I went to a game workshop yesterday, and ended up meeting the head of the CEO of a Canadian game company called Frozen North Productions. They designed a game for the Wii coming out called 'Flip's Twisted World'.
And while most people went there to b***h him out for the similarity it had to Mario Galaxy, nobody ended up doing that because he was so ******** charismatic about it. He was super funny, not stuck up by any means, and a good guy to listen and ask questions to.
And what's more?
a bunch of us went out for drinks later at one of our campus pubs.
We bickered over our tastes in beer (Rickards Red VS Rickards White) and exchanged stories. This guy made his point clear to you, and for that, i had to respect him. He warned me early on that i was going to have to deal with crap from socially awkward guys hitting on me throughout school AND the industry, just like the future head of Ubisoft Toronto has dealt with (who was accused by many males that her game would not have succeeded if not for her giving out a b*****b with each game).
Near the end, when we're getting up to leave, we exchanged gamertags (alas, i have yet to get mine with my 360) and just as we were leaving i stopped when one of my future game dev profs didn't finish his Rickards. There was like two thirds left. So when i asked him why he wasn't finishing it, he said i could have it.
I LOVE THIS SCHOOL! >D
I also ended up going to a LAN party and hung out with the weirdest guys ever. Then we sat in the lobby and watched a guy who had somehow cracked his head open receive medical attention. Then some asian guy who claims he was going 75kph on rollerblades came and talked to us, then found out that I (the only girl in the group) was in game dev.
And all of a sudden i was the most interesting person there to him.
I think he was drunk, he kept calling me cute and that I looked like an anime character and stuff. It was weird.
Going downstairs for brunch tomorrow with the guys XD Including the Wolowitz clone.
*headdesk* Discuss university life and stuffs?
oh, and Big Bang Theory, because it's good.

I'm glad you're having so much fun TTwTT
I've been eating a meal a day for the last two weeks cause my classes are from 9AM till 6PM, and then I stay at the school till 9-10 to do homework >__>"
Like, this weekend alone I have to finish digitally painting a title page for digital tools, draw 2 hands and 2 feet (there's more [12 each due in 4 weeks], I'm just splitting up the work to stay ahead), draw 3 different views of 3 different types of vertebrae (splitting this up too cause a group of 6-7 has 2 weeks with each bone, then there's a rotation for either a skull, a scapula or arm / leg drawings), design my character for the rotation due next week and draw the same painting 4 times cause we're painting it using 4 different methods >__>"
And that's me staying ahead 'cause I already finished 3/4 of my animation homework D;
But besides the non-stop homework, I'm having some fun 'cause my classmates are all pretty awesome biggrin We have this British guy in our class and he's hilarious xDD
Edit: Oh! We also had 2 guest speakers come in already, they were pretty inspirational biggrin One guy's been in the animation industry as a FREELANCE animator for 50 YEARS and has produced over 200 films apparently, some for sesame street. Then this other guy called Don Huhn came in who produced a good sum of Disney movies like Atlantis and Fantasia, and everyone there were on the edges of their seats cause he was showing us Disney exclusive clips (Like Lorenzo;short xD) and talking about other artists and their awesomeness >3>"

Haha, that sounds fun xd And a weird industry to be a female in. Haha.
I had so much fun yesterday *_* I only have one class on Fridays (Japanese), so then I just got to hang out with people for the rest of the day. I had signed up for a language exchange partner, so during my mass expanse of free time I met up with a Chinese graduate student. He seems pretty cool, and like I can learn a lot from him, though he also made me realize how little I know about China and whatnot >.< He also seemed a bit annoyed that Japanese was my specialty <_<;; Yet at the same time, he was very impressed with how much I'd been able to learn in only a year.
Then I hung out with a few friends, went and got some free food... They were teaching me Hmong, except they tricked me into learning a dirty phrase sweatdrop Actually it made me laugh. We were standing in line for food behind this guy whom I'd asked for his number before, and he kept giving us weird looks when they were teaching me xD;
Theeen I got to go to the Japanese Student Association's first meeting. I love all the people in there TwT; They're all so friendly! We did a few stupid activities like the human knot thing (which we failed at twice before we got it, lol.) I met this adorable girl who was studying abroad, she was so sweet ~w~ And a bunch of other people too, and some Jrock fans, lol. We got more free food, and there was a paper airplane contest. Which my friend won and I lost pathetically at. Then we started bugging this one Japanese guy that he should hang out with us more just before we left. Haha. He's the most lovable guy ever, so I hope we can all find mutual free time. xd
*bounces around* This year is gonna be cool.

Aw I'm jealous of you guys. You sound like you're taking such fun classes!
I'm just doing my generals at the community college for the time being. It still is pretty fun though. My favorite class is film, although there are a lot of tards in that class. The teacher asked for an example of metaphore, and a girl said "would an example be when guys where shirts that say 'tough guys wear pink?'" -_- haha.

I'm so jealous! ;-;
The only thing fun that I did in college was the 2 Bingo nights I did ((my first one I had my appendix out 1 day before xd )) and the second one I chuged down a drink that had rice, cottage cheese, M and M's, hot sauce, and some other things. I won 3 gift cards cause I was the only to finish it! Everyone else puked it up o-o
Anime club was awesome too! biggrin

D: why did i not apply to college last year? i'm missing so many fun things! but then again, i'm socially defunct, so...i probably wouldn't do such crazy things x.x i don't even drink *doesn't like alcohol*

I'm actually not as psyched about university life as I think most people are. I mean, I hang with friends and socialize and stuff, but I always love being home. Iunno, I just need some personal space sometimes, and I don't have the stamina to go and socialize and party and whatever for 12 hours straight.
I think it's because I'm still getting used to these "new" people and I miss the friends I had for years where I could be weird and everything with, and they'd understand.
That, and I'm not much of a partier, and everyone on my floor seems to like to go out and party. And come back at 3 am. And get drunk and resprain their ankles. D<
@Dark: HIGH FIVE! I can't drink anyway, but I dislike alcohol. People around me tend to do stupid things when involved with it. When I can though, I want to try a small fruity cocktail, because I heard those were supposed to be sweet and they look really pretty. *w*
Oh but on a brighter note, Japanese and Chinese club are awesome~

Seliece @Dark: HIGH FIVE! I can't drink anyway, but I dislike alcohol. People around me tend to do stupid things when involved with it. When I can though, I want to try a small fruity cocktail, because I heard those were supposed to be sweet and they look really pretty. *w* i can drink ('cause the drinking age is 19 in Ontario...not that that's ever stopped people), but i seem to get sick to my stomach with even one sip D: but then, i've only tried beer (dark ale), white wine and i think peach schnapps. but they've been enough to turn me off it for a long while -.- might have to try the fruity cocktails though. the fruitiness might hide the taste of the alcohol (which may be what makes me sick). but yes, the stupid things when inebriated is also a reason why i don't drink. i'd rather stay sober to keep an eye out and to see what stupid things people do (and it most definately won't be for blackmail/in-case-of-revenge purposes ninja )

It's so strange how every school has a completely different feel to it, eh? XD
we had another LAN party last night XD I was up till 4AM afterwards watching discovery channel (Destroyed in seconds and Mythbusters).
oh! and 75kph guy found us again >> he keeps kind of hitting on me and it creeps me out slightly.
