Well, the VERY first time I found out about Death Note, it was when it just came out on Adult Swim. I thought Samurai Champloo was about to come on- I was wrong. The first thing I saw was Ryuk...I turned the TV off. Back in those days, I was scared of pretty much everything...then I forgot about it(The show).
A few years later, my sister watches it, and I still just kicked it to the side, I didn't even know what it was about. Didn't bother looking it up.
Then me and my sis were watching amvs about hot anime guys and I saw Matt. Reaction: DAMN!!! WHO IS THAT?? Then I saw Light. Reaction: WHo-Who is that fine *ss guy? They showed L and Mello but I didn't find them attractive....
About a week later, after watching tons of slide shows and reading about him a bit, I just fell over L. Like hard. So, I was a bit scared to see Ryuk again, or rather scared of how I felt when I saw him years ago, but I wound up watching it(mostly for L)... Plot = awesome. ORIGINAL. And it makes you think. Still my number 1 anime...still head over EVERYTHING in love with L..and Ryuk is one of my fave characters. whee Light is my most hated...
That is how DN came to be for me...

I was actually totally unaware of the anime until I stumbled across a DVD in a pawn shop (great place to get cheap movies).
