Although Raawiya couldn't understand reasons for leaving they're home on island and settling on mainland she blindly followed Rajah. It has passed few months since they found they're new home but Raawiya already knew almost every corner of the land she was allowed to explore and little of the places she wasn't supposed to be at in a first place. Curiosity is her middle name.

Days passed by slowly and carefree for the young ones and Raawiya's favorite way for killing boredom was to play with her little brother Myrrith. And like all young foals she was nearing the age when it wouldn't be enough to just explore world that was surrounding her for her head was full of questions on why things are the way they are.

Day started with cool summer morning. The sun was just coming out and sky was colored in most beautiful blue, pink and orange colors. Little Raawiya was still tightly sleeping beside her brother dreaming of enchanted lands where day would never end and no little kirin had to go to sleep.

Myrrith fluffed his wings in his sleep, hooves scrabbling in an imaginary dream-chase. With a huff he poked one foot unknowningly into Raawiya's side, still dreaming. Their "lair" was quite the tidy bit of work, a half cave formed from an outcropping above, and several felled trees bigger around than the foals could reach with their noses. Thick green vines with waxy patterned leaves twined and ambled over the fallen giants, a thick carpet of moss growing back where Rajah had stripped wide swathes to pad the bottom of their little retreat.

The stallion had been fiercely adamant - while he was out hunting, they were absolutely forbidden to leave the safely of the lair. Of course, the best way to make children want to do something is to forbid it....

Myrrith's poke was so sudden and unexpected that it woke Raawiya up and forced her to jump on her feet. Trying to figure out where she was and what just happened she leaned herself onto one wall of the cave to at least protect one side of her from farther attacks. First she looked to find her father but it seemed Rajah has already left. Feeling her heart race she scanned the cave to find this rude intruder but all she could see was her brother moving in his sleep. Heavy sigh came out of her while she was waiting for her eyes to fully get used to the fact she was awake.

'' Scary cat... ''

After calming down Raawiya decided she would get even with Myrrith for scaring her like that and pulling his ear should do the trick. So she slowly walked up to him and pulled his ear though not to hard. She didn't want to get in trouble and more father's scolding.

'' Wake up you sleepy head. ''

"Squee!" With a startled cry, Myrith woke up, legs flailing ineffectually at an invisible attacker. Wait a minute... he wasn't under attack, it was his sibling nibbling on his ear! "Wha? Raawiya, cut that out!" With a shake of his head, Myrith tried to dislodge the filly's grasp. A quick glance at the sky above, visible through the leafy covering, revealed the time to be early morning. The colt groaned theatrically.

"Ugh... what'd you wake me up for? It's eearrrrllieeee...." With a snort and a roll, Myrith flopped over and tucked his head on his forelegs. "Sire won't be back for hours yet." The colt yawned, closing his eyes.

Myrrith's first reaction was satisfying and made Raawiya smile victoriously.

'' Because you woke me up first and now I can't sleep. ''

Seeing her little brother getting ready to fall asleep again made her little face lour. There was no way she would let him sleep now. Especially since Rajah wasn't around and they were not permitted to leave the cave. What was she supposed to do all alone. No boredom was not an option.

'' If you try to fall asleep again I'll sit on you. It is you're fault I'm awake and you shall suffer with me. ''

Myrith made a sulky face in Raawiya's direction. "What do you mean it's my fault? You're the one who woke me up!" With a snort he swats the filly with his furry feather tipped tail, mumbling. "girls... no sense between their ears at all."

Fluffing out his wings as a warm blanket against the chilly morning breeze, the colt tucked his head down with a grumble.

Myrrith's tail swat made Raawiya pout. It didn't hurt her physically as much as it did hurt her pride. She was older and he was supposed to listen to her.

'' What did you mean with that. Of course it was you're fault. You kicked me in while sleeping and scared me to death. ''

Slowly walking away from her little brother with her head lowered and ears flattened. With her tail moving form one side to other she thought about possibility of pulling out all his tail feathers but instead found comfortable place by the entrance and looked outside waiting for father's return.

Although it was early world outside was already live full of creatures occupied with completing day chores. Bees and butterflies were collecting flowers juice and ants were running around in search of a good meal. In the distance birds were singing they're morning greetings. And just as Raawiya was about to close her eyes again following the path to dreamland she spotted one beautiful butterfly. With patterns she never saw before. Enchanted she gazed into it. Oh if only she could leave the cave. But than again she could. Father wasn't here and Myrrith was sleeping again and father couldn't be mad at her for something he didn't know. Right?

