PostPosted: Tue Sep 15, 2009 5:31 pm

It had taken a while but the metal dragon hadn't killed him, even if there fighting had gotten them locked in a room together. It was late as Eleanor stumbled in from a successfully completed mission, however something was wrong. despite taking out her target with ease she felt horrible, light headed and hot she grumbled as she got to the room the two now sheared. She forced open the door and dropped on to the bed.

Nikolai looked up from the book he was reading in the dimly lit room. He'd been there for a while, waiting for her to return. But, of course, she wouldn't know this. "And there goes a perfectly good night." he said, rather snippity for one whom wasn't truly bothered. "Tired I presume?" he asked, noting the way she had flopped onto the bed, something that wasn't usual for Eleanor.

Eleanor glanced at him and sat up pulling a few bobby pins out letting her curly hair free, he face was a bit flushed and she kicked her boots off. "I'm not sure that's the word for it...." she muttered softly then muffled a cough with her forearm. Her voice was ragged as she spoke something that was very unusual for her, and shes hadn't snapped at him, even stranger.

Nikolai looked at Eleanor quizzically. Something was up, he knew this much. And, he had a guess of what it was. "Lay back on the bed, Eleanor." he ordered, rather than asking. He set his book down upon the bed, facing the pages down-lest he lose his page. Standing, he crossed the room and gathered his medical bag. Nikolai opened it, and rummaged for a moment, pulling out a disposable thermometer, and proceeded to bring it to Eleanor.

Eleanor snorted as he ordered her around. "What for, just because I'm tired? I'm always tired after a good run." she got up and pulled her panty hoes down before taking them off. She stumbled having to put a hand on the bed ot keep from falling grumbling about how stupid her paint hoes were. She glanced over at him as he dug around in his back finally spotting the thermometer. "what do you that silly thing for?"

Nikolai didn't grin this time, his face was rather grim. If the thermometer read high, he would know that he had gotten Eleanor sick. If not, then he could continue reading his book. "Just a routine check." He lied, passing the thermometer to her.

Eleanor raised a brow at him. "You think I got your stupid flu do you? HA! You couldn't give me anything and for sure not a stupid cold." She handed it back to him and moved over to her closet to get ready for bed, the annoying thing was she was beginning to wonder if he had. She was shivering slightly but trying her best to hide it by moving around a lot. "Look if you really think I'm sick, which, i'm not! I'll go to bed early sound fair?" she un did her dress and slipped out of it, in strange girlyish puffy panties and a bra.

Nikolai sighed, pulling off his glasses, and pinching the bridge of his nose with a thumb and forefinger. "Yes, I think you're sick." he answered, avoiding the entire question. "And no, that doesn't sound fair." Nikolai set the thermometer on the bed, and decided to go for an easier way to see whether she was sick or not. Edna showed herself at his side, slowly approaching Eleanor as he did. She would whine if Eleanor was sick, and remain quiet if she was healthy.

Eleanor pulled on her PJ's and turned ot face him taking a few steps back as she spotted Edna. "Someone's persistent tonight!" She snapped giving the little dragon such a glare. She made sure not to take her eyes of Edna as she shout the closet and leaned on it. "and why isn't that fair?! Its what you'd have me do if i was sick...but I'm not, understand?"

Edna hid behind Nikolai quivering. As she swirled behind him, she gave a soft squeak, confirming Nikolai's suspicions. "That is what I would have you do, if you were sick, which you are." he replied, kneeding his forehead in annoyance, with himself.

"I am not." she brushed passed him knowing the dragon had felt her fever. "But, just because your asking I'll go make my self some tea and go to bed...." that didn't sound like her at all, but she was sick after all.

"Thank you." Nikolai said, grinning at the thick headedness of Eleanor. A trait he admired, but was also frustrated by. He followed her into the kitchen, going to one of the upper cupboards and removing a bottle of medicine. Dropping two pills out, he brought them to Eleanor. "May as well take these, just in case."

Eleanor glanced at the pills then put the water on and took them from his hand. "Just in case." She popped them in her mouth smiling, happy he was playing along so well. She leaned on the cabinet with a yawn rubbing her eyes. It was rare to see the woman this tired looking at any point in the day, even when she was about to go to sleep

Nikolai smiled, she had done as he asked without an argument for once. A shock to him. Folding his arms and looking stern again, he pointed to the bedroom. "You go lay down, I will bring you your tea." he said, hoping she would listen again.

A smile smirk appeared on Eleanor's lips. "You know, forcing me to do something never ever works." She was stopped by a cough and she covered his mouth as her body shuttered.

Nikolai stepped over to Eleanor, his stride long and quick, as he wasted no time in coming to her side. Setting a hand on her back, and the other on her chest, he wordlessly worked- with his dragon- to clear her lungs. His work would keep them clear for a while but she needed to be resting if she wanted to get better. "Please go lay down?"

