I'm here kind of infrequently lately. On Monday morning my low back spasmed and left me with sharp nerve pain down my left hip, and I went to the chiropractor and ER and got some heavy pain meds which made me sleep all day yesterday. Today it's not as bad as it was Monday (the onset is always the worst) but it hurts sitting for long or standing for long, so I'll be laying on the couch more than usual. I go in tomorrow to see a new primary care physician (I haven't had one up here since we moved) and hopefully I'll get scheduled for an MRI soon to see what's up with that second degenerated/bulging disc which wasn't touched in my last surgery. This back spasm and lingering pain is much like what happened last time when my disc severely ruptured, so I'm wondering if something similar happened to that second disc.

Oh, it's much easier this time. Last time I was breastfeeding and I had to pump and store enough milk for Jade while I was in the hospital, and then pump and discard every 3 hours in the hospital, and I would have much rather just rested, being so groggy and everything. But even so, back surgery was CAKE compared to giving birth and recovering from that!

I know what to expect this time, and I'm actually looking forward to surgery if they can do the same fix on this second disc, because of the wonders the first surgery did for the pain down my left leg, if this can do the same for the right, I may be free of these back troubles that have plagued me since I was 17!

I had my MRI today, just waiting on results.

I got the results of my MRI today at my followup (there was a mixup somewhere and they never called me, or had it in my chart when I called them) and apparently the disc that I had surgery on in 2001 has RE-herniated. rolleyes The disc above it that I thought might be causing these new problems is somewhat herniated centrally, but the lower disc is the one that's coming out the side and pushing on a nerve. rolleyes

It's up to me to decide whether I want to consult with my surgeon again, or see what he suggests. I could probably wait and see what happens though because my symptoms aren't as pressing as they were last time.

Any, my leave of absense... Jason, Jade and I are leaving Friday (the 15th) to drive out 30 hours to Carolina Beach, and will return on Sunday (the 25th.) I'll have no internet access while I'm gone, but will see you all when we return!
