Visiting home had been ... well, "pleasure" was not quite the right word, but Akram had enjoyed seeing his elder sister again, at least. Even his younger siblings and his aunt and his mother and his half-mother had been tolerable for the first day or so. Lily had been quite the conversation piece, too, and fortunately, that had seemed to divert at least some of his aunt's attention away from Akram for the week he had spent there.
But now he and Lily were back in Gaia, along with their jet lag.
Akram had, following the advice he had always heard and always gone by, stayed up until his regular bed time the previous day, in spite of his exhaustion after a day of travel. Unfortunately, he then found himself up before the Gaian sunrise once again.
Lily, still too young to possess the resolve to stay up until a reasonable time to fix her schedule, had gone to bed immediately after dinner, and awakened at about the same time as her adoptive father. The little girl had gotten more sleep, though, and was therefore considerably more energetic than her father.
After trying to entertain himself and Lily with some absolutely abysmal television for an hour or so (low volume, so he would not awaken his poor roommate), Akram's tired neurons finally were able to connect, allowing him to remember that Barton Bagels was open early on weekdays. And so he got himself and Lily dressed, and headed out to get himself an enormous cup of coffee and a bagel or something for the little one.
Barton looked different in the early morning light - sort of grey, and it was much chillier out in Gaia now than it had been back in Isur. Lily was not entirely sure at all why it felt like time was all wrong here, but she was awake now and that was all that mattered to her. As Akram took her outside for a walk, she looked up at the sky and watched the clouds. The whole way to the bagel shop. Akram had to herd her back onto the sidewalk a few times, but Lily managed not to trip.

Seiji rubs at his eyes as her crosses the street heading towards the bagel shop. Backpack in hand, while in the other a a book that he was currently reading. He found himself rather tired on this cool morning, and because of this, he pulled the hoodie over his head alittle. Fall was drawing closer with each passing day, which meant winter would be upon him soon.
Shaking his head, she chews on his bottom lip for a moment. As his tail brush the ground, he glances up to nod to an older gentleman entering the shop. Stepping into the shop, he instantly pulls his hood down.
Golden eyes scan the room, giving a small wave to the cashier behind the counter "Hey Seiji, you want your normal?" as the young dragon nods, he moves over to a booth in the corner. Pulling his backpack off, he sets it down next to him as he eyes the clock on the wall.
He still had almost two hours before school, so it would give him a chance work on his homework that he forgotten last night. Lately home just wasn't fun, and he needed some peace.

Akram went up to the counter and ordered the biggest coffee they served, along with a pair of plain bagels and hazelnut cream cheese. Even though he and Lily were the only ones in the shop, the cashier handed him a little stand with a card bearing a number clipped onto the top; Akram took it to a table by the window and slumped down.
He turned to look as another customer entered a few moments later, and then had to shut his eyes and cram half of his fist into his mouth to try to hide a yawn.
Lily padded across the floor very carefully, trailing behind her father on the way from the door to the counter, and then from the counter to the table. The floor tiles were checkered, and she could only step on the red ones! She was distracted from her game as the door opened again, though, and she stared at the dragon-boy who entered.
The girl's mouth formed into a little "o" shape and she touched the pair of short horns on top of her head as she stared at the ones the boy had on his head.

Seiji was so caught up in what he was doing, that he hadn't seen the other small dragon or her guardian. Flipping the pages in his English text book, he pauses on the page that was halfway down. He had to fall asleep listening to his music, not that it matters.
Turning towards the counter just as his name is called, he blinks as he now see the little girl dragon. His eyes widen just alittle as he finds himself in shock. Outside his cousin, he never seen another dragon.
Slipping out of the booth, he moves towards the counter. Picking up his bagel and hot chocolate, he turns to look at the girl. Tilting his head, he watches her as she watches him "Hello...."

"Hello," the girl mouths, rather than says in response, exaggerating the movements of her lips a little as she does so. Then she giggles softly.
Lily then points upwards with both index fingers, and holds her hands to the side of her head to mimic the older boy's longer pointy horns. And stares at him, half smiling.
After a moment, though, Lily abruptly notices that she is accidentally standing on one of the white tiles on the floor, and with a surprised squeak, jumps onto one of the safe red ones again.
A small smile tugs at the corner of Akram's mouth as he props his chin up on his hand and rests his elbow on the table to hold his tired head up. He would keep half an eye on Lily, but figures he could let her wander around a bit for now. With only one other customer (who looks closer to her age than to Akram's anyway), he figures there is not too much trouble she could get into.