Eleanor looked up her mouth still covered her cheeks flushed from the small coughing fit. She could feel the little dragon in side her and hung her head in defeat. "Fine." she muttered then pushed passed him a dutifully headed to bed. She sighed sitting on the bed muttering ot her self. "Of all the stupid things...oh that man...he's shall always be my biggest down fall...." she then smiled and lied back on the bed.

Nikolai prepared her tea quickly, adding in a couple herbs, to help her with the coughing, then quickly masking the flavor of them with a few sweet drops of honey. He carried the hot drink out to the dimly lit bedroom, turning off the kitchen light as he left. He carefully sat on the ede of the bed next to Eleanor, handing her the warm mug of tea. "You're tea, my lady." he said obviously trying to be cute.

"Well look at that, you managed to learn manners between here and the kitchen." She sat up having half fallen asleep why he was gone. She took the tea and sipped it smiling, she could taste the herd in it but said nothing. "Thank you." she muttered and smiled at him. She sniffled lightly her nose was begining to stuff up. She leaned back on the pillows and set the tea down. The herbs where making her sleepy. "cheater....you know peppermint puts me to sleep." She yawned finally acknowledging the extra herds.

Nikolai grinned, he knew she would catch him, but it was too late, she had already drank them. "Now I'm sure you will rest, though." He answered, pulling a blanket over Eleanor. "Just stay put, and I will go get you a kleenex box." He said, winking at her as he left the room.

The woman pulled the blankets over her shoulders and yawned softly. The bed seemed cozyer then normal. She smiled and coughed a bit more sitting up so she could have a bit more tea. She glanced at the thermometer on the table and she picked it up, turned it on and sheepishly put it under her tounge.

Nikolai went into the living room, and took the box of Kleenexes off the table next to the lamp, before proceeding back into the bedroom. He stopped in the doorway, and remained silent when he saw the thermometer, wanting to know what the exact number was. He knew she wouldn't take it if she saw him.

Eleanor hadn't seen him she was tapping her foot on the side of the bed very consternated as the numbers when up. Finally it beeped and she removed it from her lips frowning. Then slammed it on the table once more and dropped back on the bed yanking the covers over her head with a huff. She was sick, in face sicker then he had been before, this annoyed her.

Nikolai stepped into the room, looking concerned. She'd slammed it onto the table, something she wouldn't have done if it read low. "Eleanor, what did it read?" he asked, worried now.

For a few moments the woman was silent brooding about how high her fever was getting. "....104..." to a normally human it would have been about 102 but because of the fire part of her dragon it was much higher. She sniffled and curled her self up tightly under the bed sheets.

Nikolai looked at her, worry covering his features. "How long?" he asked, getting right to the point for once. She'd had to have been sick for at least two days.

Eleanor shifted her legs, fidgeting under the sheets she reached a hand out and pulled a second blanket over her body. She felt cold but knew all to well she wasn't, she was sweating, her hair sticking to the side of her face and ears.

"...Three." she finally said with a weak sniffle.

"But..." she finally sat up and looked at his her lips half cracked from the feverish heat. Her ran her tongue over her chapped bottom lip and sighed softly.

"But...I couldn't very well stop taking care of you...and I had three missions all lined up. I got all three and now that there all done with-" she broke off coughing what he'd done was slowly warring off as she slept. It took her a few moments to speak again.

"And now I can just rest....I....I’ve taken a week off." For that, the woman must have been horribly sick. She never took the day off any normally was sent home kicking and screaming, when she was declared to sick to work. Her face reddened again and she lay back down feeling stupid for admitting something like this to him, but she always admitted a lot of things to him, and only to him because he was the only one she trusted with her life and heart, even if he'd smashed it long ago.
PostPosted: Wed Sep 16, 2009 9:46 pm

Nikolai sat beside her, resting his hand on top of hers, letting the relaxing powers of his dragon flow from him to her, they would make her tired, and boost up the cleansing process, hopefully making her feel more at ease. "A week." He said, surprised that he hadn't noticed she was so sick.

Eleanor's eyes grew heavily and she pressed back in to his body letting out a half content sigh. She could feel his dragon at word and smiled dimly. "...well...I'm getting on in years anyways...half the kids can out run me...they still can't beat me but...that won't last long." Her voice was sang as she spoke, Eleanor really only ever had her job. It was her life style and passion she enjoyed a few other things but should could never do them as a living. Her head dropped to his shoulder and she glanced up at him and smiled weakly her face flushing a few moment as she realized how closely he was holding her. "...what would you have do if you meet me on that train?"

