The brush shifted as it was disturbed, dewdrops hardly quenching the dry ground as they were thrown around, lending the misty morning an eerie sparkle. Early birds shrieked and trilled as they scattered from the grass, warning the woods of the intruder that stalked as quietly as she could around the territory. The strong, familiar scent of divine blood assaulted her nose, causing white lips to curl into a gleaming snarl. The female's ears strained forward, awaiting any telling sounds as she looked over the brambles, and she gave a grunt and shook out her mottled monotone coat.
-------
Sirius felt it in his veins before he even smelled her scent. Something about having such a close bond with family, an unbreakable bond, seemed to give him an almost six sense when it came to sensing them. He inhaled deeply, taking in the scent of the goddess; the one that matched his own. He had called out to her, without consciousness, in a long winded howl that seemed to reach the moon. He did not expect her here. "Sister," he breathed out quietly, letting his voice carry across the winds.
-------
An ear flicked back as the whisper floated on the wind and she took a step closer to the white rocks, dropping her head low enough as if to smell them, but really just taking another glance for security. She knew he was here as well, knew it was he who called to her, and she could not ignore the blood they shared no matter how hard the world had made her. "I have not forgotten our bond, brother," she called out confidently, straightening her stance and holding her tail aloft, "So I have come. Why do you cry for me?" She turned her head slowly, narrowed eyes searching the trees for a shadow or a rustle, a sign of the gray male.
-------
He sighed. That was his sister, direct to the point and never saying anything that might deter from that directness. He finally padded forward, breaking out of the treeline to look at her. He hadn't seen her in ages, and he knew, with sorrow in his heart, that life had not treated her kind. He almost regretted that she came. Where she hailed life would be bad, but he did not want to burden her forward. "I am lost," he breathed out after a moments paused. He looked over at her and hung his head, "I do not wish to continue in my journey alone."
-------
She took her time in closing the gap between them, sizing him up, family or not. After all, it had been years and life had wrenched them apart and weathered them both beyond imagination. He looked tired, broken, as if he cared nothing of the world, and it pained her to see such a strong yet gentle soul drooping with despair. She had changed too, grown so cold in her journeys that her skin was marred and her claws were never dull, teeth bared at the shifting of the clouds. She ruled the ground she walked on so that no one could rule her. Inches from his face, she dipped her maw, staring up at him with a grin that didn't quite reach her eyes. "Liens, brother. You are never alone." She readily took in his scent as she lightly nudged his maw with hers. "I will help you find the path again, if that is what you want."
-------
He watched her as she approached, equally letting his eyes graze across her familiar yet unfamilar body. In her eyes he saw the coldness, and though she was a year older then him and hit was her duty to protect her younger brother he still felt the need to turn away from her - such was the intensity in her eyes. "Yes...yes, taht is true," he said, and then burried his face in her hackle fur, "Hedwig is gone from me." *
-------
Her ears flattened against her skull at his touch - it had been so long since she had felt anything so tender, been shown any affection - and her icey eyes became heavy and half-mast at the news. "So she has, and you have let her push you into the ground with her? You must not forget your strength for your heart, Sirius." The words seemed harsher leaving her mouth than she had meant them to be, though she showed no regret in saying what she felt. If her brother wished to be an alpha, then he had to stand as one, even if she was there to protect him. "She will do you no good even if she should return. If there was a bond, it has been broken. It isn't worth giving up all you have secured for a shaky new start," she added in a low tone, thick and sagely, which wasn't frequent of her. But then, Tempest had seen many things.
-------
He stiffened and pulled away at the words. Looking down and finally looking up to greet her eyes. It was true, he knew it and she knew it, and there would be no denying. Quite simply, he had let a woman destroy the promises he had made to the pack and to himself. "Yes....yes, you are right, sister. I have been foolish." A thought suddenly occurred to him. "Perhaps you could help set things right?" *
-------
She flinched as he tensed, and she took a halfstep away and looked back towards him. Placing a white paw on the white rock of the ruins, she nodded her head at his suggestion. "For you, brother, I would fight man." She snorted at the strange rocks as she turned, tail straightening out behind her. "It will be my duty to protect the bonds made here."
-------
He knew the seriousness of the situation, and of her words. To even come across man, let alone fight them was a grave offense in his eyes. He nodded, and bristled upward, pulling to his true, large height. There would be no more talk of Hedwig, he knew. "Then you shall join me here. You shall be my alpha and I yours. "
-------
A small smile grew on her lips as he straightened himself, coming to terms with whatever was within. There was still strength yet, and she would see it overthrow the melancholy. "I accept this duty happily." Taking her place at his side - she was a substantial, intimidating lady, but he was still bigger - she nodded swiftly, tail curling over her back. "Show me your lands, brother."