Slowly getting up ready to poke her nose out Raawiya turned her head to look at her little brother again just to make sure she could leave without him noticing it.

The colt was apparently fast asleep again, having inherited his sire's propensity for being able to snooze anywhere, anytime. His tail twitched occasionally, indifferent to the morning rituals of the forest.

If one took the time to look at Myrrith very, very closely, it might be noted that one eyelid twitched ever so little, slitted against the gloom of the lair. In fact, the colt was only half asleep, awaiting the execution of his sibling's threat, unaware that she had something quite different in mind.

Ah perfect. Raawiya's inspection of Myrrith left her thinking he was fast asleep again. What a sleepy head she thought to herself. And now it was time for some more important things like exploring cave surroundings and running after interesting bugs. Turning her head from her little brother she found her prey and as quietly as she could went in it's direction.

The butterfly was slightly larger than normal one she was used to see around her cave. Darkly colored but the most interesting thing on him were his markings. Beautifully blue they looked as if they glowed. Raawiya thought she might be dreaming and the only way she would be sure she wasn't was with close inspection.

When the expected retribution failed to arrive, Myrrith roused himself slightly, a frown furrowing his brow. It was quiet... too quiet. Where was Raawiya? A prickle of alarm brought the colt to full wakefullness, and he peered about in the dimly lit hidey-hole. Shafts of sunlight pierced the leaves infrequently, reflecting swirling dustmotes that glittered lazily.

"Raa?" Myrrith whispered, poking his nose into the deepest nook. "Raawiya, this isn't funny. Stop hiding and get out here." His voice rose into a squeak of uncertainty. The lair wasn't very big, not even large enough for Rajah to shelter with them. He usually slept topside, guarding their home from above.

There were no two ways about it. Raawiya was gone.

Myrrith sat down with a thump. Now what? He was not supposed to leave the lair, ever, without their sire... at the same time, he wasn't supposed to leave Raawiya either. Stay or go.. stay or go. The colt stuck his head out into the crisp morning air, and looked for the missing filly. The only sign of her passage were fresh, dainty little cloven hoofprints in the moist ground.

"We are going to be in soooo much trouble for this...." Myrrith flattened his ears as he wriggled his way out from between the two fallen logs, trotting off in pursuit of the hoofprints.

As soon as Raawiya got close to butterfly it fluttered away into bushy vegetation. Her sneaking skill wasn't so good and she knew it very well. Still best way to get better at something is to practice and her target landed not far away. So Raawiya sneaked into the bushes lowered to the ground as much as her legs allowed it avoiding leaves as much as she could just to be able to watch butterfly from few inches distance for few minutes. As she tried to get even more closer it fluttered away though this time she couldn't follow it for she had no wings. Looking high into sky in direction butterfly disappeared Raawiya came to conclusion that she should get back to her lair since there was no butterfly to study anymore. Still lie on the ground she turner her head in lair's direction and through empty spaces between leaves spotted Myrrith walking toward her. A small smirk appeared on her lips. Well if she can't have fun with butterfly why not have fun with her little brother. A little scare attack should be fun and punishment for fibbing to her. Hidden by bushes she found best place and pose for her attack patiently waiting for the perfect moment.

Myrrith looked about uncertainly, ears flicked back with discomfort. Where had that blasted filly gotten herself off to now? With a disgruntled snort Myrrith crowhopped along the edge of the forest, following the trail of little hoofprints. "Raawiya, this isn't funny anymore! You're going to be in so much trouble if Sire finds us out here..."

The colt stopped and frowned as he reached the end of the trail, where the hoofprints muddied over each other.

Perfect! She flicked her tail few times while getting ready to jump and she was of to claim her victory. Leaves murmured as she passed through the bush that was just behind Myrrith. Victoriously smiling she landed on him.

'' Got you! Didn't you say it was too early for you Myr? ''

By the tone of his voice from earlier she knew he didn't see the butterfly she was catching and she decided it will be her little secret. After all he could say something he shouldn't to father.

'' I'm sure I won't get in trouble for going to fatten earth outside of our lair where we sleep. ''
