Food. Seriously.
People are more likely to come to your meetings if you put "We have snacks" or something on the poster. Rainbow sprinkles=love
Also: Try to get mentioned. By the school paper, if you have one; by the announcements if you don't. Or both. Put up posters everywhere. Ask friends and friends of friends. Ask the teacher(if one's advising?) to advertize to his/her students, or ask other teachers if you can advertise in thier classes.
...If I can remember any more of my tactics, I'll let you know. I was a co-prez my sr. year.

By food, do you mean soda as well? I'm one of those guys that drinks tons of pop and Dr. Pepper is always a bonus. (X3K

FuzzyBunnyKins I would assume it means "Gay-Straight-Alliance". Am I right? You are correct, at my school we have a GSA club also and I'm a former member but still a behind the scenes supporter I make stuff for them when I can

I started the GSA at my old school a couple of years ago. I had a few close friends come in and support me. Do you have friends that would be willing to come? Put some posters up and also include some snacks. If people take your posters down just put them back up.

Congrats. :] I also recently moved up in rankings from Public Relations Officer to President. We do a lot of promotion, like campus wide events and we set up tables with literature, condoms, dental dams, and a sign up sheet for our mailing list. We also just spent an evening making rainbow awareness ribbons and red ones for AIDS awareness.
A good idea is to participate in national holidays. October 11th is National Coming out day, November 20th is Transgender Day of Rememberance. April 14th (I think, don't quote me on this) is National Day of Silence. Put up flyers, put up a table or booth, set out literature, et cetera.
Also, get in contact with other groups in the area and see if they want to do collaborative events. If other schools have GSA's, maybe some college GSA's, County Health, Rape Crisis Intervention, Stonewall Alliance, and anyone else.
God speed!

Alli week is coming up at our school. Our GSA gets a table at lunch for the whole week and have people sign it. This year, we are making a "Did you know" poster so that people aren't signing to get a sticker. That is what we are doing. Our principle also announces it so