Nikolai pulled Eleanor onto his lap, cradling her almost between his arms. "We all get old eventually, but that doesn't mean we have to stop what we love completely, just change directions." He said, stroking her hair gently. "I would have done this." He said, gently kissing her.
Eleanor's skin heated up as he kissed her chapped lips. She bite her lip softly and pulled away, red up to her ears. She froced a smiled but it was very clear tears where in her eyes, and they where slowly turning to steam do to the womans over heating body. "I know all that...but...sometimes I wish I could take those 20 years back and do something better with them, not just kill mob bosses...or punk kids..." she had pulled away from him now and her vision fogged. She winced then reluctantly lay back down laying her head in his lap. "....I don't like being old....but." She gave him a true smile. "I get to be with you...who would have thought that...."

Nikolai smiled, though it didn't reach his eyes. He looked sad as well. "There is no reason to regret, you've enjoyed everything until this point, have you not?" He asked. "Instead of wishing for 20 years back... why not change the next 20?" he offered, still calmly stroking her hair, his dragon still at work.

Eleanor's eyes slipped closed as he spoke the last words and smile a bit wider. She said nothing how ever, his dragon had finally lulled her to sleep. She shifted instantly curling up fully in his lap, just bearly fitting perfectly because she was small. She sniffled softly as her skin showed signs of goosebumps and she shivered lightly.

