well i didn't set this topic to really rant on which is better, but i couldn't think of a better topic.
recently all i have been hearing and watching is hate on FFXI(if you watch g4 you'll know what i mean)
this person on attack of the show(name is kevin) introduced the creator of allak. so yea once the creator of allak starts talking about FFXI kevin starts talking about people still play that MMORPG?{/slap} {do you need it?} so yea i got kind of mad because he is practically calling us a nobody. all i hear is WoW, WoW, and more about WoW. i am not saying that WoW would neccesarily be a bad MMORPG but all i see is people talking about WoW is better than any mmorpg out there.
each one have there difference on how you play the game and these 2 have a few.
as for FFXI we already know that we can change jobs as long as we have the requirements, while you have to pay for another character to to get a different job
i also heard FFXI leans toward more of a turn based in a real time fight.
and yes when you capped at 75(or whatever cap is for WoW) you can't change to a new job.... what do you do now with that character? save it and create another?
there is a torrent file on allak if you want to see the 30 minutes of it..... although they didn't spend a lot of time on mmorpg

personally they both have their ups and downs...i play both obviously. i like some things ffxi provides i also like some things wow provides but as far as it goes i cant say which is better to me, i like them both...
both have pro's an cons depending on what your taste is...so i dont tend to pay attetnion much to peoples comments on things if i enjoy this certain something.*shrug*

i agree with tiggy. eff the naysayers is how i see it. FFXI is the original and its going on strong to this day, regardless of what people talk about it. and WoW is obviously not SO SUPREME, seeing as how everyone i know that plays WoW also plays FFXI... it must be lacking in some ways to keep them coming home *wink*
