I have tons of friends that are goth but I hate it when people call me Goth. Usually Goths have more of a Victorian or European-like fashion. They wear velvet and lace a lot more than emos. Some people compare the style of Goths to the style of vampires.

i dont think goths and emos hate each other and to your second question...i think it depends on the person. generally, a goth has all black and dark colors, with probably a more darkly romantic (the way vampires are romantic in the way they kill) style of dress, and emos would wear black with brighter colors and have a more outcast-ic attitude. as the jerk in science told me, emos are hated by the world, and goths hate the world. oddly enough, before he said the part about goths, i said "and i hate the world back" so im a hybrid i guess

Goth and emo are merely fashion labels, and most often associated with the angst-filled teens who usually wear them. Yes, I call it angst, because normally there is no justified reason to hate the world, and the general populace does not have clinical depression. People are "emo" when their "oh so complicated" life gets "unbearably terrible". I know a proven schizophrenic who has more of a reason to hate life than any normal teen, but she's fine, hyper, and happy. So I'm sorry, but your stereotypes are just fashion and over inflated drama. I may dress the part of what you call goth, but it's is simply because I adore historical fashions(And just as a side note no it is not a sea of black, it has color . Like I said, historical. They wore color in the Renaissance, I'm going to wear it too). And while I may wear eyeliner it doesn't look like I'm a raccoon--I wear it in moderation.