Nikolai stopped stroking her head for a moment, pulling a blanket up around her, and one around himself. He was prepared to sit with her through the night.

~~~~~~~Morning~~~~~~~~~
It was still dark and a heavy rain storm had started in the night. Elenora shifted waking with a start almost pinning the man to the bed but stopped a few inchs in front of him. She blinked knelling in front of him she wasn't even as tall as him sitting like he was. She shifted her arm black smiling at the fact he'd stay asleep even with all her movement, he much have fallen asleep not ot long ago worried about her. She sighed winceing as she felt her stomach crap. She cursed lightly then got off the bed trailing the blanket after her finally pulling it over her self like a cloak. She felt worse, dizzy and with her stomach ripping at her she finally stumbled in to the bathroom and dropped down infront of the bowl. She closed her eyes resting her forehead on the rim trying with all her might
to keep calm.
Waking slowly with the sounds of Eleanor moving, Nikolai cursed to himself, he hadn't meant to fall asleep. Following the sounds to the bathroom, he knocked lightly on the door, testing if she was inside.
Eleanor hadn't fully closed the door so it creeked open and let his shadow in. She glaced at the ground and sighed. "W-what?" she asked but that was about all she could get out before she throw up. She coughed leaning over the bowl as she felt the aicd burn his mouth and nose as it came up. Her fingers had sank in to the toliet leaving chip marks along the rim. She felt better after but was scared to move now, it have been many years since she'd been sick like that, her body was trembling voloetnly because of it and she finally sank back down glaring at the mess in the bowl.
Nikolai proceeded over next to her, pulling a washcloth from the towel rack, and quickly getting it wet before kneeling next to her. He offered it to her, not wanting to embarrass Eleanor by doing it for her. "Eleanor, what happened?" he asked, having never seen her so sick before.
She glared at him and sat back takign the towel and cleaning her self up before flushing the tolite. "What does it look like, your a doctor, i'd think you've know someone losing there guts...." she blew her nose on the rag and sighed. "....to be truth full i've felt strange for a while, thats why I took the week off." she got up and fixed her hair and pulled the lbanekt around her shoulds and dropped hte rag in the sink. "maybe you should check me over fully...." Her voice tightened at the end, she knew that ment him using a needle on her, she detested needles.
Nikolia looked at her uncertianly. "I can't tell you whats wrong with you without knowing about it, can I." He responded, more snippity than he'd intended. "Are you sure about that?" He asked, at the suggestion of a full test. He wouldn't do it unless she was positive.
The woman swollowed and nodded seeming like a frightened child. She bite he conor of her lip and moved back to the bed with out a word, sh knew if she tenced up to much about it Harmon would react making her skin metalic and un able to get thought with a needle. She sat on the bed her legs pulled to her chest as she waited for him to follow. "well, I began ot notice a few weeks ago, I can smell better, cheese inparticuler, which was useful for my profession, but i found it a bit odd. Then I just started feeling very tired all the time, to the point where i was almost falling asleep during briefings."
Nikolai walked into his study, returning with a small sterile kneedle, a set of vials, cleaning solution, and a pair of gloves. Listening to her words, only one thing came to mind, but at the thought of her age, he thought that impossible, and chose not to voice what he thought it was. He noticed how tense she was, and knew he was going to have trouble with the kneedle if she didn't relax. "I know often some colds increase sence of smell, but we can't be sure. Eleanor, please, sit back against the pillows. You need to relax." he said, setting his things on the table, before aligning the pillows with the wall so she could easily sit up against them.
Nikolai gently took her arm once she had done so, and a soft cotten ball, he took the cleaning solution and applied it to the cotton, whiping it gently along her arm. As his arms made contact with hers, Edna worked to relax her, stimulating the nerves, and having the muscles in her arm relax. "Just sit back, this doesn't hurt."
Eleanor swallowed and closed her eyes tightly as she felt the cotton ball on her arm. She did her best to say calm but it was no use. She jerked her arm away and it flushed in to a long sword a few seconds later. She sat up shivering a look at him. "...K-knock me out." she finally said knowing Harmon couldn't react if she was full asleep.
Nikolai had wondered if it was going to come to that. "This will be over soon, don't worry." He said softly, as Edna quickly put Eleanor to sleep. Edna seemed to be mastering nerve manipulation, quite surprising to Nikolai. As she was asleep, Nikolai took a band of rubber, and tightened it around the upper part of Eleanors arm, putting gloves on, and unwrapped the needle. Straightening her arm, he quickly found a vein, and poked it in. The hot red blood filled his two vials quickly, and he removed the needle, pressing another cotton ball against the small needle wound, and untying the rubber from her arm. Nikolai taped the cotton ball down against Eleanors arm as she began to wake. "I'll send these in tonight, we'll have notice tomorrow morning." He said softly to her as she woke.
Eleanor blinked awake slowly finally rolling over to her side her eyes closing again. "o-okay...." she muttered her body begging for sleep. "hey. Nik." It was rare she called him this partly because it annoyed him. "....could I have some more water?" She cracked her eyes open a little to watch him in the dark.
Nikolai smiled, Eleanor asking for something to drink was definately a good sign. "Of course!" He replied, quickly running the cultures out into his bussiness mailbox, then back in to refill her glass of water. "Here we are." He said, gently placing the glass of water into her frail hands.
She blinked awake and smiled sitting up and gently drinking the water. Her stomach was empty and she hated that feeling more then anything else. She shifted over on the bed so there was more space for him. She finished the water off breathing out a small puff of smoke she was still feverish. "blah, I hate being sick.." she grumbled and flopped down leaving him room to sleep beside her. She wanted him with her. It felt better, and kept her calm.
