Okay it happened...My gums are receding dangerously low.

Why you may wonder? Because I had a bloody tongue ring.
I took it out this week, and ive continued brushing as normal with my regular toothpaste.

Im so scared, i dont want to loose a tooth over this at only 20 years old.
I dont have health insurance - so a dentist is out of hte question.

I would appreciate any help and advice!

Oh teeth...how I hate the trouble they cause!

An interesting thing I learned a couple days ago from my dentist, is that while grinding your teeth may be bad for the teeth, it does make your gums stronger. So maybe try grinding a bit? And FLOSS!!! Just try getting your gums as healthy as possible.

Also, I've been told that people without dental insurance can try negotiating for different prices on treatments. I haven't tried that yet, but I think I will when I have to go tomorrow.

I think some schools with dental programs see people for a reduced fee. So you could try calling some local colleges and asking.

You can also call a dentist and ask if they offer payment plans.

Or you could apply for Medicare/Medicaid and see if they can help.

Eventually you're going to have to see a dentist. At least you took care of the cause though, you removed the tongue stud. Now all you can do is use toothpaste for sensitive teeth if it hurts and be sure to brush effectively down in the space where the gums have receded. If any food junk stays in there it will cause decay.

I don't know about recommending grinding though. I've been a severe grinder my whole life and now I have very short and sensitive teeth as a result. It's not something you want to get into if you can help it.

Hrrm...It doesnt hurt when i brush or anything. Even with my regular toothpaste, is that a good sign? razz

Okay, I will call a low-cost dentist and see what their prices are.
Although from reading, all that can really help is plastic surgery on the gums @_@

electric toothbrush and don't brush to hard. This is what my dentist told my aunt who has receding gum line. And ya, floss as often as you can.

this.

frantically brushing will only help to make your gums recede even more. when i was younger i brushed too hard and my gums started to recede as a result. they were all inflamed and irritated.
