into a cruel smile. "Why..yes..I AM searching for him..and when I find him, he will be no more..I'll destroy him as he destroyed me.."
She lifted her head a moment, just to scent at the air. She doubted that any trace of him would be carried on the wind..as she hadn't seem much of Caydenn at all since that fateful night he had impersonated her alpha in the dark. "I'll find him..find him and line my den with his tattered hide, that's what I'll do..The children will have their father as a damned rug..and that'll have to be good enough.."

Chernabog couldn't help but grin at Liriels one, she was so amazing like this, a dangerous predator. Her eyes almost glowed with her inner ferocity and he found it amazing that motherhood had made her perhaps fiercer. He had to grudgingly hand it to Caydenn for being able to toy with his purple beauty's mind. Pity that it might very well be the last thing the slick male managed to do.
The large alpha was mildly surprised though as Liriel admitted to having been dreaming of him. His smirk slowly widened into the double row of fangs, one set metallic the other enamel. "If it had been me my violet vicious beauty, you would have known it." He chuckled and moved closer to her.
"At least some of your children show promise Liriel, you should content yourself. I have a feeling your ambitious daughter intends to land in your pawprints. Your son may not be destined to become a lord, but the spirit of a warrior...well it's obvious that it's your drive he has in him." The compliments were not without careful meaning, not intended as flattery but as the building blocks for a mother to cultivate her childrens natural talents. After all Chernabog knew that while he might have the finest, strongest, and most cunning court members, it was all for not if they were unable to pass down their best traits for a stronger future.

Liriels heart broke just a little more as her alpha came closer, all smiles as he chuckled at her pain. She couldn't expect any pity, she wasn't stupid enough to think Chernabog would really give a damn, but it still stung. His closeness tortured her..her body still pined for him even though she knew it was hopeless. "The dream seemed real enough, my lord..thought I heard your voice..but it wasn't you, and it never will be, will it? No..only when those whelps were born did I even know what had really taken place. I'll kill him for what he did.."
Her sorrow boiled over again into rage, her body hot from tensed muscle and fiery anger. Chernabog's words hardly kept her still, let alone soothed any of her rage. Be content? she thought, About what? Sure, she had her children, and if Liriel had been a different type of wolf perhaps that would have soothed her hurt, but motherhood was no consolation for her blackened heart. Honestly she couldn't have cared less if any of them was killed, as she had almost done it herself upon seeing them for the first time. No..she was no mother..keeping herself from killing them was the best she could do , and perhaps beat them into shape to be the pack's new warriors. That was her duty, but that would do nothing to heal her broken heart.
She would have to find new dreams, somehow, new goals, new ambitions to climb for. She would be damned if she stay anything so simple as a lowly "mother".

Chernabog slowly moved closer and curved his body around Liriels gently nipping her ear. "Come now my dark beauty, it's not all bad...within you is still ferocity I'm certain. Let this lesson strengthen you Liriel...I worried that motherhood would weaken you, but it appears to have made you all the fiercer."
He slowly pulled away and glanced at her. "You must strive if you intent to remain within the court, your own whelps will overshadow you. Already there as much promise in the younger generations, you must learn to harness that potential, or be crushed by it."
His tone was serious now, darker, offering advice because he knew his lovely lady had been tricked. He sincerely hoped she did manage to exact her revenge and learn her lesson about trusting strange and charming males.

Liriel closed her eyes and forced herself to swallow her pain, to push it away into some dark corner of her mind. The lesson stung, especially when she realized that even if she had been fully awake during the attack, she doubted her own strength could have won out against Caydenn's large frame and imposing weight. In the end..what could she really have done if he kept his throat out of her reach?
When her eyes opened again, they were iced over, as if lit by cold fire. She doubted she would ever pine for any wolf's affections ever again..and her children..she would have to keep those whelps in line, wouldn't she? She would not be overshadowed by her rapists' spawn..no..but she would use them..wrap them around her little digit and turn them into her personal task force. She would have to train them and trick them, perhaps pretend to love them -especially Gabrielle- to shut their yaps and have them do her bidding.
She had been dealt a loosing hand..but she would be damned if she didn't play it to its best advantage. She had to make something of herself and her brood, lest she be a wanderer all over again..
"Yes, my lord...I do believe I understand what I must do..."

Chernabog smiled then and licked her cheek softly pleased by the fire in her eyes. "Good, I worried you had been sapped of the ferocity I so admired. You will rise above this Liriel, but you must not give into pity. Pity is for the weak, and you are NOT weak."
He nudged her then with his larger frame. "Go eat before you wither away, your pups have probably stolen all your strength."

A brief blush of heat rose to her cheek from the small show of affection, despite her new icy demeanor. Thankfully any hint of a blush was safely hidden behind her thick raven fur and feathered mask. She knew it was nothing, she knew better than to think her alpha could possibly care for her that way, not anymore, but the gesture was mildly comforting nonetheless.
A cruel smile tugged up the corners of her maw as she straightened her posture and stretched her now-lighter frame. Whatever pup-weight she had gained was well long gone, as well as a little of her original weight..she may be smaller now, but Chernabog was right..she was not lacking at all in her bloodthirst and ferocity..if anything she had become fiercer for her suffering. She would be dangerous indeed once she gained a little of her weight back..
She couldn't help but chuckle at her alpha's orders, and she nodded in approval. "Oh yes..and eat I shall..perhaps the two useless whelps will at least taste nice.." she joked, though the cruel fire in her eyes still hinted that she may or may not be, "Then I'll get back what they sapped from me... Perhaps I should invite Valdis over for a little dinner party.."

A chuckle slid out and his grin widened the dangerous double row of enamel and metal fangs shone. "You and Valdis are my fiercest warriors, you should both train together, one fire might enhance the other...and Static as well she's quite proficient."
Now that Liriel seemed to be back in proper spirits he too found himself content, the energy and passion he had admired was not dead. Of course he no longer looked at her with the gleam in his eyes, for what use did he have now that he had already seen what offspring she could produce.