Nikolai sunk into the bed behind her, worn out from the long day as well. He wrapped his arm around her, pulling her close to him. "The best part of being sick is getting better..." He whispered, pulling a blanket up around the two of them.
Eleanor shifted rolling so her face was cuddled in to his chest. "I'd have to disagree with you." she cooed softly wrapping her arms around his name and pulled her self up to eye level. She was tired, very tired but still smiling. She gently kissed his cheek, giving it a soft nibbled which was more likely Harmon giving him thanks.
Nikolai grinned, his beard ticking against her lips as he did. "This isn't too bad either." He said, stifling a yawn, and gently kissing the top of her forehead. It was still very warm, but he knew the only thing that could help it now was rest.
Eleanor cuddled in to him and when right to sleep. It had been a while since she slept with someone. It was well in to the afternoon before Elarno some much as roleld over. She had slept stright thought all the noise and shouting that Darten did and the even louder shouting of Tar who had been woken by all the noise and half the house was persumed dead after that. The older women cracked open her sleep laden eyes and yawned loudly. It was clear Nikolia was no long in bed with her but there where a fe blanekts and pillows in his place. She frown but after noteing what time it was she deemed this exceptable. She still hadn't borther to sit up yet find the extra blanekts cozy.
Nikolai had gone to check his computer for the test results, he sat back in the chair, eyes wide in shock, but a smile on his face as well. There were risks, great risks, but he had to tell Eleanor. Though, he did have one wonder, a false insicurity, but one nonetheless. Was it his? Nikolai printed out the test results, and walked back into their room, seeing Eleanor was awake he greeted her. "Good afternoon." He said, rather happily, the paper gripped tightly in his hand.
"Someone looks happy to see me...what'd you do this time?" she seemed more playful now and sat up resting along the pillows he'd given her. She glanced at the paper in his fingers. "Are those for me?"
Nikolai looked down at his hand, and nodded, holding out the papers for her. "I'm not sure I did anything." He said, rather uncertain this time, though knowing full well it was foolish to be.
Eleanor raised her eyes brows confused by what he had just stated. She snatched the papers and looked hten over. She felt her smoach learch and she was almost sick right then and there. She stair wide eyes at the papers before giving him a shy grin. "oh very very funny, thats not nice to frighten a feverish woman, she might belive you. Come on where are the REAL tests hand them over." She snorted glaring at him finally.
Nikolai looked down at his feet, swallowing hard, but remaining silent. The date, and ID numbers at the top of the paper could not be forged, those were the real results.
Eleanor looked taken a back and looked at the tests again. She scanned them over and over with her eyes finally setting them on the table and bit her lip. She looked up at him. "sit." she finally said, her voice mixed with rage and sadness.
Nikolai sat next to her, slightly leary of her arms, that could turn into swords without any notice. "So.. what are we going to do?" He asked softly, not wanting to push her.
It was easy to see the woman was fighting with her self, trying to deaide if the man next to her devered dead. FInally she stealled on something and took hold of his coat and jerked his lips ot hers. It was at that moment she broke down and hugged him. She was scare, for once in her life, she'd never been scare of anything, sure she was freked out by needles...but this was raw fear.
Nikolai was surprised by the suddeness of the kiss, he had flinched away slightly, expecting her to try and kill him, but got rather the opposite. Breaking the kiss for breath, and setting his head atop of hers, holding her skaking body.
Eleanor made no attpemt to calm her self at all her nails pressing along his back as she tightened the hug they now shared. By this point she'd gotten her self ot worked up and when in to a coughing fit still clinging ot him.
Enda worked hard to try and cease the coughing fit, but it was no use, all she could do was lessen it. Nikolai cooed to Eleanor, whispering that it was allright, and that everything would work out, though he himself was scared. The risks were high, and it all came down to what Eleanor wanted. "Breath, Eleanor, Breath." He whispered, once the coughing fit had lessened.
She did as she was told giving a few short gasps that sounded like strange little hiccups before she was able to bear normally again. She sat there with her face pressed in to his chest sniffling heavily still. She swollowed a few times and finally pulled away grabing the new water he'd put on the table while she slept. She down it almost like she was drinking beer and finally seemed ot calm down.
Nikolai rubbed his hand up and down her back, holding her close to him. "What do you want to do, Eleanor. The choice is completely yours." He said, knowing she would understand.
Eleanor sighed looking down at her belly for a long time. "When I was much younger I dreamed of having a child with you...in fact I almost lost a mistion because Tar happened to point it out to me..and I attacked him not my target....." she grinned remembing the horrified look on Tars face as she pinned him to the wall screaming. "...I want to keep it....its yours...I haven't been with anyone in years"
Nikolai held her close, smiling happily. He'd wanted a child, especially one with Eleanor since not long after he'd met her. "There will be a lot of risks, you understand that, right?" He questioned, making complete sure.
"....I'm assassin for a living...er..well USE to be..." she shifted pressing in to his arm one hand on her belly. "But I can't very well be killing if i've got a baby in me...now can I?" she oddly seemed happy and looked up at him with a softly smile. "we'll find something to do."
PostPosted: Thu Sep 17, 2009 7:44 pm
Nikolai looked at Eleanor, love filling his eyes, he was proud of how courageous she was being, and quite pleased with her decision. "You can come to work with me!" He said cheerily, enjoying the idea greatly.
Elaenor bite her lip hard but finally began laughing. "Are you insane! We'd kill each other!!!" She cointuined ot laugh. "I couldn't work with you if we the last to people on earth and you know it!"
