Ok, I didn't know where else to put this so I'll start a new thread.
If y'all haven't noticed yet, I am a sousaphoner biggrin and I absolutely love it. Anyway...
My band practices every Tuesday after school from 3 o'clock to seven o'clock and we started setting part three today. Well there's this little pit where we Sousas have a section solo. So we all break out of our wavy block/arc thing and go over to where colourguard has set up these large flat boxes. Well, we decided to put two of them on top of each other to even out all of our heights. It as actually really cool.
Any way, to make a long story short, the boxes aren't really secure when they're stacked, so one of our little freshmen sousies goes to jump off the box to get to his next set and the one on top slips out from under him. Well he lands on both feet but half runs the next five to seven yards trying to regain his balance before falling forward and hitting his head against the bell which hit the ground (and dented)
So, while two of our sousies are running back to their set, Cody (drum major) and I (who is out of marching due to a broken toe) run over to help Shawn (who fell) (Our section leader had to leave earlie so he could write his senior paper or something 'important' biggrin ) Anyway, Cody and I are laughing and we eventually get the sousa off of Shawn. Cody takes Shawn to go sit down and I grab the sousa and his music/sets and go over to wait for him to calm down.
Turns out, he hit his head pretty hard and dented the bell /back/ into place! But apparently he was crying a little because he was so embarrassed. ((Back story time! There was this girl named DC who played Sousa and graduated last year. She was so unlucky and always fell with it or dropped her mouthpeice off the bleachers)) Anyway, he was so embarrassed because he didn't want to be the new DC.
We eventually got him up and at it again. He got a drink, grabbed the Sousa and headed back out... Brave little toaster...
As a band, we have pretty much voted it the most epic Sousafall ever! And Cody just keeps telling him "At least it wasn't a game or competition..."
So, any Sousafalls of your own? Or tell me what you think of poor Shawn's biggrin I love that kid. Oh, I think I forgot to mention that he's the brother of our section leader which makes the embarrassment all that much worse biggrin

I play Marching Tuba and on our opener we go from a scatter to an arch in i believe 8 counts. The Trumpeter that is to my left never goes to far enough to the left so every time i'm like freaking out that he is going to hit me. During our second game he was like 1 inch in front of my bell and he yelled "OH s**t!!" and during practice once for our 4th song, Battery Battle, After high stepping at half-time for 16 counts, The low brass goes into a little diamond and then to Two long lines parallel to each other. Then we shove our horns up and back pedal immediately after that sense i'm the right and the Baritone behind me quit, i'm like all alone and i almost ran into the Section leader and he was like "Oh ********!" and then came up to me and was like "I think I spoke for both of us." It was funny, though sense i'm an 8th grader, i've never seen one yet.

At our last game one of the picollo players sat on our exchange student's flute, and th flute fell and now has a nice sized dent in it, but it still plays fine.

Poor Shawn. I play Souzaphone too and there's this time in the middle of our second song where one of the guard girls marches right behind me. Well during band camp she misjudged her flag and whacked it right into the back of my souzaphone! She hit it so hard it knocked my mouthpiece away from me and made me bend and almost hit the trumpet besibe me. Luckily i didn't fall but now there is a huge dent in the bell.

Aw that's horrible! Dang guard members lol...
We where at the game this last week and the lights decided to burn out as I was literally stepping onto the field, so rather then march int he dark *which we should have done* we stood in a block and played.
Anyway, we did the regular stuff after the show, fight song et cetera. So there's one song where we literally go insane and run over the entire field, so one of our sousa guys was spinning in circles a lot and just sorta fell over. It was so gradual and slow though it was funny biggrin

So, our BD made us march to the baseball field across the schoolXD

You had to march on the baseball field!? That is so weird and pointless. There's no lines and it's way dusty!

our school marches concert tubas so like all the weight is on one shoulder and my brave brave friend switched from Flute to Tuba so we were practicing after school (me having just switched to horn) when she decided it was time to attempt to snap the tuba up (she had been only playing for a week and had not tried marching with it) so she was like "okay....one...two...three!" and she snapped the damn thing up to hard so it was on her shoulders for like two seconds, then slowly she began to fall backwards screaming "S***!!!!!!" luckily she caught herself before any damage could come to her or the tuba but to this day i still make fun of her for that blaugh blaugh