Nikolai looked disappointed, eyes dropping down with a silent sigh. "Well, we'll find something for you I suppose." He said. He was grinning brightly, but his eyes held no smile. He'd liked the idea of her going to work with him, even if she had a point.
Eleanor saw the look in his eyes and looked away she'd stopped laughing as soon as his face fell. "welll....now I might be wrong we didn't kill each other back then, but i do recall a few other people injured on around of us getting upset..."
Nikolai shook his head, a small smile reappearing. "No no, you're right. But there are other things you can do." He said, thinking a moment, before pulling a typical male move, and suggesting 'Interior designing' as a job for her. Nikolai quickly dropped to the floor after that, to avoid the weapons he was sure would come swinging at him.
Eleanor punched him in the arm and it felt like she might have flactured something but hadn't. She snorted irrated at him. "....well it'd danm wel lbe something i'm good at...let me think...." She landed back on the bed with a sniff. "....I could be a cook, but thats far to stressful...even if i work her. I can't be teacher..I'd kill someone...." she was starting to sound sleepy she still had a fever after all. "....ugn. I'm not good at much..." she was slowly becoming angry with her self.
Nikolai got back up and sat beside Eleanor again, hugging her close. "We'll find you something, don't fret about it. For now, you need to rest." He said, beaming at her.
Eleanor felt a bit sleepy she'd only just woken up but she knew her body needed rest. She yawned softly and hugged him to her a few seconds. "....maybe I will work with you...just a week, it might be really ammazing..." she muttered slipped down and finally falling on ot her pillows nad bunched them up like a nest. It was a strange sight and Elenaor finally stopped and looked at him confused. " I
*might be a godo test subject on the pregental habits of a dragon souled....like nesting."
Nikolai tensed a bit at the suggestion of testing. He never enjoyed the phrase 'testing' being combined with 'dragon souled'. He considered the work he did as simple observations, Testing involved adding things that shouldn't be there. He closed his eyes for a few brief seconds, steadying his racing heart, before talking. "I'd love to observe, seems fascinating."
"Thats a better word for it." She muttered as she bunched the blanekts up and lay down finally, she had taken a small section of the bed nad pailed everything in it, but it didn't seem right and she un did every thing glaring at it. Finally she looked at him. "Harmon says you have ot do it..."
Looking quizzically at the jumbled mess of blankets on the bed, Nikolai neatened them back out to their former state, assuming that she was just having trouble making the bed. "There, now they aren't so bunched." He said, offering his hand to help her get comfortable if she wanted.
Eleanor cuddled back in to the blankets and smiled pulling a lost bit over her body. "Good." he had taken his hand and gnetly laced fingers with him. She yawned softly slowly falling asleep holding his fingers. "....I...I love you...." he muttered in a mixed voice. It was even rare to here her voice like with along with her dragon counter part.
Nikolai seemed to be warmed through. "I love you too." He whispered as she fell asleep, laying on the bed next to her, keeping their fingers laced. He knew she would stay asleep if he was there.
She didn't sleep to long, only a few hours. She hadn't moved at all in the time she was cuddled in the nest but did awake up feeling sick ot her stomach. The only troble was she hadn't eat anything. Her fingers tightened on his but she madged ot keep them normal and unbladed for the time being as she faugh to keep her stomach calm.
Nikolai, looked at her strangely as she woke. "What is it, Eleanor, whats wrong." He asked, looking worried. He hadn't remembered food with all of the events.
Eleanor hadn't move from her next. "Morning sickness.I'll be right back...would you go made me something to eat?" she muttered finally letting go and getting up. She was a bit light headed and made i to the bathroom on her own. After a bit she had returned shivering as her cheeks flushed red.
Nikolai had gone into the kitchen during the time she was gone, and quickly prepared a grilled cheese for her, while it wasn't one of the best foods around, it was something quick and easy to prepare. Returning to her, he helped recover her in blankets, as it as best to keep Eleanor warm, before handing her the food, and a cold glass of milk.
Elenor looked away sheepishly and took the sandwich as he covered her up again. It was true she loved to be warm, which wasn't always easily with metalic bones. She munched silently on the sandwich glancing at him from time to time. She still wasn't sure she'd be able to handle all of this, but he would be with her. She finished off the milk and sandwich and slipped back under the covers. "Hey, would you see if my fevers gone down any..." she blushed again and pulled the blankets up a bit more.
Nikolai nodded, reaching for the thermomiter he'd left on the table after cleaning it. "Of course, hopefully we'll get lucky. Open please" He said, as he turned it on.
Eleanor opened her mouth and let him put the thermometer in. She sat there watching it her eyes slowly lulling closed and she resting along the blankets a content smile on her face. It had been a long time since this smile had appered, she started abit as it beeped and opened her eyes taking the noisy thing out of her mouth with a snort. "whats it say?" she was annoyed again as she glared at the
thermometer
Nikolai removed the thermometer from Eleanors mouth gently, as he read the numbers. Thankfully, they were normal, for now at least. It seemed the rest had done a little bit of good. "You're 99.7 Eleanor, pretty normal for you." He said, smiling lightly.
"Thats about right." she yawned and finally sat up again. "lay around here won't get any work done..." she kicked the blankets off and wiggled out of bed placing her hand on his head as she did so.
Nikolai chucked at her, and how quickly she assumed she would be returning to work. "What kind of work do you expect to be doing?" He asked her lightly, not wanting to offend her.
Eleanor stop her hand on his head. She gritted her teeth and pressed his sharp nails in to skull. "I haven't desiced yet." she let go taking a bit of blood as she walked away and began cleaning up the lab, she still had a small cough and a bit of the sniffles but she was trying to igrnor all that hoping he would to.
Nikolai rubbed his head, grumbling at her quick temper. "I guess we can be glad no one else in the school is sick then, because I don't plan on leaving you alone for at least another day." He said, crossing his arms, and waiting for the response that he surely will get from his hard-headed comments.
"mmm...you'd better go make sure, I hear Darten coughing yesterday, if he's sick the whole place my get blow up...then what kind of a Doctor would that made you..." she snapped at him as she cleaned out the beakers they worked with normally.
Nikolai looked puzzled, not sure if she was trying to make him leave or not, but with Darten, he wasn't positive he wanted to take that chance. "You're coming with me, if I leave." He said, hoping that would change her mind on that cough she may or may not have heard.
Eleanor glanced at him and stomped her foot. "I'm fine, i know my own limits thank you very much just because i was sick for a few days doesn't mean you get to fun over me, you know i hate things like that!" She almost shouted the last voice and he voice cracked causing her to start coughing again.
Nikolai looked worried as she broke down coughing again. "Cough medicine." He whispered, naming the one thing he'd forgotten to give her. "Hmm..... To Eleanor.. or the dragon..." He thought, shivering as he thought of what Harmon's reaction would be to cough medicine.
She recovered still glaring at him as she crossed over ot the bed and picked up the glass of water and finshed it off. Just then there was a knock on the door. "hey, are you guys planning on getting up today?" It was darten and he didn't sound pleased. "We've BEEN up!" Eleanor snapped and flung open the door. She was suprised to find a slightly worried look on the headmasters face. "whats got your painties in a knot?" She sniffled looked him once over. Darten sighed. "Tar mind blasts me everytime i get near his room...and you both know what that means..."
"Oh no." Nikolai said, involutarily. He grabbed his bag from the table, quickly rummaging through to make sure all of his things were in place. "What was he like yesterday, Darten?" Nikolai asked, needing to know if this just started today, or if it was before.
"Nope, he was pretty much fine yesterday...so its just started today....you should be able to get past it..." He muttered softly with a sigh. This was all very annoying to him but he also seemed worried for poor Tar. "I'll get so tea going, that should at least get you in alive." Eleanor said, and it didn't seem like that last part had been a joke. She knew how powerful Tar was.
"Thank god for the tea." Nikolai said, gathering light sedatives, just enough to calm Tar, if he found the need to use them.
After a few moments Eleanor was back with a cup of hot tea. "want me to go in to?" She asked holding the tea gently in both hands. She already knew what he would say but she had to asked just incase.
Nikolai shook his head, gently taking the tea from her. "No, Eleanor. An angry Tar is the last thing you need." He said softly, before turning and making his way to Tar's room, stopping a few feet outside of the door, and bracing himself for what was to come next.
Eleanor found it hard to bite back on her anger but she did so and let it out and a heavy snort faw momnets after Nikolai was out of earshot. "You've got a cold to huh?" Darten had noticed how stuffed she was. "So?" "So, you'll made him worry....be nice." he muttered walking off leaving the woman blushing. "are you SURE your not a mental dragon!" "Yep!" Darten called back down the hall. Tar was inside his room curled up under as many blankets as he could find whimpering softly as his head throbbed almost uncontrollably. His dragon was pressed along the door growling heavily sending little mind shocks along the wood.
Nikolai clenched his teeth, as he opened the door. Edna was wrapped tightly around his shoulder, prepared to sustain Tar's dragon at a moments notice. "Tar. I have tea, please don't attack." He said, knowing that he wasn't going to get a nice response.
As soon as the door opened the dragon behind it reacted. It slammed in to Nikolai and flooded his mind with as many images it could find, somewhere just of random days things he had to do, lists, charts, and other random things but it seemed this time most of the images where of Eleanor, when she was much younger, and how beautiful she was. At the word tea all the images when black and the dragon
appeared in front of the doctor, it was panting heavily and shivering all over. It growled once more then its eyes rolled back and it fainted.
Nikolai quickly shot out one arm to catch the dragon, Thankfull it was smaller than Dartens, and that he'd made it through. Nikolai set the tea down on the lamp table next to Tar, and then Tars dragon down softly near Tar. Nikolai didn't seem shaken by the images for once, as he had been expecting them this time. "Tar, can you sit up at all?" Nikolai softly asked.
Tar shifted under the sheets, his head hurt a bit less now that his dragon was out. "a-alittle..." he muttered sitting up the blankets still around his head nad shoulders, he was pain and teary eyes from the pain of it all. "s-sorry...."
Nikolai helped Tar by setting the pillows upright behind him, carefully not to cause him anymore pain. By the shallow squeak that came from Edna, he already knew Tar had a fever, the exact number wasn't truely important at this time. Nikolai opened his bag, and quickly selected a bottle of pills, removing two of them, he set them into a small medicine cup. Those two were for Tar.
Opening a seperate bottle, he selected a single pill, and broke it in half. The half was for Tars dragon. They would help calm the pain of the headache, and reduce the fever. Opening the water bottle in the bag, he offered it, and the two pills to Tar. "Take these, and then I'll need you to wake your dragon."
Tar sniffled lightly as he sat and let the doctor move him around. He finally took the pills and water letting out a smile sigh as he reached over rubbing Queen awake. She growled loudly and Tar recoiled deeper in to the sheets as he head began to throb again. Queen wined sliding over to the doctor and laying limply in his lap. She felt horrible at the moment and wined a bit louder.
Nikolai softly rubbbed the back of the mental dragon, while pulling a small piece of soft candy from his back, and sticking the pill into the middle of it. He offered it to the dragon, though he knew that Queen would know what was inside he hoped that she would still take it.
The dragon sniffed at the pill infested candy and took it gnetly from his fingers. She lay on her back and nibbles all around the pill before it was the only thing left then held it back up to the docotor as if asking for more candy.
Nikolai rubbed his fingers on his forehead, trying not to smile at the cute act. Removing another piece of candy from his pocket, he tried again, this time saying ''You have to swallow it whole'.
Nikolai looked confused as the dragon hiccuped, and tar scolded him. "Oh...no..." He said, torn between a serious face, and breaking down laughing. The dragon was adorable in her drunken state, but he knew it was hurting Tar. Rubbing his arm where Queen had bit him, Nikolai pulled the dragon back up into his lap, and held her their while he was preparing a spot for her on Tars bed, hoping she would pass out.
Tar sniffled looking up as Nikolai cared for his dragon. He finally felt the medicine kick in and simply slumped out with a content sigh. Tar closed his eyes leaving enough space for Queen to sleep. "...my stomach hurts..." he muttered finally it had bee caused by all the headaches.
Queen shifted in the doctors arms and hiccuped again, she finally seemed to relax when Tar did give a random hiccup her to there but that was all.
Nikolai gently set Queen down next to Tar, the warm dragon curled up next to it's master quickly. Nikolai looked at the now cold tea on the table, wondering if he should make Tar another cup, or find something else to settle his stomach.
Tar peeked up and reached up snatching the tea and sink back in to his blankets sipping on it. He never minded cold Tea and he knew who'd made it to. Eleanor know the prefect way to make tea so it tasted good even when it was cold, but she'd never tell him how she did it.
Nikolai smiled, happy that the tea problem had been so easily solved. "Tar, care to tell me how you're feeling? Minus the headache?" He asked carefully, not being the mind reader Tar was, therefore needing this.
"Bad." Tar said not speaking for a long time after he was to embraced in his tea. Finally he set it down and curled up again under his mound of blankets. "My nose is all stuffy and my skin feels clammy...and I'm really cold but hot...to..." he winced as he started coughing, this startled Queen and she squeaked sending another mind blast in the room. This one only kicked up a very interesting memory that Nikolai had long forgotten, it was of Eleanor asking about children as if she wished she could have on, she was young very young and still with gray silver hair but long almost ot her butt.
Nikolai shook his head, he'd forgotten the memory, almost. He smiled at how her wish was coming true, something good among all the bad. Nikolai moved over to Tar, gingerly pressing his hand against Tars chest, Edna working to clear the mucus that had gone into Tars lungs. "Tar... how'd you get so sick?
Tar relaxed as his coughing vanished and he took a good soild breath before speaking. "...rain." He muttered glancing away from the man, that was a lie and both of them knew it. Queen hiccup again and plunked out on the pillow again and small snot bubble forming.
Nikolai chuckled at Queen, she'd always been entertaining, and drunk just made her even morenso. "Tar, If you don't tell me, I can't treat you." he said, quite sternly.
sighed lightly then pulled the blankets down showing neddle marks, he's been poisoned, it wasn't a strong poison, but it did made him very very ill and quickly. "....Earth dragons are d**k heads....lets just say that." He had managed to kill his attack but not with out getting hurt.
Nikolai examined the needle marks, Enda squirming unhappily at the sight of them. "I see..." Nikolai said, opening his bag, and removing four bottles, each containing different parts of a salve. He mixed the salve in a bowl, while Edna was helping him by cleaning the skin around the wound. "Good thing about this is, you've got me and Edna. We'll fix you right up." He said cheerily, spreading some of the salve over them. The salve would burn, but it would help purify the poison.
Tar gritted his teeth, like Eleanor he was very use to this kind of pain and he took in slow breaths keeping him self calm till the man had finshed. He shivered suddenly and pulled the blankets over his neck again, he was pail and sweating heavily now. "....its not really bad..is it?"
Nikolai had been observing Tar for a while now. Though the poison wasn't as bad as it could have been, it wasn't good either. "Tar, you're going to need to take it easy for a few days. No more missions for at least a week. But, it's not too bad." He said, knowing the news wouldn't sit well with Tar
Tar snorted "What a week?!" He sat up and his whole body cramped at once and he doubled over in pain whimpering. He felt like he was going to be sick and gave a gagging cough covering his mouth as his body shivered against the pain.
Nikolai nodded, resting a hand on Tars shoulder. "Why don't you try something easy, that you can do at home during that time?" He asked, trying to comfort the man.
"oh, that's wonderful, I-i'll just invite a hired assassin to our house for tea..." He muttered tears still in his eyes. Finally his body relaxed and he dropped back on the bed with a snort.
"Fine...." he growled then wrenched the sheets back over his head. Queen shifted mewing to him in her drunken sleep.
She hiccuped again and nibbled along his back weakly. Tar tensed a bit but slowly relaxed till only soft pulps ran inside the doctors head. Many strange images, mostly from the mans dreams. Finally they stopped all together leaving a memory that wasn't his, it was Eleanor only slightly younger with a child holding her hand. It was a little girl of about 5, with short gray hair and bright eyes like the Doctors. It seemed to be an insert from one of her dreams not so long ago.
Eleanor's eyes fluttered closed at the gental kisses. "101 if you wondering..." she muttered having check not but a few moments ago, she wasn't stupid, and she knew him FAR to well. Nikolai only did things if there was a purpose.
Nikolai sighed, 101 was better, for a normal person it would be around 99, meaning that she was getting better. "Somehow.. I figured you would guess." He whispered, nuzzling his nose against her. "I'll lay here with you Eleanor, you know I don't mind, but you need to rest more." He said, his tone serious this time.
